Ya, that is a very nice lineup. If I were in the area and didn't have Levitation in such close proximity I'd be there in a heart beat.
And I just won a signed copy of ATW's new vinyl and tickets to their upcoming Austin show. So you, good sir, can suck it.
I'm seeing a lot of classic acts this year so I've been getting deep into bands with large, old catalogs so discovering newer music has slowed down for me. I'm looking forward to checking out all the bands in those last few lines.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
So jealous of this lineup. Wish I could go. Hey Rothric how did you get that signed ATW vinyl?
For this current leg of the tour, they were doing some promotion with Tunespeak.
You got points for watching/listening to vids/songs/pics and could redo it every 24 hours. Every point was an entry into a raffle. The winner got a signed copy of the vinyl and tickets to the show they entered in.
They added they Austin date to the promotion later then the rest, and I think that affected how many people knew about it.
I dominated that shit. Every day I'd go through the points ritual.
I had 72% of all raffle entries by the time it ended.
It said I pick up the vinyl at the show. So kind of hoping I get to pick it up from the band themselves. I bet they'll be working merch either way, but would be cool.
Not really. I mean there are no unique grabs on that lineup besides Huey Lewis And The News. I'm sure I could have fun if I lived in Atlanta, but it's not a very interesting lineup.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Pretty cool lineup for sure. I like it a lot more than the one from last year that so many people were ranting and raving about. Nice job for them. Top 3 is solid, and #6 (Deftones) would be either Top 1 or 2 for me along with Jane's Addiction. Then you have MMJ and Florence. Nice.
As for Explosions, I've only seen them once and loved their show. It's really not for everyone, but hopefully they'll find their way onto other lineups this year as well.

I booked a room at the Hampton Inn which seemed to be the cheapest one (not really cheap at $210 a night) I could find within walking distance. Let me know if anyone finds anything cheaper.

Being the impulsive individual I am, I decided five minutes ago to make the trip from Connecticut. Found a place a few blocks away on Airbnb for $34 a night. Still checking if any friends want to make the trip, but otherwise if someone wanted to split things down the middle let me know.
I guess I am in the minority here, but I think this is a huge let down after last year's lineup.
What would have saved it for you?
I agree with monster in that this lineup doesn't appeal to me the way the last two (and the first one, though I didn't attend that year) did. There's only one band in the first two lines I plan on seeing - MMJ. I thought Walk the Moon's first album was just fine but the latest one was terrible. And I'll admit I haven't heard much Jane's Addiction but the few radio songs don't do much for me.
Not sure this lineup needs to be saved as much as it doesn't directly appeal to me. As Monster said, Deerhunter and Beck sure would have helped, though.
All of that said, I still plan on going. I'll just have to dig a little deeper to find undercard acts I like than in previous years.

Check air bnb instead! Almost always easier to find good deals than hotels, when you're dealing w booking in a city.

Good time to remind everyone that the venue is less than a five-minute walk from Five Points Marta. That means you can get a hotel/Airbnb anywhere on the north/south or east/west line and it will be convenient.
Obviously it'd be great to stumble back to your room after the fest but you've got options.
