TN is like any other place in the south. In the summertime, there is always a small chance for rain/pop-up storms.
However I have a feeling we're in for a wet Roo. We had a dry beginning to May but then it rained every day for the last week of May. I love the sunshine so I'm a bit sad.
It either has rained or threatened to rain (with big scary lightening and thunder) every day in the last two weeks here. That is pretty much what I am planning for. Rainy outfits, dry outfits and stuff to keep warm at night.
If it is indeed going to be rainy, I'm gonna have to go stock up on some rain gear. I'd be completely boned if it came a flood with the supplies I have now.
The weather report has changed a couple of times every day for the past week... I'm just gonna prepare for anything and make the best out of whatever the weather ends up being like... But with hope for nice...
Might be time to pick up some rainboots just in case.
I've got rain boots, but I hate wearing them because the men's options are always big-time heavy. It's like walking around with weights around your ankles and shins. I try to save all my energy for dancing - even if that means in the mud.

I agree with you on the men's rain boot options... Unless it's wicked cold, I just say f**k it and put on some shitty flip flops and wash my feet when I get back to camp...

Have you tried Shrimp boots before? I don't know if they sell those in other area, but I know that before they made the super cute women's rainboots, I would buy an inexpensive pair of Shrimp boots. I still have a pair, I don't wear them much, but they come in handy in a pinch. I don't know what other men rain boots are, but am assuming they are those big black ones that y'all use fishing and shit. Shrimp boots are those white ones. Or maybe y'all just don't like rainboots period.
And I'd think it would be best to look at predicted rainfall totals, not just the percentage of precipitation. Who cares if there is a 90% chance of rain if it is only going to rain .1 inches? At least, I think I'm analyzing that correctly. I didn't really study the climate in college.
I feel the same way. There could be a 100% chance of rain, but then it could rain once at 2pm for 25 minutes when its the hottest and cool everyone down.
The rain could be a positive thing... the only thing I'm hoping for is dry conditions on wednesday to set up camp!

Yeah, if I end up getting rain boots I may just get a larger women's pair because I don't give a fuck. I might even get some pink ones. I don't want to be walking around feeling like I have concrete blocks strapped to my feet.

Has the mud ever been horrible at roo? This is only my second year and I've never experienced heavy mud due to rain at roo before. I know the wakarusa "mud run" two years ago was ridiculous. I feel it could get bad around the johns heading to centeroo. Opinions?
Haha I don't even own rain boots. I have snow boots. I think I'll just pick up a pair of Tevas tonight, that way I'll be good either way. I hope you folks in the shoe thread know what you're talking about, because I'm doing this based solely on your recommendations.

I bought some too based on that thread. They looked cute on the foot display, but not so much on my feet. I have cute feet too, it was kinda disappointing.

but aren´t you waiting for the tevas at roo? I already ask for mines with that 35% discount.

Will the tevas be good in the rain and mud? I don't want to ruin my brand new roo sandals with mud...

Just buy something that straps to your feet well, for sure lol. In years past I've taken rain boots but I hate them because they get heavy and rub your feet and its just a mess, I'd rather go barefoot. But.... I have also worn sandals that had the worst straps ever and they just got stuck in the mud and became lost forever.
So, I just looked on the Roo sight and apparently Joules Rainboots is having a Welly Wanging competition (throwing rainboots and who ever throws them the farthest wins) and giving away free rainboots so I'll probably hit them up if it gets too bad. I also just remembered those awesome pool shoes from the 90's and those seem like a viable option because they stay on your feet.....
So looking for an opinion on this, because really this could be a terrible idea... I have neoprene booties that I wear for scuba diving... Just thought that this might be an ok idea if it gets super muddy... Not really gonna give support, but lighter than rain boots, and even though water will go through them it will keep your feet warmer than if u were barefoot... And a bit more protection.., like I said though, this could be a terrible idea...
