Friday is pretty straightforward. Saturday, I think I'm going to Parquet Courts and not moving until Todd Terje and Future Islands are done. I will have to find a way to clone myself for Sunday afternoon, holy shit there is a lot going on in the middle of the day.
that courntey barnett/perfume genius/jamie xx/clark/caribou overlap is brutal. thank goodness pitchfork is small enough to run around.
How soon after lineup drop do 3-day passes typically sell out? I'd really like to make this work but I need to find someone to stay with before I feel comfortable purchasing.
and even if it does sell out, the secondary market was pretty strong. I found a pass for my friend about a 3-4 weeks prior to the fest last year for under face value. there was quite a high quantity available.
plus day passes aren't a ton more (well, last year anyway) and could be a good backup - I'm pretty sure only one day sold out last year. if the others did, it wasn't until really close to the fest. someone correct me if I'm wrong ^
PS if anyone is looking for a place to stay, this season's real world house is only a few blocks away!!!!!! I'm sure you could find someone to bring you home every night!!!!!
Todd Terje playing is pretty much justification for me wanting to buy a ticket right now..
let's gooooooooo
my friend lives ~10 blocks away from the fest and I stayed there last year. it was amazing.
I'm almost definitely going to go. This'll be my 7th year going, so I obviously can't keep myself from going. This may be the first year that I don't have a festival buddy, though. My brother is just moving back from New Zealand in a few weeks so he said he might not have the capital to justify going. I told him I'd front him the money, but whether he takes me up on that is something else entirely. Anyway, I've been staying with the same girl since 2008, so if I do go, I'll likely be staying with her.
This all remains to be seen, but I'll obviously let you know if I decide to go...probably on this thread...probably in like two hours.

I was waiting on buying a 3 day until I saw the lineup, but grabbed one as quick as possible after seeing this lineup. Thrilled about it - and the mile trip home each night doesn't hurt either.

I get that this is underwhelming for some people, but it's so fv<|<ing perfect for me. I had just sold my LE New 3ds to afford Big Ears, but I used the money to do this as soon as the lineup dropped.
Sleater-Kinney selling out with no sale announcement in DC is probably another deciding factor.
Also, I think Chance headlining is a stroke of genius, he's been on the cusp of blowing up for a little while now (a lot of the pop-radio kids I know love Acid Rap,) and all he needs is a little more of a push. Plus, closing the fest with a high-energy homecoming show featuring a full live band is just a good call no matter how you slice it.
Hopefully I'll still do Big Ears and cover a good swath of Experimental and pop.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.

Who says this is an off-year?
To be fair, Chance closed Lolla on Sunday last year and his crowd was massive.

Everyone keeps talking about Chance closing Lolla. Chance closed a side stage at Lolla. Basically a tent. It was still huge, and so was his Bonnaroo show. With a new album coming out and a live show supposedly drawing influence from The Lion King musical, Chance is something I can definitely get excited about seeing in 2015.

He closed Perry's stage while KOL & Skrillex closed the main stages, and Darkside closed the Grove. Your wording is deceiving, you make it sound like he closed the entire festival unopposed.

A tent? Have you seen Perry's Since 2011? It's no tent.

That doesn't take away from the fact that his crowd was huge. In fact, it just further justifies that Chance has already blown up and doesn't really show any signs of slowing down.
