Tryna go to this fest this year. Haven't been to Chicago since 2007 but I have a free place to crash, so why not
Would love if S-K and D'Angelo were two of the three headliners. MM seems a logical third choice for a headliner, though I'd personally prefer Patti Smith performing Horses or Sufjan
I really really enjoyed pitchfork last year. if the lineup is just as good I may return. buuuttt it's also the same weekend as the eaux claires festival justin vernon is putting on, which is super close to minneapolis. we shall see! I'll let the lineup decide for me.

Don't think Sleater-Kinney will be there, they recently said they're avoiding the festival circuit because "they view their shows as events, and they lose that excitement at a festival". But maybe they'll do it if they're headlining?
Tame Impala could also work as a headliner. The Strokes might be another possibility but at this point they might be more likely for Lolla or Riot Fest.
Sleater-Kinney D'Angelo Frank Ocean Modest Mouse Sufjan Stevens Patti Smith Aphex Twin The Strokes
Definitely wouldn't bank on the Strokes. Tame Impala are way more popular in 2015 than when Lonerism first dropped but I'd be surprised to see them headline this fest.
Would anticipate one of Ride or Swervedriver to perform. Ride would be the more exciting get of the two seeing as they only have 2 shows in North America on the books at the moment. They'd be this year's Slowdive equivalent
I want to get to this thing sometime, but man it is expensive to stay in Chicago that weekend.
have you looked into hostels?
I've never used one myself because I have college friends in chi-town, but I have a lot of friends that used them and recommend it. I can get hostel names from them if needed!

They link to one nearby on the festival website, but even that one jacks up its' prices quite a bit for that weekend. It is a lot more affordable than a hotel ($80ish a night when factoring in parking) though so could be an option if I really like the lineup. I'll look into some others that aren't quite as close maybe.

It's very easy to get to the park on the train and aftershows are sprinkled throughout the city so you'd probably want to end the night in downtown, blue line or red line territory anyways
sleater kinnney put out a statement saying not to expect them at any festivas. they view their shows as events and festivals diminish that.
Did you read anything in this one page thread before posting?
actually, the only post i didn't see was the one saying what i said. did you notice the person who posted four hours after that post saying they thought the pool of headlienrs included sk?
considering you were pimping them only 2 posts before the one in question i'd say you're on shaky ground calling me out.

I'm scared about Pitchfork, because they are going to nab a lot of acts I would love to see at Lolla. If I were from Chicago, then I would go to both. Sadly, that's not the case. I always opt for Lolla, but I have a feeling Pitchfork is really going to stake a claim for being a fest that people need to pay attention to.
Headliners Modest Mouse- Lolla is going to miss out on this act, I just have a gut feeling. D'Angelo- They keep bringing R&B acts from the grave. Prime example R. Kelly in 2013. Robyn & Roykstopp- They usually bring a higher profile female act. Remember Bjork? This would be the icing on what is sure to be a great lineup.
Undercard TV on the Radio Ride Run the Jewels Grimes James Blake Flying Lotus Tyler, the Creator The Weeknd The War on Drugs Perfume Genius Parquet Courts Freddie Gibbs and Madlib Young Fathers Magical Cloudz

Really? Wow that could possibly hurt Pitchfork. Surprised they don't have it earlier in July with this fest in the loom. Then again if you want to be a fest people respect, then you put your money where your mouth is and hold it the same weekend.

Not a bad list. The thing is, they usually dont have acts play pitchfork back to back years (which a few exceptions) so I don't see Magical Cloudz or Grimes doing it again.
Also, The Weeknd might be big enough to headline Pitchfork. They are almost at an Arena level. In NYC, they played the Barclays Center.

Are Robyn and Royksopp still touring together? Royksopp just announced a handful of Euro festival dates without Robyn. One festival (Skral) is on July 14-15.
Tame Impala could also work as a headliner. The Strokes might be another possibility but at this point they might be more likely for Lolla or Riot Fest.
Unless Pitchfork either A. Start booking bands they don't like or B. Start liking The Strokes, I doubt they'll ever play Pitchfork. They've been ripping The Strokes forever, even their 9.1 review for Is This It is begrudgingly positive.
I haven't looked at tour dates but Run the Jewels makes a lot of sense. They did Lolla last year and P4k loved that album.
You think? They were there in 2013.
They were there but Killer Mike & El-P did there own sets. Although Killer Mike joined him at the end for a few songs. I could see them doing a joint set this year.
Including their set at Lolla they played Chicago 4 times last year. I guess it's possible, but it wouldn't surprise if they skipped Chicago this summer.

Ah alright, hadn't realized they were around other than Lolla.
