Since there's a best show thread, I'll be the negative one and create the bizzaro version of that thread.
Billy Joel - I love classic rock, but I could never get into Billy Joel other than "Piano Man." This was his chance to make me a fan. It was not successful. The best part of the show was when his roadie sang "Highway To Hell."
Pallbearer - I really like their album, but I wasn't feeling their show. The first two songs sounded exactly alike since the bass was so loud. I left after 15 mins to see Brownout instead. I made the right choice to leave.
Glass Animals - First of all, I was under "The Other Tent" so I could hear and see perfectly. Half the show, the singer was muffled by the instrumentals. Either his mic was too low, or the bass was too high. This wasn't a bad show, but it could have been much much better if they were on a bigger stage with a better mixed sound.
Rustie - Ehhhhh wasn't feeling it. His songs got annoying and so did the samples of a wolf howling and of the Zelda skull kid laughter. He used those two sound effects way too much.
Robert Plant - For shame Bonnaroo for having your notorious "Which Stage" sound problems during a legend's set. I could not hear him at all, esp. with that damn G-Eazy bass raping my ears from "This Tent." I left for Caribou which turned out to be one of my favorite sets of the weekend.
Just to let ya'll know, the other 35+ shows I went to were amazing.
Florence - she and the band were great, but the sound guys were having trouble the first 4 songs with popping speakers. Not a disappointing set but made the first few songs hard to listen to
Robert Plant - again, sound fault, not the talent on stage. G-eazy bass was ruining it. So I went to Caribou instead. AMAZING idea.
The very best - I wasn't feeling it live like on the album
Agreed on Glass Animals, the bass was wayyyyy too high. I had a good spot, and it was too heavy. It was even worse as I exited the crowd during the last song
The Growlers. This is the only show all weekend that I wasn't into. I wasn't expecting anything going in because I was only there to get a spot for Courtney Barnett.

Amazing shows across the board but for me, Iceage is officially the worst act I have ever seen at Bonnaroo. I watched them and literally wondered if the singer had any idea what was going on.

WE WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE G-EAZY NOISE TOO DURING ROBERT PLANT! We kept having to move closer to hear. It's like g-eazy was so loud, and robert plant was turned down. Sucked really bad.

Man, I loved that Pallbearer set, thought they sounded fantastic from where I was (1/4 of the way from the front, middle).
I loved the bass, so thick and crunchy like good doom should be.
Brownout would have been fun too. The vocalist of Pallbearer made a joke, "So, it appears there are two Sabbath cover bands playing at the same time right now."

1. Rustie - I wasn't feeling this either. I actually stood to the side and replied to work emails during this set like an asshole. But based on his studio work I thought it would be more of a refined housy/8 bit kind of set, instead he was your typical grimy cockney DJ. The mix was also terrible, almost no lower frequency bass, and the midbass didn't even have a lot of punch. Not so terrible that I didn't stand there most of the set, but still did not meet expectations.
That was it really, not bad! I had a blast or at least enjoyed every other set. I could throw King Gizz on the "disappointed" list but that wouldn't be fair since I just realized at the show the music doesn't do anything for me. I'm sure if I was into that style I would have loved it.
I thought Pallbearer was great, I loved the big bass sound, as Rothric said it was an appropriate sound mix for that genre.

Billy Joel - Once you've been outperformed by your roadie perhaps retirement should be pondered.
Mumford & Sons - The other times i saw them were way better than this. The new songs were dull, a lot of the old songs seemed to fall flat, and the spaces between song seemed long and empty.
Everything else i saw was good.
Oh yeah, and the heavy "Bro Crowd" caused us to flee Rudimental. This of course wasn't the bands fault.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought his attitude was just part of their stlye. I actually enjoyed the set and his "I don't give a fuck" style. He reminded me of some sort Liam Gallagher/Julian Casablancas/ Jim Morrison mold. I don't know, I could be wrong. Regardless, I enjoyed it.
Edit: Also, I believe the bassist was having issues with one of his pedals. The singer kept going over to him to see what was going on. They even cut a song short because of it. Which may explain why you saw some confusion on the singer's face. But, again I could be wrong.

Glass Animals was really the only show that gave me issues, I had a great time at everything else I saw. I felt half-dead during The Districts so I was like, mentally in and out of the show, but that's my own damn fault haha.

Rustie really shocked me. Did not expect a typical turn-up set with him constantly asking the crowd to put their hands up. The bass also drowned out everything.
I was kind of disappointed by the 35-45 minutes of the Shakes that we saw. The slower songs don't do it for me and that's all they played during the time we were there. I hear the other parts of the set were stellar though.
Deadmau5 was a disappointment to me. I was fairly close but either I was just so wasted from the heat or he got too mellow in the middle so I bailed and took a shower and went to bed.

Superjam. This thing used to be sheer magic, but this set just felt like a complete contrivance. There was no chemistry between the players, no fluidity from song to song, waaaay too much filler banter, and just a lazy concept for a show altogether.

I hate that people didn't enjoy deadmau5. True it was way more stand and stare rather then a dance party, but I was thrilled with it, both from the pit and the hill.

I had a feeling that I was the only one there not feeling it. The folks surrounding me seemed really into it. Like I said, I went into their show loving their studio stuff. I don't know why it didn't do it for me live (shrug).

I have to second Iceage. It sounded like garbage for the few songs I watched. Ended up going to the Silent Disco for 30 minutes until it was time for Growlers>Courtney Barnett.
Deadmau5. I came in about halfway through from Run the Jewels and I guess I was in the slow section. But between the 10 minute "World the Children built" song, then 20 minutes of Strobe (which was pretty good) then the song where he hits play and chills and drinks a beer, it was too boring for me. Wish I'd headed to FlyLo instead.
What I saw of the Superjam after D'Angelo was ehhhh. They definitely must've been scrambling to fill those spaces.
I wanted to see Spoon but it was too damn hot. I wasn't trying to repeat the Arctic Monkeys show from last year. Really a shame but I know I'll have another chance.
Bassnectar. I've given him two chances now and I believe that will be the last one. The bass is just too obnoxious to even tell songs apart half the time and just doesn't seem fluid at all.
I think Rustie started off as a disappointment but then picked it up about midway.
Also, not food but Praters BBQ. Wasn't as good this year. I don't remember their sandwiches being pre made last year but maybe they were. This might've been my biggest let down.
everything I saw was awesome. except tove lo. I was only in the thick of the crowd to get a good spot for jungle, but my god. I kept checking my phone and thinking to myself "is this show over yet?" she was boring and the crowd was annoying as hell. fortunately they all poured out as soon as her one big song played and I got my front spot at jungle, so it was all worth it.
Deadmau5 - When you have something to compare it to (i.e. Jaime XX, Caribou) it just really falls flat. Presequenced sets take the creativity out of it and when you see someone perform live, masterfully, like Caribou, it entirely negates Mau5's "we all press play" argument.

Caribou and Jamie xx really did make deadmau5 look worse comparatively, but I still enjoyed the deadmau5 set. He really needs to get rid of the Katy Perry parody section, though.

I was pleased with every set I attended. I got kind of bored at Hiss Golden Messenger but that lead me to go check out the Punch Brothers at The Grind in the campgrounds. I'm sure if I had stayed around I would have enjoyed HGM.
I was pleased with every set I attended as well. I got a little bored at Billy Joel since his music is just not my thing. But he really is a good musician, so I ended up enjoying it okay, especially after I moved left and front to get away from the crowd a little and hear better.

Jamie XX: Maybe a should have known, but I expected him to play Jamie XX songs, not just do a DJ set of the songs he sampled and a bunch of random music. It wasn't bad just not what I expected and ultimately wished I would have seen Sturgill
Rustie: This was straight up trash
Billy Joel: Maybe I was too tired, but I didn't enjoy this as much as I expected. Maybe playing Vienna and New York State of Mind which are my favorite songs by him would have helped. Disappointed by the shortened set too.
Superjam: Only caught the last 30 mins or so, but the only tune I really enjoyed was the All Night Long cover. I've never been a fan of hip hop pre-1990's though, so no surprise. My expectations were probably too high for this, especially after coming from D'Angelo
Freddie Gibbs: Talked too much, Madlib was disappointing.
Tears For Fears: got there at the end of Everybody Wants to Rule The World, the sound was too quiet, I thought the next few songs were boring so I left.
Raury: watched them sound check for 30 mins, first song came on and all I could hear was bass, left immediately.

Dej Loaf. Wish I had that 45 minutes back. Maybe I'm getting too old to relate, but it seemed like a big cluster to me.
I am sad to say, Dej Loaf was a little off to me. The DJ that came out just went on forever and I was so short I couldn't tell if/when she came out. Sound wasn't that great and I couldn't really hear her. I'm glad I went though -- she's still a badass chick!

dude for real. we were sitting in the grass there just cuz it was somewhere to sit. half hour later we got on and literally got up and left cuz it was so awful
