As much as I'd love it I doubt Umph comes back next year, probably 2017. I could see them getting 2 bigger edm acts that aren't big enough for the Surf stage and just putting them in the tents. I mean I love the idea of the jam bands in the tent opposing the headliners but back to back years they had them opposing other rock acts so that doesnt help me at all. If they got Zedd and Disclosure I could see both of them opposing rock acts Friday and Saturday. They're both big but idk if they have the following that Skrillex or Bassnectar have. Given that PL played the tent in 2014 (albeit it was ridic packed) I feel like that's a fair comparison for those 2 I mentioned.
Fuck it, I'll take a double shot of Umph or STS9 @ Hangout if ya got it. I would love more dual sets and collabs with Prez Hall. That, to me, is what makes festivals special.
If I have time later, I, or we, should break down the genres that Hof has scheduled to see whom they cater to. Although, that may change again with GV now owning the fest.
That Stereogum article is great. I grew up in Philly until the age of 22 and have now moved to Austin, TX. It def is bringing back some memories of first hitting up the Fire, Johnny Brendas and the M Room down in Fishtown for a taste of something other than the BS on MMR and 104.5 (which was a blessing when it first came out). When people ask me how Philly life is, this quote from sterogum seems to sum it up pretty well:
After we get in the van, Anka points out the window: “That guy is wearing a Cayetana shirt,” as a guy walks by the van, unaware, in a black jacket and a black shirt with the band’s logo.
“We should honk at him,” offers Koch.
“We should tell him to fuck off,” counters Olsen. “Just kidding.” She grins.

i dont think Pres. Hall got the recognittion they deserved for how much they p;layed this year. they played in 5 sets in 3 days thats insane and everyone of them was a blast especially "with friends" and with Win. Has to be one of the coolest things to happen at any fest this year so far

We walked into that not knowing what we were in for. Sidenote: Someone stay sober to drive to the Gulf next year. Would have loved to hangout with Win Butler and Sam of Future Islands. Maybe Frank Turner was in the corner wasted on Whiskey. 2nd Sidenote: Given his lyrical style, is he a recovering alcoholic that still loves to sing about whiskey? 3rd Sidenote: I'm hungry.

That's one of the reasons everyone was crying about Bear Creek. Nearly every set has some type of collaboration with a premier list of elite talent booked as artists at large or with other bands. It was the king of let's jam together. I don't recall all of the collaborations at Hangout, but PH&F brought out Beats Antique, members of Break Science and Lettuce; Adventure Club brought out Odesza who themselves had a horn section in parts; Foo Fighters brought out Zac Brown and someone else; etc. I know there were others.
Love the jams, invites to "sit in, whether planned or impromptu. Def like Preservation Hall. Interested in your genre analysis. Also stage analysis. Go Vols! Gonna be a fun fall.

Yall looking at another undefeated non-conference year and a 6th place finish in the SEC East?
Look at it from the pro standpoint. I'm a Saints fan. Im not going to be pulling for the Panthers or Falcons in the post season and I'm not going to be chanting "NFC South! NFC South!" because I hate them. Today, tomorrow and always.
I've semi-decided to sell my Peach Fest tickets and do Friday and Saturday of Chicago. Have to figure out the logistics but it's looking pretty likely now.

I think that's a good call...how are you getting tix?

Stubhub or eBay. Ive been bidding on stuff hoping for a deal. Im aboit 95% sure Im headed there.
was thinking of some mid to low end of the card acts i would really like to see next year. London Souls, Rae Sremmurd, Fritz Montana, Delta Saints, Jakubi, Chet Faker, Andrew McMAhon, The Struts. Would expect most these to hit the fest circuit harder next year as the pick up steam.

Go Bucs!
Yea, I don't get that mentality either. Still pissed we gave the Bucs that 1st round draft pick. Poor overall strategy. Now the weakest team in the division could potentially be a major threat.
I'm a Saints fan 100% and other teams can suck a dick. I'll watch other teams sometimes because of players that are exciting but that's about it.
I Roll Tide and Troll Pride all day, but NOLA is my second home so I do have love for LSU when they aren't playing Bammer.
When Auburn was playing FSU for the Natl's tons of people I knew were all "fuck it, let's keep it in the state." Someone at my work described this condition perfectly: "It's like having your wife cheat on you with your brother but cheering him on because he's in your family."

I live about an hour out of NOLA and do like the Saints, as long as they are not playing the Bucs. I like to see the rest of the NFC South do well, it helps to watch someone win when you are a Bucs fan... We do appreciate you all letting us lay down to end that game and get the #1 pick
Oh, and good luck moten33, hope you make it to Chicago. And everyone else going have a great time!

Thanks! I just picked up two GA floor tickets so I guess Im going! Dead this weekend, Stones next weekend with a little Steve Miller tomorrow. Good couple weeks.
GD 50 this weekend in santa clara crushed it! trey fit right in and took a little control in the second night. jealous of anyone going to soldier filed this weekend. - highlight for me was closing set 1 night 2 with hell in a bucket.
Headed to San Jose in the morning. Catching a Dead concert would have been amazing. Should could didn't get me there. Oh well, San Francisco on the 4th should be interesting for this hillbilly. Wonder what the next big tour announcement will be.
Checking various festivals and concerts. After Fleetwood Mac does the world...Hangout would be so cool. Cough up some bucks and go get em! The Dead tour will likely be done before Hangout but, might get Trey and some band mates. Santana still touring. Lady Gaga would be a trip. Sheryl Crow is playing in Franklin TN...I'd give a thumbs up to see her. Watched Bonnaroo Bactracks. Rather see Muse than Arcade Fire. MMJ and KOL were the better performances IMO. Lionel, MACCA, others not so much for Hangout. Definitely PJ, Soundgarden/Cornell would be amazing.

Would love to see Disco Biscuits with Mickey and Billy....They have played a few shows and I haven't been lucky enough to be close enough to catch em....hoping for another solid lineup this year.....
We can start them now! Prince just played a show or has one soon in DC and I know the Wells Fargo Center here in Philly has been trying to convince him to play. Maybe a few shows will get the ball rolling for next year
