I kind of like the concept of leaving the Superjam lineup up for debate/speculation. Like in a "surprise!" kind of way, presuming it's not half-baked musically which would be sad.

This would be neat, but I don't want to wait out for a spot for a show I would have known that I wasn't going to like, but I would ultimately would be afraid of missing some epicness. Also I think Bonnaroo really has started to push the superjams as something wholly unique to the festival and want to use the names involved as a draw.

If they keep Having up to 3 super jams, this year is gonna be really amazing. Jim James, Robert Plant, Brittany howard, Gary Clark Jr., Ben Harper and maybe even more surprise guests might show up for the rock superjam.
The Ed Helms Bluegrass Situation will definitely feature Chris Thile or all of the Punch Brothers or maybe even Shakey Graves and Bela Fleck.
If they have an electronic superjam again this year will blow the roof off. Bassnectar or Flying Lotus can be the curator. And who knows! maybe deadmau5 will show up or play an unannounced set like Skrillex last year.
The only one missing is Elvis Costello. You have Jim James(MMJ), Marcus Mumford(Mumford and Sons), Taylor Goldsmith(Dawes) and Rhiannon Giddens(solo) all there. So they would need to find somebody to fill in for Costello and have prob a rotating group of artists to help out with whatever else they want to add into the show.
Screw New Basement Tapes (which I'm sorry, but that isn't gonna happen), still holding out hope for Flying Lotus to curate it.
So you think it's just pure coincidence that they booked 4/5 of the contributors?
personally i'd guess yes. if they were going to have them don't you think they'd just book them? and not use a superjam spot to basically just have a band play? just thinking outloud
edit: being a super group i guess it's a little different

haha, that's what cracks me up people say "there's no way we are getting a NBT super jam!" Like, guys... They booked every available act involved and only left Elvis off because he's in Europe. I will be shocked if they don't do the NBT superjam. It's a shame they keep doing the damn Bluegrass superjam every Sunday because it'd be amazing to chill at the NBT SJ on Sunday afternoon

New Basement Tapes seems like a logical guess (and would be awesome). It just doesn't seem likely to me.
My theory is that Jimmy Fallon and Roots are going to curate the Superjam. I remember reading on this board that Jimmy Fallon and the Roots were "confirmed and seemed likely". There is also a healthy discusion in the Comedy Lineup thread about Jimmy Fallon having "Bonnaroo on the mind". This includes an awesome drunken rendition of Billy Joel's own "Piano Man" that has gone viral. Also consider that Roo clearly likes the idea of having a comedian lead the Superjam as they have let Ed Helms run one for going on three years now. Take all that with the fact that ?uestlove has curated his own Superjam already.
So My Morning Jacket played "Down On the Bottom" (one of the songs from the New Basement Tapes) the other night in Mexico w/ Taylor Goldsmith. This gave me the thought that maybe instead of a NBT superjam, we may get a couple of those songs sprinkled into MMJ's set. This could work out better logistically because I had trouble seeing Marcus Mumford doing his headlining set and then immediately going to the superjam. So if MMJ is playing the other night and he comes on during their set, that would make much more sense. Not saying it's going to happen, but I think at this point, that's the most realistic New Basement Tapes action we'll get. Then the superjam could be opened up for something like Jimmy Fallon and the Roots or Flying Lotus.

No, I love STS9, but FlyLo's super jam would most likely be better (largely due to the potential artists that could join him.) That being said, at least some of the guys from STS9 should be involved in the super jam as part of the band
Am I the only one that would be disappointed by NBT?
Because you don't like the album or because you're hoping for something a little more unique?
I do always tend to prefer the more random Superjams than the ones where it's an established thing already (like GRAB in 2006). I wouldn't mind if they did a few songs from NBT with those guys but I'd definitely want to see them pick other classic songs too. If it were just an hour and a half of the album I'd be disappointed.

The album is fine but it's nothing special and I don't want to go into a Super Jam knowing what to expect. If it was the NBT people plus guests doing real Dylan and the Band stuff I would probably change my mind though
Twentyone Pilots feat. Ryn Weaver, Robert Delong, Unlocking The Truth and special guests (taylor swift)
Way to shoot for the stars... With the insane talent that they have at the farm this year, if they dared do this Superjam, I'd be beyond disappointed. Like, "Hey, I know we have the lead singer from Led Zeppelin on the farm and a bunch of other amazing musicians who put out some of the best music today, but we are gonna have these two guys lead the super jam, even though all they do is put out a weak, teeny bopper version of RATM for white tweens and teens who complain that their parents "don't understand us!" That would just be embarrassing for a bonnaroo when there are so many options that have much more potential and would draw a bigger crowd.

So currently we have one Superjam, which is The Bluegrass Situation Jam. There's a ? Superjam yet to be announced, still holding out for the Jimmy Fallon Superjam. It will probably be NBT though. However that only leaves two superjams, so is a third one going to be announced? I don't think the Atomic Bomb is a Superjam, but I do expect it to be a LN affair. Thoughts?
The only superjams will be the Bluegrass a Situation and the "Superjam !" unless they do a surprise superjam like the hip hop super jam in 2013, but that is very unlikely. I think the reason for them having one less superjam than they've had each of the past couple years is that Atomic Bomb! is sorta like a superjam with all the talent involved and the potential guests.
