Incase you missed it: -Ghostface Killah -Elijah Wood DJ Set -Will Butler of Arcade Fire as DJ Windows98 -Run the Jewels, Spoon, Big Data, Joy Wave, and Robert DeLong are everywhere -Fader Fort is INVITE ONLY /w Badge holder priority....whatever that means. -No word on Music Keynote Speaker
Wonder what will be the easiest to get into this year? I'll only be in town Wednesday and Saturday. I know I'll hit up the Waterloo shows at some point. Any idea how difficult it'd be to get into Stubhub/Clive bar on Wednesday? That Vaccines and Cribs show was made for me.
Rainey Street will probably be packing. Id say get there when the bar opens, see if you can get in and don't leave if you definitely want to get in on that show.
Waterloo is open and free. So is whatever is at Empire Control Room.
If you have twitter, look for sxswfreee or a similar handle to explore more free options.
You guys, watch for the KEXP day shows at Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop. They are free, have a good lineup of bands, and free Sierra Nevada.
The hunt for free booze is half the adventure.
Also to get around. I suggest parking on the east side of I35 and getting around via bike or the citie's rental program B-cycle. $8a day for essentislly unlimited use when one ride is contained within a half hour. If you go over 30,its $4 for an additional 30.
GOod call! Def trying to see DJ Win98. I'll update shortly. Still some stuff to drop according to twitter. FFFfest is going to have a showcare too. Maybe a word from the Fader Fort. Windish Agency also put out a line up. Lots of rehashing of bands like big data, kopecky, reobert delong, ect. Busta Rhymes will be showing up for a performance at book signing.

I think Vans had like 3 free beer tickets. Im going to get my semi annual free haircut via Ray Ban if they are there. Birds Barbershop fid mine at Funfunfun Fest. The crazy thing about sxsw that differs than every other fest Is you don't know the "headliners" until a week or even a day before the music fest even starts. The line up so far blows apart any fest at the moment and thr big guns haven't been announced.

The Spin RSVP is open and Run THe Jewels, Twin Shadow, Earl Sweatshirt and Will Butler are playing. Last year this didn't stay open long on the rsvp. It was endless free crispin last year.
Spoon is playing the free Auditorium Shores show Thursday night, fyi.
I think I'm going to try and swing Tuesday-Saturday. I have RSVP'd to just about everything. No plans as of yet but I guess that's sort of the beauty of this fest.

I am planning on Tuesday thru Saturday also. The hype hotel line-up just got released.
I usually have hype as my go to party since I found an all access badge on the ground in 2013 and no one has questioned it. Back stage access if I want, but I don't really bother the bands. I just wish they had better beer.

Thinking I'm going to be in town for Friday and Saturday, and will be my first SXSW experience. Pretty overwhelmed by it at this point, mainly because it's been fairly hard to find centralized info. This thread has definitely helped though!
What are typically the most packed venues? I'll probably try and avoid those for the most part. Would love to hit up the FFF showcase at Mohawk for Thee Oh Sees, but have a feeling that one will be packed.
I might just end up wandering around town where my ear leads me, who knows.

Get in line early for The Mohawk, like around 9 and you should be in for the early acts. i had to wait around three hours to get into the Pitchfork day party a couple of years ago and missed a couple of bands I wanted to see. The night event lines can stretch a few blocks and pass holders will get first access. I avoided lines at Mohawk for bands like The Stooges and just went to Holy Mountain and walked right in and saw Follakzoid and Holy Drug Couple and others and between those sets walked over to Elysium for Andy Stott and got in instantly. I went through the schedule in detail and had at least three options of venues at any give time and sometimes just picked the one with the shortest or no line.
