Leaving for Chicago for 2 nights of GD50 at 5am. Just bought my aftershows. Doing this one below on Friday night and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros Saturday night. Pretty pumped.

This is so cool. That after show makes it even better. What a (long strange) trip it will be.

We were right next to and then behind the sound booth and will probably shoot for the same spot tonight. I doubt we make it to Edward Sharpe. I didnt realize it starts at 10. All of the other after shows start at midnight. Poor planning for being an "offical" after show. We didn't even get out of the stadium until almost 12:45 last night after buying our T-shirts.
Thanks!! It was an amazing experience and I brought Shells little sister and created a new Deadhead. It was her first Dead ezperience. She is 21 and weve had similar musical tastes for years but shee never got in to the whole scene. This weekend changed both our lives.
Tedeschi-trucks Trucks Band, Amos Lee, Rolling Stones, Jason Isbell, North Mississippi Allstars...my playlist for this evening. Can't get much better than that. All live albums, would love to see all them at Hangout.
My San Francisco trip was a hoot. Some interesting and entertaining folks on the left coast. Ain't got nothing on Tennessee though. Give me some southern blues, BBQ, and cold local IPA, and I'm home again.
saw Foo Fighters last night and man even with Grohl in his crazy throne not being able to run around like a maniac it was still a fantastic show! They played for 3 straight hours with no break or encore, just shredded non stop, it was amazing. seriously considering going again next monday when they come back.
IMO, Foo Fighters have been one of the top five bands playing at Hangout. RHCP, Tom Petty, KOL, Black Keys would make up my top five. Hoping 2016 will bring three new top five performers. Stones, Fleetwood Mac, and Paul McCartney would do it..I'm dreaming.
Beachbob, I came across an article about an interview with Frank Turner. We had a discussion after his Glory Hallelujah song at Hangout. I think it was discussed in this thread also. Anyhow the interview quoted Frank as saying he had no intention of trying to wipe out anyone's beliefs. His band used to close out their sets with the gospel staple May the Circle Be Unbroken. He decided one day to write a song that presented the alternate viewpoint for his fans that were uncomfortable with the gospel singalong. Frank claimed there were plenty of atheist songs but they tended to be angry metal songs. Hence the "joyful" singalong Glory Hallelujah that offended some Hangout fans.
I still think he could do his sets without either song but hey---it's his gig so I guess he plays what he wants to play.
