Yea playing the grab a taxi on esplanade game is not fun when it's freezing like it was last year. I'm not in any hurry to go anywhere after the fest except Friday. I'm worried about missing Odesza.
Freezing has to be relative here, I remember up here in Maryland Halloween wasn't cold at all. What is the temp usually like down there for Halloween?
Well I didn't dress appropriately on Friday and it dropped down into the 50s with a strong wind. As a southerner in shorts and a tshirt, it was miserable.
Yeah, generally October is 80s days/ and 60s nights and dry about 80% of the time.. That's our driest month. But you get fronts from time to time. First one of the year blew through the day Soundgarden headlined in 2011, and it got into the low 60s but had like 40mph winds. Same thing when Outkast played last year. It's never cold, but it probably won't hurt to pack a windbreaker, flannel or hoodie just in case. I usually wear shorts and a tshirt except on Halloween when I will dress up.

It's been cold a few time, I was cold the year of NIN. And in '09 for Black Keys and Silversun Pickups it fucking poured!! I don't remember it being freezing but it was wet, wet, wet.
Damn. I guess I was too fd to notice. Nails were great, and it was between 54 and 63 that day. Must have been dressed for it since I didn't remember that as a problem. Fwiw, weather park using data from 1974-2012 has the average high at 75 on the 31st and average low of 57.

Yea it's definitely a bring a jacket or hoodie type weather. The dudes who were selling the $20 guerras were making a killing last year.
Haha I am so ready for this. Here in Baltimore the high and low for today is 82 and 61.
Presuming you aren't wearing a costume, you will stick out like a good Yankee (I use this term loosely since you're from Maryland) always does. Hope you're ready. VOODOO in NOLA Halloween weekend is a special time.

Ill be wearing a costume for sure, on Halloween at least. It wouldn't shock me if our group stuck out, but that will make it that much more fun. We are soaking all of NOLA in.
Uber is very legit in nola, so don't worry about rides. You can get a ride really quick. I had never used Uber until the Chicago Dead shows in July and wow, that shit is a gamechanger.
Prob like 50K people on foot looking for cabs etc, you're just fucked pretty much. Using Uber you have it on lockdown and just hop in while hundreds of people are around you thinking "awwwwww....".
Nola obv ain't as on point as Chicago with Uber yet but I mean, my girl and I used it from her apartment to Republic and the guy was there within 2 mins. Uber in nola has rechanged my planning for Mardi Gras as it was such a bitch getting off the Megabus and finding a cab on f'n St. Claude, and even worse getting back to the bus stop on Ash Wednesday.
As for costumes, I'm always disappointed when Voodoo is on Halloween and most people aren't in costume. Are people that fucking lazy or just too cool? I don't get it. A music festival on Halloween in the coolest party city in the country ain't enough to make people put some effort in?
I'll be cosplay'in it for all three days with different costumes. I'll do a Billy Gibbons / ZZ Top one day, gonna be a dirty wook/zombie Raggedy Anne & Andy with my gf on Halloween and I might be a Satyr one day all painted up. I'll be Ajax from The Warriors one day if I'm feelin' lazy.
as for costumes I have one word for you, skeleboner. ima pump that bitch to 11 for JACK U.
I'll see you on the rail. Haven't decided on a costume yet, still consumed by my need to fulfill my mollyhead N00bert duties. Can't disappoint the Sarge. Will let you know.

Keep that railing behind closed doors, guys.
While I believe you are attempting a homophobic slight, I'd like to think you are referring to the smart play to not do cheese in plain sight. Thanks Flanders!

Schedule would typically be out relatively soon right? Any guesses on the main slots each night (finally 3 shows or abouts)? I'm really interested to see how the overlap is from the main stage to the Le Plur stage, especially for Jack U and Florence.
Right but looking at last year it may not necessarily be directly the same slot? Zedd went on before Outkast, Skrillex went on before Arctic Monkeys, and Pretty Lights went on after Foo Fighters started. I'd love to watch the beginning of Jack U and slide over to catch the end of Florence.
Fists, you are correct. Sets are usually somewhat staggered, and the main headliners (not Artic Monkeys though) typically get a 2(ish) hour slot whereas the DJ's might get 75 or 90 minutes (or possibly more in the case of Deadmau5 who is closing main stage).
Keep in mind that you will have other conflicts with 1 or 2 of what I call the alternative stages for closing times. A band like Public Image Ltd. or The Cult could easily be up against closers on the main stage and Le Plur (EDM) stage.
Having said all that, my bet would be:
Friday Night - Jack U vs. Florence & The Machine. My guess is Florence's set either starts a half hour earlier or ends a half hour later. You should be able to get to the back or side-front of the second set you want to see. I would think that Modest Mouse would lead into Florence and probably Alesso into Jack U. Jason Isbell is probably on one of the alternative stages earlier in the day (unless he gets a main stage afternoon spot) as will probably be Joey Bada$$ with the Soul Rebels and Yelawolf.
Saturday Night - Ozzy Superjam vs. Steve Angello. P.I.L. isn't going on the EDM stage, so they could easily be a 3rd option for closeout (alt stage) which would suck for me since I really don't want to miss any of Ozzy+Slash+Geezer+Tom Morello. Santigold is another possible alt stage closer. I think it goes Jane's Addiction into Ozzy and Duke Dumont into Steve Angello.
Sunday is the absolute mystery to me. I've asked everyone I know who has brought up Voodoo recently and have posted the dilemma here without any feedback. No one seems to have an answer to the Sunday schedule since they are closing the main stage with an EDM headliner (Deadmau5). One would assume that ZBB is too big to be on an alternative stage and isn't going to play on the electronica stage. So it seems reasonable that Zac Brown Band > Deadmau5 would be the last 2 acts on the main stage. With Chance the Rapper and Eric Prydz playing that day, does Voodoo put Prydz vs. Deadmau5 as the Sunday closing acts? Do they do Chance vs. Deadmau5 and put Chance on the EDM stage (knowing that Chance performs with a musical ensemble of 3 or 4 other guys)? I think Chance is too big for an alternative stage, so that probably won't work for Voodoo logistically. Then you have Slightly Stoopid who is big here but has a smaller fan base. They could be alternative stage closer or they could be afternoon main or alternative stage. So then does The Cult become an alternative 3rd stage Sunday closing act (e.g. The Cure vs. Bassnectar vs. Dr. John's The Night Tripper 2013)?
I'd love to hear any feedback on Sunday. I realize it's just a b.s. problem to have, but it annoys me since I can't figure it out.
Oh, and the full schedule came out last year on September 4th (or that's the date it was reported online by the local paper's digital media arm). That was a Thursday last year and would correlate to tomorrow. I'm also anxious to find out which vendors they're bringing back. I'm seriously hoping that Ninja makes a return with their Yakiniku again as I will eat one of those every day (no cheese or aioli but add sriracha and sesame seeds). Damn. My mouth is watering already.

Sunday definitely seems like the biggest question mark. I didn't mind the ZBB booking initially because I figured I'd see Mau5 at the other stage anyway. Now that I'm likely stuck watching them it's a bit more frustrating. I'm thinking it's Chance vs. Deadmau5, with Bro Safari maybe going on right Chance for final 45 minute spot. Chance goes on like half hour before Mau5 starts.

Sunday is mind bloggling, especially since even though Deadmau5 is closing the main stage, they have ZBB as the #1 act on the billing for that day. I think Slightly Stupid is going to be an afternoon set, but who the fuck knows with the cluster of booked acts on Sunday. I am lost that day.
Dr. John looks freed up Halloween weekend. If he isn't a last minute add for Voodoo maybe he'll play a late show on Devil's Night? That would be a lot of fun.
Not many late night shows announced thus far. Still waiting for shows from Tips and Howlin' Wolf to be announced. In fact, a Dr. John superjam at the Wolf would be ridiculous. Sch'mon wit it Fiyawerx
