I doubt they'll share Macca or if they could even get him to commit to back-to-back weekends.
This bummed me out because it makes a lot of sense. I can't see the 70 year old man doing consecutive weeks, let alone in one city.
Crazy thought - What if he was to only do one weekend? They sort of set a precedent last year with Lorde being exclusive to Weekend 2. What if the #1 headliners were different each weekend? I can see Metallica playing both, or just one if they were too costly.
Why couldn't he commit to back to back weekends? He just did a world tour that started May 3, 2013 and is still going. He has shows back to back nights on the tour.
I'm subconsciously an agist. But moreso, I'd imagine a two performance commitment from him probably costs a hefty amount. I certainly hope my dumb theory is inaccurate.

Ok monetary value for him both weekend making him unlikely I can get behind, being too old when he's been touring for almost two years straight not so much.
Seriously though, he was basically the reason I went last year. I had a blast and don't regret it at all.
And yea, the reason MACCA is out, IMO, is booking him back to back weekends would cost a crazy amount of money. And if they booked him for just one of the two weekends the money left for a HL the next weekend wouldn't be a whole lot.

Not to be a dick, but you understand how economics works, right? They have twice the ticket and concession sales because of the second weekend with which to pay their headliners. It's not like they have a limited amount of cash that they have to stretch into two weekends. They had BIGGER headliners last year than the one-weekend Lollapalooza and paid them just the same. And it's not like the state of Texas only has 80k Beatles fans.
I don't think he'll be there just because he won't want to be tied to one region for a week plus. But none of us really know, and ticket sales/price is definitely not an impediment.

Usually when you start with "not to be a dick", you end up coming off as a dick. No exception here!

Oh yes. I understand how economics work. I understand how business works too. And that bolded bit, that's what would cost more. Getting him to commit to two shows back to back weekends in the midst of a world tour would cost more than average, I'd imagine. And comparing last year's ACL & Lolla line ups is pretty ridiculous. That had nothing to do with it being one weeknd vs two weekends, especially since they shared Em...

They know what premiums they're required to offer monetarily - they've been doing two weekends for a few years now. It's not a question of financials, it's a question of whether Sir Paul wants to hang around central Texas and thereabouts for a week. If he does, they'll pay him the going rate for both shows, just like if he had one festival the first weekend and another festival the second weekend. This isn't their first rodeo, and they're not setting up a standard where they overpay everybody to hang around. They offer 2 x Festival Fee and that's that. If Macca wants to go to Oklahoma City midweek and pick up another date, that's his option. Lots of bands do that. But they're absolutely not offering some prohibitive bonus to keep acts sitting around all week long. It's not a residency, it's two shows at the same venue one week apart. They can afford him twice because they can afford him once and both weekends will sell out.
But, like I said, I don't think he's going to want to just hang around for a week. I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong. Heck, I won't be surprised to see Dave Grohl and company hanging around on Sixth Street on some of the off days, enjoying the town.
How is comparing last year's ACL & Lolla lineups EVER ridiculous? They both sold out and ACL had better headliners, that's an established fact that you won't find a single person to disagree with. They shared Em/Outkast/Calvin Harris/Skrillex/Avetts, but Lolla had Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon and ACL has Pearl Jam and Beck - Pearl Jam alone being a bigger get than both of those bands (and more expensive as well). Yet they got all of those acts to commit to two weekends without trouble.

I skipped ACL last year but may go this year due to all the arguing on this thread. Jk. Hey Krispy, if ya need a place to crash I may have ya covered pending we party our asses off at HoF.
Paul McCartney - Foo Fighters - Florence & The Machine - Robert Plant - The Weeknd - Bassnectar
Foos - Florence Robert Plant - Bassnectar Macca - The Weeknd
I think you're aiming way too high here. Remove MACCA & Robert Plant and it becomes a bit more realistic and much less disappointing for you. (FF would be #1 btw, then add another HL in place of MACCA... With Florence being a HL I'd say we'd be looking for a #2..)

I agree. I am sticking with my original prediction:
Foo fighters Metallica Drake (or Kendrick)
That's looks about right. The Weeknd would be amazing. I've been trying to see him for a year now. They had a $5 show advertising him here, but it was bs and a typo for The Weekend.

100% agree. Idk if you've peaked in the Lolla thread lately at all or not, but the MACCA vs The Weeknd on Friday is a legit conflict for me for this exact reason. I want to see him sooooo badly. If we could get The Weeknd at ACL that'd eliminate that conflict for me so I could see MACCA guilt free and still see The Weeknd... I just want to have my cake and eat it too, ok. Why is that so damn hard!!!!!
ACL has been on my radar for years, and I've always been envious of it's lineups. It's just really tough for me to make it out to Texas amid classes/finances/life in the middle of October, but I'm hoping that will change this time around!

When golden voice announced that they would partner with HOF they said that foo fighters would be playing hangout this year as a U.S. festival exclusive show. Wouldn't seem very exclusive if they are booked for two weekends at ACL back to back.

Really? I didn't hear that news. Well, there goes my one of my headliner guesses.

That's the first I've heard of that announcement. Anyhow, with the majority of the major fests happening in the spring and summer, October is like a new year almost. I still expect them to be on the lineup.
