Saw them live at the Observatory in Orange County, California - & They crushed through Aaron Bruno's Debut Album Megalithic Symphony, after Imagine Dragons opened for them in 2011 (It probably helped them, as AWOL has a quality & edge to them that i have not seen in any band or live act in the last 5 years). My top 5 acts for the last 5 years are 1. AWOLNation @ the Observatory, Orange County , 2. Bloody Beetroots LIVE Ultra Miami 2012, 3. Dog Blood Coachella 1st wknd 2013 4. QOTSA Self-Titled Album Tour at the Wiltern 2011 5. Umphrey's McGee at HOB Hollywood tied with 5a. Odesza at NNMF 14.
The new AWOLNation album is eclectic & filled with vigor, 1st this band is unreal live, then to boot an amazing album in "Run" which is an awesome follow up to their initial release.
I for one am anticipating this set about as much as any other over the weekend. I will be seeing AWOLNation at Palladium on Aug 1st as well, after NNMF in mid July.
I'm seeing them this weekend so I have one less conflict at roo. Struggs McDrugs said they were good live so I started listening to them. I value her music taste as we are pretty similar. Plus she's one of my favorite people. I plan on snapping footage and maybe taking my gopro and catching some sets. It's only beale street so the crowds won't be big and crazy like possible at bonnaroo but i'm sure it'll still be a good time.
I plan on being sober. Which makes my life choices even worse. WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE
jk. I won't be sober. At all.
Sunday at Bonnaroo is going to be awesome for you. Congrats.
I'm seeing awolnation this weekend. Twenty one pilots (pit of course) with about 6 other people and leaving before billy joel bc no. Sunday will in fact be awesome for me bc of all the banjo that day.
AWOLnation is the worst band I've ever listened to
Despite your newfound and oh-so-sincere love of all things Pitchforkian, those who worship at the altar of 30 Seconds to Mars shouldn't throw stones.
So new account we're going back to square one? First you make fun of me for my music taste. Then you warm up to me, then we exchange pms like buddies. Woohoo!

I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of calling a band "the worst you've ever heard" when less than two years ago you were ultra hyped on Twenty One Pilots and 30 Seconds to Mars and shit. That's all. Those in glass houses, etc.

I came to this thread simply to point out that it wasn't put in the proper location, but while I'm here, yeah, I'll go ahead and mention that AWOL sucks.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I saw them at Made and they weren't bad. They have a better sound when the singer plays guitar with the band IMO.
I am not a fan, but was in the pit with a friend because he likes their "non-commercial" music (oxymoron) and the live show was good. The singer surfed the crowd, interacted and didn't sound like ass. I was actually kinda surprised.
1st I know how sensitive people can be about this... but nobody is going to out music snob me.
Once people are determined to dislike a band then said sad individuals puts music in said category to not even listen, give chance, or to have an open mind.
Which I am certain, anyone who says that AWOL suck, is similar/like another band, or shwaggle bush, has not seen them live & certainly isn't being honest with themselves. I believe they are completely unique as an act, & Aaron has vision.
Honestly, the less people who like it the more room for me to freely move.
Two festival Wknds/Days I like to reflect on in my many many days/nights spent knowing my self righteousness -Coachella 2006 Sat Eagles of Death Metal, Daft Punk + b2b2b2b Sun w/ Gnalrs Barkley, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Massive Attack, & Tool (opening 10,000 days tour) & Coachella 07 with Silversun, Interpol Friday night, Arcade Fire (funeral), Red Hot Chili Peppers (stadium arcadium) b2b Sat night then Sunday with the Willie Nelson, Air, Manu Chao, Rage Against the Machine (Quadfecta awesomeness) - I know when I see an elite band or act. But hey, I'm not trying to convert, just letting you in on a little secret that won't be for very long.
