It was awhile back, but someone...maybe moten, mentioned that GV isn't trying to make this the Eastern Coachella. Which is nice. Honestly, I'm not sure what would make this fest better other changing it to a 4th day or having a better pre-party planned.
There's def no more room for another stage. The addition of a DJ seems very favorable even though I spent all of 30 seconds going through it. I think thenline up is fairly diverse but it would be nice to stray a bit fron EDM more towards a few more hip hop and jam bands. They probabaly had the best restroom set up of any fest. The food vendors were below average, but I'm a bit jaded coming from Austin's haven of food trucks.
I think the Palladia stage needs more work if any. They added some sand this year, but not enough.

...guy from GV told me that...said different bands are stroger on the east coast than the west.
If I had a vote...probably would vote for improvement in Salt Life and Palladia stages for attendees. Another tent with shade and big fans if not HVAC where acoustic or small bans could play would be nice. Palladia needs grass and city should adopt and just make it a year round covered amphitheater for picnics or something. Bonnaroo has completed new projects each year to make things better. Hangout could invest and make nice permanent bathrooms and park like areas. Some of us really appreciated the palm trees with a little elevation at Palladia. Changes in time, schedule, etc get into contracts and relations with city.

I seriously doubt seeing any changes in time (i.e. having it go from 1pm to 1am) or making permanent physical year round changes to the landscape of Gulf Shores are going to happen. The 11pm cut-off is probably written into the contract to appease the locals who don't want us down there in the first place. Expecting them to change the landscape of the city, whether we think it would be for the good, isn't going to happen. The fact that the festival brings in a LOT of money doesn't change what the city's goals are. They don't want to turn into another Orange Beach Wharf venue. They put up with the inflow for Hangout and the Shrimp Festival. Considering the amount of additional capital those two things bring in, I don't think they see the need to put up with any more than that. They're flush , as it is.
Most people at Palladia do not stand on the highway...no, it is not the highway. It is the area from the highway to the Palladia stage and from the souveneir shop to the construction gate where, along that fence, they put ATM, beer and food vendors. It is half gravel/dusty and half grass they bring in. Arguably, they have a limitation on space. But this is the site/area for September shrimp festival and other activities. It could be upgraded as a permanent park or open amphitheater for year-round concerts. I realize the Hangout owner will want to "own" any entertainment in that area...so probably also limited in that way. They moved the Boom Boom tent early on and I would have just added a tent and used the existing tent for Salt Life stage. Again, I like the festival pretty much the way it is and would rather they leave things alone than make them worse.
Weather in middle Tennessee is really wet and humid. Noticed a serious increase in mosquitos and humidity this weekend. Gonna be an epic Bonnaroo from a hot, humid and buggy standpoint. Bring plenty of water and bug repellent.

My only complaint is during the day the heat inside the boom boom tent. Griz was really steamy on Sunday. Maybe add some fans or how about some artic cove misters. Which I didn't see artic cove all weekend.....well.... except for the light post misters at the Malibu tent.
Also would like to see some VIP access at the boom boom tent.
Porto Johns opposite the north gate were a mess. The one row was on a tilt, so you really had to balance there.....
Tents without air moving and thousands of people in them definitely get hot. I'm getting older and would rather look for shady, breezy, way listening venues during the day, hit the pool around 3:00, and catch last 2-3 performers as the sun goes down. In 2011 they had OCMS in and air conditioned tent which was sweet.
Portolets or bathrooms were either good or bad. Need to correct bad situations.
Another tent wouldn't be bad since they have a lot of DJ acts and bands that really benefit from their light show (Odesza, Phantogram, Umph). I still want to see god damn Ghostland on the beach with them lasers. Unfortunately, I don't think they have enough national recognition to put them into the night, and I doubt Aaron Behrens would play in the middle of the day. Additionally, I don't know if hundreds of lasers shooting out into the Gulf is safe for any naval ship. With that said, Aaron Behrens and the Midnight Stroll would be a decent pre-party add.
I think a repeat headliner, a legend, and a new headliner would be a great format with 2 DJs, a hip hop act, and a alt/rock act as the Chevy closer/pre-headliner @ Mainstage.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - David Bowie or Billy Joel - Mumford & Sons Disclosure - Wu-Tang Clan or Kendrick Lamar - Bassnectar - Florence & the Machine

I wonder if Hangout is going to tap into the Coachella tent style. It seemed that there was a lot of darkness in them during the day.
Not sure on how the sound would work, but they could position a stage right in the middle of the beach where the Malibu tent wis (basically expand on the Malibu tent) and angle it out towards the beach with closed sides. I stopped in to catch Autograf and the Malibu tent was pretty empty but his sidekick was playing a mean electric xylophone! So not sure if it would warrant another tent with attendance capped.
Does anyone know how the VIP drink situation is like? Are there full bars at each the surf and main stage? or just in the VIP grove? Asking for our vodka consuming crew, which I did notice that the call liquor was Tito's....only judging by the large quantities they kept bringing out from the liquor bunker next to the back entrance of Salt Life stage area.
Some sort of shade by Palladia would be nice. Hottest stage by far. Just no relief and no breeze off the gulf.
We have been calling it The Heat Stroke Stage for the past 4 years. I never even know what the actual sponsor name is.
In reference to heat stroke, the positioning of the Camelbak water stations were not very well planned out. The ones on the beach were empty and the only other one was near the tent and was always a mile long. They really need two on that side.

Beer and water only at the beach stage VIP area. The grove has a decent bar. Beer, wine, champagne, light rum, Malibu and lots of vodka, so your friends will be happy. They also had specialty drinks in the grove: Foo Fizzle - Malibu, sprite, and cranberry Zac' Sweet Brown Tea - Absolut & iced tea Beck & Call - Malibu and coke My Morning Mojito - Malibu, club soda, and mojito mix

Thanks for the info. I would assume that you can leave the grove with a drink and venture to the main stage? Our whole group took the plunge this year to VIP and we really don't know what to expect. Our routine was to meet at the hangout bar and then venture to the next show. So I'm hoping that the grove can replace the hangout bar. Really looking forward to it though. Wife is gluten free (allergic), so her options are really limited when it comes to food and drinks.

Just got an email from our house owner and after 5 years of renting it to us, they are selling the place. How depressing. Besides VRBO, anyone know of a house that is walking distance from the festival. Probably need 5+ bedrooms.
Really trying to avoid the shuttles. Needless to say, looks like someone is getting on the phone tomorrow.

You can't walk out withy he drunk in hand but you can order a quad. Vodka and pound it or throw away what you don't drink cause it's free. Other option is to do like I did and get a tea or water bottle and ask the bar lady to fill that withr vodka and you can easily throw this in a bag to leave the grove with.

Nice. Thanks. She usually throws her drinks in a camelbak bottle anyways. Held her over for a show.
Hopefully they will change that situation going forward.

They won't let you walk out with food or drink in your hands, so make sure you bring containers to smuggle them out in.
The new Muse song "The Handler" is pretty decent. I'm hoping those beach balls this year mean something for next year. Also hoping Mumford is not on the bill. Going to see them Saturday at their GOTR Stopover in NJ and that should get me my Mumford fix.
Hangout sent out their email asking for feedback on the fest today. Had quite the list of band/artist requests. Hopefully the fest just keeps getting better and better.
im pretty sure i submitted like 50 acts last year and didnt get more than like 2-3 of them (i know Trampled was 1) if that lol but ill fill it out tomorrow and try again.

I also told them they needed to bring the hammocks back and string them between the trees along the fence line and throw in some umbrellas for good measure.
