Blankets are allowed, what secret rule that they take them? That's bull and they're so much better than folding chairs. I can NOT stand folding chairs. It's like this weird pet peeve of mine. Especially when they are past the designated area. Or when people just leave them, do some wandering and come back and expect their spot to be here. I blame Jazzfest, honestly.
The misting fans were asked, too and then Friday or Saturday of last year someone decided that they weren't. They took the straws from the misters because they said that people could use them to spray acid. There was also a huge pile of blankets that were confiscated. I didn't have one so I never got an explanation.
A couple of years ago one of the entrances wasn't letting in full bottles of water or camelbacks. Enough people pointed to the sign at the entrance stating that they were allowed and they finally relented.
That's the problem with a volunteer security team. Everybody's not on the same page and then one person can start changing the rules and everyone else assumes that they're right.
They made me throw out my misting fan on Sunday and I was a hot, sad little panda.
I don't really have anything to sneak in so it doesn't matter to me but I feel like someone should mention that this forum is open to the public and is read by the folks that run the festival so you may want to think twice before sharing your best tricks. Just my advice...
I'm not too worried about the consequences of my flask or wine rack being discovered
I have a blanket that folds into a handy-dandy bag. It's my fest blanket, I've had it for 6 years now. I would be very upset and throwing a hissy if they tried to confiscate that.
Yeah, it makes no sense. I will say that they seem to always give you the option of returning your stuff to your tent. At least as far as fans and blankets and whatnot go. Probably not goodies, though. So you don't have to lose your stuff. You can also just exit the line and try a different security person or try the other entrance.

They took my girlfriend's blanket last year but they do allow you to pick it up on the way out. We searched through at least 50 blankets to find ours. It really pissed off my gf because I was sneaking in stuff and she can't lay on a blanket? Great job security.

You can't bring blankets in?
At certain points last year, no. I or anyone on here don't have an answer as to why that is.
I wear this the first day and rent a locker to keep some stuff in Centeroo for the weekend. The only day I have to worry about getting anything in is Thursday, and the bag checkers would have to caress my undercarriage in order to find anything. So either way it's a win for me.
that's really smart. The link isn't working for me, but the plan is good. The only thing I'd want to bring in though would be alcohol I guess. and glow sticks.... Though I've never had glow sticks taken away from me.
You think that was my best trick? You should see what I can accomplish with my anus.
I bring special industrial-strength Clorox wipes just to sterilize SupeЯfuЯЯyanimal's up-the-butt Vodka bottle before I sip from it. Trust me when I tell you that you don't want to have to explain to your loved ones why you came back from Bonnaroo with anal warts on your face.
Only time we were ever held up a bit was when my friend had a very good sucker. The security guy asked "What kind of sucker is this?". Friends response "Cherry." He put sucker back in the bag and said your good.

Sunday seemed to be the first day they were hassling our group over it, claiming that the evening artists had requested no additional film or photography
I bought a flask that looks like a sunscreen bottle. Sure, it's only 8 oz, but that's plenty of whiskey.
Supposedly, security at hangout fest were confinscating those and some that weren't. Apparently someone was hip to the sunscreen flask. Of all the festivals to get pissed about taking sunscreen away, one at a beach would be top of the list.
Last year, they definitely had a separate bag search lane. But it was woefully understaffed, and it took FOREVER to get in. I think by the end of the weekend, they just made it anyone in any line though? Could be wrong about that last part though.
BUKU has SERIOUS searches. They search bags completely sometimes emptying (they never look at small inside pockets) and they have metal detector wands.
at hangout they were literally taking every single item out of everyone's bag. they would unzip every single pocket, look into any container/small bag you brought in - they took my camera case out and even looked into every pocket in that tiny thing. they also did the most invasive pat downs I've ever seen - literally reaching into my shirt and feeling in between my chest. it was absolutely horrible. and the police completely harassed random people in line.
I've never seen more aggressive security. it was awful.
E: oh, and they didn't just throw out people's goodies. the cops immediately intervened at that point and, well, a lottt of arrests were made.
That's really fucked up. Definitely add Hangout to the list of fests I will never attend.
On the official bonnaroo website, it says no selfie sticks. Is this the same thing as my go pro stick?
Where are you seeing that? Under "What is Allowed in Centeroo", it says:
"Selfie sticks (Must expand no longer that 40" in length, must be made of light material: light metal, rubber, plastic. All selfie sticks are subject to Bonnaroo staff discretion and may or may not be allowed)"

OHHHHHHHHHHHH I READ IT WRONG!
Don't mind me. I'm from arkansas... we weren't taught literacy

The lack of a period at the end of this is icing on the cake.

It's not really that random. It's every 10th car during peak hours and every 15-20th the rest of the time.
Random in the sense that they're not cherry picking the people that look most likely to be carrying.
I don't believe this. I don't think I have ever seen a small car get the full police search. It's always large SUVS and Vans. AKA I'm totally getting the full search this year
