Has anyone been on jamcruise? Seems like a rocking time. Just not sure of the whole boat aspect. My bar tab would be insane
One of my musician buddies goes every year and talks about it lime we talk about Hangout. Says its the best trip he had ever taken and tells ua to go every year but the funds and timeline never work out.
Yeah, Ima try to give them a 3rd shot since they are main stage. But I have a small window since they are 12:45-2:15. STS9 vs JRAD at 12-1:30 and Savoy is 2-3:30. I'm gonna have to miss Lindsay Lowend and Brosafari. I always thought Brosafari had to be a joke. I mean come on. But it's not. I'm not even hating on his trap beats in some songs, but no. Only way I look over there from Savoy is if I notice a bro fight break out.
JRAD killed it at Summercamp. Hope you can work them in.

Its on my list but that is a fucking expensive fest. Id like to do 311 or Flogging Molly's cruise.
I hope so too JD. I heard the Counterpoint set was great too. But it's going to be really tough to leave Tribe at a Waka set. Absolutely my toughest conflict.
A buddy of mine and his gf went on the 311 Cruise this year. He became an instant Dirty Heads fan. Luckily I can see them again Saturday.

considering going to hangout next year for my first time. love the fact that its right next to the beach and other than zac brown band the past 3 lineups have been awesome. i live in PA so i go to firefly every year but I'm considering changing it up next year. got a couple questions. whats the weather like? never been to alabama and i feel like it would be really humid. also whats the crowd like? it feels like you do run into a lot of fratty douchbags at firefly but you meet some really cool people too. idk it seems like you guys have really high hopes for next years lineup and if its better than ff theres a good chance i could make my way down for the weekend.
the two amin stages are on the beach just a few feet from the water. its half the size of FF crowd and site wise but the weather has been perfect low to mid 80's in the 3 years i have attended. I only spent 1 day at FF last year but theres def less of the frat type crowd but still we have our fair share but at hagnout you will get more of the older demo compared to FF. I actually didnt run into any frat or bro types this year but i avoided most of the MTV type acts anyway so thats prob why. I think hangout provides more variey throughout the lineup as well and hits a vide range of genres to appeal most people.

In May the humidity isn't too bad. Plus, the breeze coming off the water tends to knock the humidity level down as well. The only time it's going to bother you is if it rains, stops and the sun comes out and you're at one of the stages set up on or near the street.
You will actually appreciate the Zac Browns or whoever you don't like cause it creates space and better access to who you want to see. Hangout is 85 performers, $200 GA, 40,000 reasonably well behaved hippies, millenials, folkies, dance masters, and others who love the beach and music they never heard before or heard before and like it all. I'm prejudice....6 in a row and ready for 7. Wish they could put the show on for a Spring Hangout and Fall Hangout.

Just go. U wont regret it. Been going from Chicago the last 4 years, going on 5 now. In a city that has put together much "bigger" lineups at a fest like Lolla, it still doesnt compare to the atmosphere down their in Gulf Shores that weekend. I cant imagine ever missin that fest.

I def. feel hangout brings in a older demo. Prolly bc oh higher condo costs and limited camping.

I'll let the northerners speak for the weather. I'm a southern girl, so I can't really tell what's humid.
The crowds are pretty great. I only encountered douchebags in the tent. Everyone else was super cool.

I'm not a hippie because I bathe. I'm not a millennial, despite what Zen thinks. I'm certainly not a dance master. That makes me a folkie or other. Hrmmmm.

As a northerner, its a beach. It's no more humid than Ocean City, Myrtle Beach or any of the popular beaches. It is HOT. Like really hot. This year wasnt bad with the cloud cover some of the day but it was still sweltering for a northerner. Two years ago we barely survived the heat. Stay hydated. As for the crowd, I have had very minimal issues with anyone in the years that I have gone.
Edit: Also, the beaches are like nothing you will find anywhere else. Its pretty much beach perfection. And the weather has always been near perfect as well.

'11 was the only scorcher to me, but i think that's because it was the only year we weren't within walking distance...i.e. pool/ocean breaks.
Love to drink beers and read this thread. LMAO. Miss y'all and perfection sand. If I thought I'd catch ya at Roooooo, might snag a ticket. Not moving TTB down..love to see them on a beach stage when the sun goes down.
