Who's Yalls dream (but realistic) lineup for next year? I'd love to see a Paul McCartney - Kendrick Lamar - Bassnectar or a chance the rapper or best of all, a NWA reunion. Also De La Soul or Run DMC or Public Enemy would be cool. Throw in some cool upper middle tier bands and you got a dope fest

After this year it's impossible to predict. One of the headliners was The Weeknd and we got a downgrade from Calvin Harris at the last minute. Doh. Feels like we'll get
Mumford - Kendrick - Calvin
That would be both a disappointment and a huge upgrade. Best case scenario for me is something like:
Muse - Drake - Lorde
They fit the new target market, I've never seen any of those, and I like 2 of the 3. I think one of Lana Del Rey or Arcade Fire could also be subbed in. It's too bad Adele may be too big for Hangout because she would kill it. One of the few artists that dominates that target market and still has pretty big appeal in this one.

We had a most excellent dinner and then sang songs about child murder (Delta Rae, VF, and Decemberists)... and them natrually moved onto Violent Femmes.

Love delta Rae. Even moreso into violent femmes
I can't think to the future yet, especially with the the unpredictability that GV brings to the whole scenario... I'm more curious how everyone on here rates their previous hangout experiences by year. When I think about it, several are very close and would rank differently based on artist performances vs overall fest experience.

Sang a 2016 version of Sweet Home Alabama. Sweet Home Alabama... where the skies are smooth. And the guv'ner's a hornball. Sweet Home Alabama.. Lord, I'm coming home to you And your crazy Chief Justice.

I'm so glad I moved away from all that crazy. I still wish nothing but suffering for Roy Moore though.

I have zero expectations. That will help me from being upset next year.,
Hard to remember by years. Try this... Any year with OCMS was great. Ditto Jack White, Tom Petty, KOL, Dave Grohl, Black Crowes, Black Keys, RHCP, and ZBB. 2015 was fun with Inforoo crowd and helping Zen thru his crisis. I liked Jason Isbell, Amos Lee, Delta Rae, Gary Clark Jr,
The article on that guy getting busted is fairly weak. "we noticed he had a sweater tied around his waist and immediately swooped in!" wat? That sounds like some fine Baldwin County policing. I'm gonna assume the writer or guy's quote were just idiots. This guy sounds like a major loser and prob was all adjusting his shit in line and got spotted, I saw several people go down that way in 2011.
Wish I had made it for Sunday....ah well. My rankings anyways. Streaks were meant to be broken.
1. 2010 (epic party, zero hassles) 2. 2011 (best lineup by far, insane hassles) 3. 2014 (best condo crew, best condo raging/weirdness of any year, plus Outkast and quality sets) 4. 2013 (Condo crew was great, super relaxing, no problems, music was solid) 5. 2015 (only went Sunday, but majorly quality music. Many hassles made it worth it) 6. 2012 (Overall great but the disappointment of that fest following the first two was high during the fest, music was good)
Important to note that from 2011-14 I had a corner balcony room at Island Winds East that was the room closest to the stages, so balcony action was so crucial for catching day sets, fireworks, chilling out of the sun mid day, mid-day deuces, showers, frozen girly drinks..)
Despite overhearing several conversations per day about high school graduations and having to deal with absolutely wasted frat boys and srat girls only there to take pictures, this weekend was amazing. I don't think anything will ever top 2014 for me, but the combination of Ellie and Florence to close out Sunday was a dream come true. I was pretty disappointed about Calvin, but thought PATD was a suitable replacement. I just wish they would have played more of their older stuff. The crowd would have been way more into it. I've got a free place to stay with a buddy in Chicago for Lolla this year, so all I have to do is find a ticket that isn't insanely expensive. Really looking forward to that lineup.
I know there's only a few Hip fans on this page, but Gord Downie had terminal brain cancer. They are saying they are going to do a final tour, but that seems pretty optimistic...bummer.
Staying six years at Island Winds East was amazing...good. 2010 was probably one of my faves. No crowd, lots of new and fun stuff, ZBB with Prez Hall was a great show given recent release of Foundation, cheap condo and ticket. A week with two tickets was less than $800 in 2010, now it is over $3000. I am definitely waiting on lineup before investing big bucks on a DJ as a headliner. When there were equal good lineups for younger and older folks with schedules that kinda balanced out, great.
I don't think I heard anyone comment on Judah and the Lion or Muddy Magnolias. Good? Also interested in Bass Drum of Death.
Given your Hangout 2016 experience and cross over to Bonnaroo. Top five crossovers I should lock for schedule? Thanks!

Yeah that was horrible news to wake up to. New album is out 6/17 I believe with tour to start soon after. He has known since December so I am sure he has some sort of idea on the timelines. That Buffalo area show is going to be a hard ticket to find.

My wife had Judah and the Lion on her must see list, I wasn't very familiar with them. I can tell you the crowd was far too large for the Mermaid stage (2015 Salt Life stage next to the Hangout). They sounded terrific and put on a great show.
I missed Bass Drum of Death. The Wailers were playing the same time slot and we ended up staying for the entire set. It's easy to get into the groove of reggae and the beach setting. My plan was to try and catch some of both acts, but that didn't happen.
