Having today cancelled sucks, but even two days of Voodoo was better than most fests. It was cool meeting everybody and raging in the rain yesterday. Hopefully the weather will be better next year. Until BUKU.
House of Blues is announcing a show on Twitter soon and Eric Prydz is doing a show somewhere in town tonight. Might be one and the same show.
Prydz will be at The Metropolitan its $10 General admission
We might end up hitting this up. He is too house for me, but Snob said he does a good show live. A couple guys from other bands including someone out of Slightly Stoopid is supposedly playing at 3090 Frenchmen. That's way in the hood, but it was kind of a Superjam option. Everyone is bugging to see Chance, at least over here. I'm guessing he is doing maybe a house party if he is still in town. Title Fight picked up a show in Metairie. I was going to catch them today at the fest, but I'm probably not heading to Metairie.

Agreed. It's always fun as shit for me. I'll try to remember and post some final thoughts as well. Since it was only 2 of 3 days, I'm only doing a top 5.
1. Janes Addiction - it was my Top 1 show going into the weekend so I am biased. Yeah, it was rockstar, it was a bit cheesy in parts and Perry should have know Professor Longhair wasn't still around but they rocked. That's part of what I pay my Voodoo money for; and I want to rock at some of the Voodoo sets. I headbanged and threw up the horns most of the set since I knew most of what they played. It's been over 25 years since I have seen them, so I was ready.
2 Florence and the Machine - I only caught the last 40-45 minutes. This was special and a New Orleans show. Thanks. I'm a fan and apologize to myself for missing them so many times.
3. Ozzy - everyone knows Ozzy rules bra and he did. I can put up with Mama I'm coming Home and Shot in the Dark if they throw in NIB, Faeries Wear Boots and War Pigs.
4. Jack U - I knew what I was going to see from the Hangout set. This was in my opinion a significantly better show. Being on a major stage (Le Plur >>>>> Boom Boom) helped with the video and production work.
5. Clutch - No bullshit, straight ahead.
Great running into Festival Snob, mobilehangoutfan, Sarge, beacjhbobseger Vieux Carrean over the course of the weekend. I'll see all of you again many times to come. \m/
Costumes were great, but I think a lot of people last minute ditched on Halloween due to weather. One guy was in a lady's dress ride the unicorn blow up costume. When he hopped, that was insane. There was also a kid in a great Princess Leah costume which was funny. I trolled people all day in my sheik costume. Most were amused, and I had some good interactions with random Jesuses, 'murikans and such. First comment on my costume of the day was, "looka that Isis muth'r'fuk'r. Haha. But then I took a gut shot from the left from some dude late who told me my costume was ignorant. I flipped the script on him and left him confused as to my intentions. Everett had a blowup fat chick in a bikini along with a long blonde wig. These rather butchy girls in the vip area at Flambeau were not amused. Haha. Get a sense of humor bitches.
I got to sample a few things but nothing new to me. I had some Dragos Oysters, Yakiniku, Bbq puff of doom. Booze wasn't cheap but I drank my fair share of 25 oz Becks all weekend along with some strong whiskey drinks. I planned on trying to go to a couple of merch and sponsor booths today. THe zippos were awesome this year, I liked some of the tshirts, and the bandana was also cool. All that stuff was supposed to be on today's agenda, but it's whatever.
Sound Bleed didn't bother me that much this year except when Hundred Waters played and Flowtribe was on the main stage. There is nothing you can do about it because of the nature of their style of play. I very much enjoyed seeing them and will see them in the future. It's very, very unique. I also loved getting to see Joy Formidable and Babes in Toyland. Mike Dillon was sick. That was a lot of equipment. Ultimately it was a partying two days with a typically wasted Voodoo crowd but people having fun and making the best of it in the rain. Saturday was a great day for me. And with the night shows we caught - Bob Moses, Break Science with Talib, Funk Sabbath and Tauk, I got a lot of music in. Voodoo is always a blast for me, and I did not get enough abuse in two days. So I'm Jonesing with everyone else wanting more.
Jane's Addiction was definitely the best show of the weekend. And I'm not sure if it's possibly for a band to sound better than that. We were also blown away by Florence. Never really got into her music, but she is the real deal live.
I got to Voodoo later on both days than I usually do so I missed a lot of early bands. I had an awesome time though, as usual. Halloween was pretty balls out awesome for me.
Favorite sets: 1. Ozzy- I've heard people bitch about his voice etc. I don't care. It's fuckin' Ozzy. Having Morello, Slash, Geezer etc coming out really stepped this show up from the 2010 Voodoo show. The rain made it fairly climatic as well. Had some very surreal concert moments at this one.
2. Jane's Addiction- One of my all time fav bands and they always bring it. The sound was incredible, but I think the performance was better at Bayfest last year. Navarro def gets the "cool looking motherfucker" award. It was good hearing Ritual songs but I was disappointed we didn't get the whole album like the Warfield and FFF next weekend is getting. Two of the songs hadn't been played since '91, which is cray.
3. Florence + The Machine- If I had known her music before the show this would be ranked higher on my list maybe. I was blown away by how good she was and def understand her headliner status. Wish I had gotten close at Voodoo 2010 and hadn't skipped Sunday at DeLuna 2012 when she played on the beach. Ah well.
4. The Growlers- Great band, cool sound, really fun Halloween set. I will def be checking these guys out again.
5. Babes In Toyland- They sounded great and the small crowd was really digging them.
I didn't see a ton of other sets but I did enjoy Peaches, Clutch (Mike D Sit in was ...clutch. ah) and what I heard of PiL. I missed Giorgio. We were walking over then I hear Jane's playing Stop! so we hauled ass back over. Voodoo's App was all wrong, of course. Saw Jack U for like 10 mins and was not impressed. Ruby Amanfu was chill but not what I wanted to hear at the time.
House of Shock on Thursday was great! Had a great time as expected. Nice meeting you finally Vieux! The 3D part was obviously the best part this year. I missed the trippy redneck dissection room from last year though.
Muddiest fest ever on Saturday. Shit was ridiculous. I was gonna skip Sunday bc of not wanting to deal with that again. Funk Sabbath late night show was awesome but not nearly as funky as I expected it to be. The horns were pretty awesome though.
Mastodon late night was crucial. They had great costumes, particularly Brann who was a creepy clown and Troy was a wolfmang. They played mostly stuff off the newest album, with some from The Hunter mixed in. Older songs played were Blood & Thunder, Megalodon, Oblivion, Crystal Skull, Bladecatcher and I want to say they played March of the Fire Ants but it may have been Where Strides the Behemoth. Longinus?
People were overall friendly and cool at the fest but I did have to shove a few people for being careless and slamming into me and my gf over the weekend. It's not hard to snake through a crowd. I just don't get this young generation's complete not-give-a-fuck-itude for running into people constantly and not apologizing.
Missed out on the bootleg tshirt guy this year, always bummed when that happens. I did get the Jane's Ritual 25th anny tour shirt though, as well as the Ozzy Voodoo shirt.

Enjoying reading all the reviews, sounds like everybody had a fun time despite the weather. I was thinking that the rain during Ozzy could have definitely elevated the performance rather than take away from it. Weather wise I always think of that Swans set at Roo a few years back. I don't think it rained but the dark, dark clouds started rolling in during their set, just made the whole vibe all the more menacing. Got some breezes that actually made everything feel colder, so unnatural and off putting in the best way.
My last plan was just to come on Sunday to catch Prydz and mau5, now I'm glad I didn't commit to that so that I wasn't let down.
Mobile folks: we ate Von's downtown for the first time on Saturday, pretty damn good. Great food, great ambience, great service. I got one of the specials which was shrimp over soba noodles with veggies and what not, wife got the pad thai. Fried green tomatoes for the app were on point. I like the whole southern/Asian mash up thing they have going on.
Saturday was the day, Post, but Friday would also not have left you disappointed. In that regard...
I'm gonna kick tomorrow
Yeah I'm the shit. Yeah yeah I'm the shit
Wine is fine, but whiskey is quicker. Suicide is slow with liquor. r
I haven't gone over the weekend with the Brood yet except for some surface level shit. Collin missed Jane's because he had to work and only got there for the beginning of Ozzy. He said it's his Top 1 regret. Kiwi was more or less in shock. Everett agrees with me and beachbobseger that Jane's was the best set. Of course Jane Says was his lullabye song as a baby, so I think he gets comfort from that. I sang/screamed most of it in his ear, and he didn't tell me to stfu so that's my take.
Not much is up yet on YouTube other than a few songs here and there. I haven't found the full streams from Yahoo yet, but I'll rewatch Jack U, Florence, Ozzy and Jane's at some point if anyone pirated that shit or if they post the pro-shot shows.
However, I did find Ozzy's encore of Paranoid with Tom Morello and Slash in it's entirety. Zaitch and solidrock may also appreciate since you guys didn't go. Paranoid starts at 9:49. It's pretty much a no bullshit version of Paranoid except the hey chants).
Yeah that was badass, damn. Safe to say you can't really go wrong with anything involving Ozzy, Slash, and Morello.
That was my thing. It's Halloween and who else do you want to party with besides Ozzy? Maybe if Phish was doing an in costume show or if it was full on Black Sabbath, that would be about the only things comparable. Throw in Geezer Butler, Tom Morello and Slash, and yeah, it's a fn Halloween party.
Geezer and Morello were the allstars of that Ozzy set. Ozzy squirting people in the audience with the fire hose while it was raining was a great idea. And him pouring buckets of water over his head had us cheesing pretty hard too.

Yeah man, I missed the water bucket part walking over from 5 minutes of Lettuce. They mentioned it in the story in the paper. Ozzy clowning some shit. Yeah, I didn't mention Geezer in my write up of that day, but it was so fn cool seeing him play and getting all that video face time. I was wasted, yeah duh, but I think he came out in the middle of the set when they did Snowblind, Behind the Wall of Sleep, Faeries and maybe War Pigs? Haha. Geezer is a founding father of metal
Speaking of that, I gotta say I was proud of my daughter. I don't know if you met her, she was in a cow costume, but she thought Ozzy, Jane's and Florence were also her top 3. I was pretty proud of that. She loves her rap and edm and all that shit, and she's only 19. But it's heartening to see my last mf grow up and be able to hang when it counts and also to make (sometimes) the right musical decisions. I wasn't sure what she thought of Jane's at first because she was kind of shaking her head at some of the over-the-top shit they were doing. But her and her entire army stayed for that set. She did tell me Chance would have been 1, but they all love that mf. I guess it's post racial in a lot of ways, and she loved his Waka set.
Also talked with my assistant at work who live streamed it and also thought it was great but that Perry needs to cool it with the Botox. I didn't notice
Thanks. I was near the front but off to the left side by the screen, so I couldn't see except when he was up there in front. I guess it makes sense because I recognized his guitarist and drummer (don't know their names) but I cant place another bassist from the set. I thought he was just up there in the middle. Lots of great Sabbath over the weekend, but I can't believe I didn't see yall Friday night. A couple of acts threw a song or song part of Sabbath into their sets, but I can't remember who all did. One of my boys' friends told me he left for Zhu and Shorty did a cameo spot. Good for him, but I wasn't leaving the Ozzy set.
^rekt Hope this doesn't kill the fest. Anyone get a refund yet? Shit, the credit card I purchased my pass with nearly a year ago is no longer active, so Imma have to jump through hoops. Not sure if I should go ahead and contact them to tell htem that or wait to see if they figure that out and contact me.

I surprisingly got refunded through Stubhub. Didn't see that coming. Figured it'd be original purchasers.

Has anyone been refunded yet? It says that they will try to refund the CC that you purchased on and if they can't they will contact you, but they also said the refunds will start on November 13. Everything has to be done for December 1, that is less than a week from now...
