I think it's time to start a weather thread for this year's Bonnaroo. In the past I have used this long range website for planning for Roo: The Weather Wiz
Obviously this isn't the most accurate but the past 3 years it has been pretty spot on. I think the forecast looks pretty good! I hope it doesn't get too hot! Sunny and warm sounds good to me!
1/30: Cold War Kids
2/6: Cherub
4/22: The Mountain Goats
5/25: Laura Jane Grace "Killing Me Loudly"
5/31: The Decemberists
6/11-6/14: BONNAROO 2015
6/28: Against Me!
6/30: Against Me!
It's gonna be sunny, it's gonna be partly cloudy, it's gonna rain, it's gonna be humid, it's gonna be occasionally windy, it's gonna be slightly chilly at night, it's gonna be far too hot for thousands of people at one point, it's gonna be far too cold for thousands of people at one point, it's gonna be particularly weather-y.
How could this be even remotely accurate? I'm no meteorologist but is it really possible to have any sort of forecast two months out?
Edit: That sounded kind of snooty. I'm honestly just curious.
As someone who studied meteorology in both undergrad and graduate school, sites like these kind of frustrate me. I know people are fascinated by the idea of getting exact temperature forecasts more than a month in advance, but you're probably better off just looking at climatology. Even 30-day forecasts of above/below average temperature and precipitation are frequently inaccurate, and those forecasts are based on probability rather than exact values. Might as well consult the Farmer's Almanac. No offense meant to the OP.

Well I wasn't expecting a lot of negativity for starting the thread. In the past the weather thread has started about this time of the month so I figured it was a good time to start it because I know a lot of people like to talk about the weather.
As I stated, I have used the site I shared in the past. For the past 3 years it has been a pretty good indicator of how the weather will be on the Farm. It's easy to project long range forecasts because it's based off past weather reports. The guy who runs this site is a teacher.
I just thought, it would be great to have something to compare to after Bonnaroo and for next year we have something else to compare. I know and realize that weather changes but I like to be hopeful that this forecast will be pretty spot on.

I don't think anyone was really being negative about the thread, just skeptical about the accuracy of the information provided.

As a supplement, here's the 3-month outlook (May-June-July) for temperature and precipitation from the Climate Prediction Center. These maps show the forecast probability of above/below average temperature and precipitation over the continental U.S. and Alaska. Darker shades indicate higher forecast confidence for certain conditions.
The week before roo last year, it was in the 90s here in little rock Arkansas. It's already in the 80s. I've done called it being a hot and humid summer at roo this year. Everyone prepare for heat!
All I know is that 93 and humid on the weds before hand sounds terrible to be setting up in. I'd like to see that number get like 10° lower as it gets closer....
I know a lot of people like to talk about the weather.
No, we're all just really awkward and socially inept so this is one of our safe topics. There's a reason we spend so much time on the internet.
Sprinkle in some talk about music, movies, food, alcohol, sex, dating, places to live, and nipples, and you've just covered a good 80% of Inforoo discussion.

80%? Shit, that's like 90%. Add in Bonnaroo specifically and we're at a full 100%

I love that on this map, the almanac writers were like, "eh, we think only Tennessee is going to be hot and wet in the south, so let's draw an outsized Tennessee just to convey that strongly to Inforoo this year."

A couple years back, I was at a Tri-State Weather Conference - and one of the speakers was claiming he could figure out weather patterns based on lunar cycles. It's a while ago so I forget the exact details, but he could predict within a couple days when some significant weather system was to come through the Hudson Valley.
I wonder if there is merit to it, since it's rained the last three Newport Folk weekends. Maybe there are patterns which storms go by, on a mesoscale/synoptic level.
I just prepare to feel like I'm dying no matter what. Michigan summers don't come early enough to prepare me in time, haha. For god's sake, it's still only in the fifties most days right now. =/

I'm in Ohio and we have now had like 3 days in a row that have been in the 70's. High 70's at that, it was 78 today!! It's wonderful.

We hit 70 on Thursday. I was sweating but it only lasted one day and we're back to 50s, haha. I went to Columbus last April and I remember it being drastically warmer, damnit.
I'm hoping living in Nola will have prepared me for this heat, yall all talk about. It's 7:30 and 75 degrees already.
It will. I've spent a good portion of my live in the Houston area. Us gulf coasters are definitely acclimated to it. We have more humidity then they experience at Bonnaroo.
It got to 77 here yesterday, and it was wonderful. Couldn't ask for better.
When I left here before Roo 2010, it was in the 60s and rainy - and had been for much of the week leading up to it. Totally left me unprepared for the mid 90s and brutal humidity down in Tennessee. Dewpoints above 72 are rare for New England - and it never dropped below 72 that weekend.

Well it's now 82 with 60% humidity, and I've been all out in it. Mid 90s with humidity in the 90s are typical around here, starting this month.
