Burst pipe in the attic, looks like. Water leaking out from behind the fridge and on the side of the house through the edge of the roof. Seems like we caught it quickly after turning the water back on, fortunately, but we'll be without water for who knows how long.

Can you get to the pipe? If so, you can cap it off, then turn the water back on until a plumber can fix it.
High Temps in St. Paul since Saturday 2/5 1, -2, 1, 9, 9, 1, -4, -2, -2, 0.
It’s supposed to get up to 12 today. Heat wave.
I’m a New Englander and I have no clue how you survive in Minnesota in winter. Absolutely bonkers
TBH, it’s probably not all that different from what you experience. Usually 10s and 20s with snow on occasion. Our cold snaps are just a bit more brutal, but it usually doesn’t snow when it’s brutal out. Low 30s can suck because that’s when we get the monster snow.
But as justinmn9319 said, you don’t fuck around with cheap winter clothes. Nice winter boots, warm coat and hat and gloves and just avoid the outside, especially when there’s wind. I also wear snow pants literally everywhere I go and masking is wonderful in winter because you can basically cover everything from the cold too.

I don't think so, really. It's way back in a corner of the attic under a bunch of insulation and I'm not totally sure where exactly the leak is. I'm super amateur when it comes to all that, anyway. Not sure how to do it or if I'd have what I need. I'll look for some videos online.
Powers back on for now. Got enough food and water to last a bit. Fingers crossed everyone who is still without gets power back soon. Hopefully we’re through this by morning
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Saw on the local ABC affiliate that there is a new guidance that power can't be cut for longer than 12 hours. How that wasn't a law all along is beyond me. Except, oh yeah, Texas is hell.

They can say it "can't be cut" all they want. If the powers not there, it's not there. It's infuriating that this has lasted so long.
I've never been so tired and cranky in my life. I've lost power for days a time because powerlines were on the ground. This shits so far beyond reason it makes me sick.

I feel like I've said this a million times but: rolling blackouts. There's no reason I need to have power for going on forty hours now and other people have had none for longer than that.

From what I've gathered, rolling blackouts arent going to work when there's so little power. From my understanding, we were struggling to keep energy diverted to priority lines (like hospitals and stuff). GF worked (ER Nurse) Tuesday and they lost power (and access to the meds) for a while. Throw in the surge from kicking load on and off in different places and you lose a lot more.

Are you near a hospital, school, pharmacy, etc? If you on the same line as something essential then your power won’t be cut
look, I think it's quacking weird to bring cup ramen on a plane. like, that is absolutely bizarre to me on a few levels. i get airport food is expensive, but I have so many questions. where do you get the boiling water? is she just eating it dry? did she add the water before she boarded, or is she just gonna hold the (already opened) cup in her seat until cabin service? i'd never let my child do that. just make a peanut butter and jelly or something. but dude, you can't say that about a child.

I've expressed that my power was out for some time and we relocated for a day. No, I'm not near anything essential like that. I mean, I'm reasonably close to a school, but school's cancelled.
