The sound bleeds are fairly new. From 06-10 there wasn't this big of a problem - it's really all due to the Kalliope IMO.
The which stage sound power is just plain weaksauce, nothing to do with Kalliope
It's not the power. Which sounds louder from further away. There are just weird spots where the sound is really bad. You either have to be up by the soundboard or way passed the road for it to be loud. I remember leaving Flaming Lips in 07 because of the crowd/sound and it was louder at our tent.

the which seems to have the best sound during the day, when it is hot as balls and no one wants to watch a show there.
one of my most disappointing roo shows ever was buffalo springfield because I literally couldn't hear anything they were playing.
Speaking of sound issues, I heard multiple complaints throughout the weekend about sound at the rebranded Who Stage being off. Anyone else feel like this? I only caught one show there, and the sound/bass was definitely overwhelming compared to what I remember from the Sonic the last few years.

Rubblebucket was 15 mins late due to sound issues. They were able to get half the mics working finally and just played. Her bari-sax was never miced the whole night though
The worker on stage was very visibly upset with the guy at the sound booth. At one point he got the mic and said something to the effect of, "There, are you happy? Now will you let me try and run the rest of the fucking stage?" *mic drop
Only other show I saw there was All Them Witches, and they sounded fine.

Once again, talkin' outcher bum. And if not, kindly explain why nobody in the back 2/3rds of the Which field could hear a bloody note during Buffalo Springfield '11.

I tried to go see Raury there but left because the sound was so bad

Yeah the guy that was working on the stage that night was losing his shit before Rubblebucket. He seemed more calm later in the weekend.
Raury started super late because of sound issues, too. The Who Stage just was not up to the challenge.

Sheeeitt, I was in the first third of the crowd and I couldn't hear much
So is Bonnaroo ever going to fix these issues or are they just going to leave a big middle finger up cause they know people will keep coming anyway. I for one thought the sound on all the stages and tents was significantly lower than other years. I could always hear neighbors talking n shit. It's not like this at other festivals I've been to and yes they have multiple stages.

Truth. This year I could hear atmosphere in the Porto potties by my campsite. Same thing with cage last year.

He isn't talking out his bum. That show was just fucked.

Or put whoever was running the Sonic Stage back in charge.
Never made it to Cafe Where before it disappeared -- will always regret that a bit. I hear it felt like a tiny county fair stage.
As for Sonic, I seem to recall a woman was in charge of the stage -- I'm guessing doing programming/management, rather than sound. I don't know if she's still a part of the Who Stage crew. I distinctly recall her being thrilled at Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros closing out the stage in 2013 when they paraded over to Sonic after their Which set. She had mentioned then that she'd been organizing the Sonic since its inception. I never had issues at Sonic prior to this year, so I fully second bringing her back if she's left!

Yeah my buddy who had always done a flawless job at Cafe Where was brought to Who to do the stuff on stage. He told me he was disappointed in The Who Stage and the way they set things up. Also said they purposely put smaller acts of Miller Lite to help with overflow problems they had the previous year.
For those of you who never made it to Cafe Where, it was an awesome set up. Small, intimate setting where the band would mingle with the crowd afterwards and sell some merch or give away free singles. Saw J.Roddy Walston & The Business, Kyng, Ben Sollee, Parlour Tricks (then called Lilly & The Parlour Tricks), Tiny Victories, and many other amazing acts there. Some of them even went on to play bigger stages at Roo.

Seeing Tiny Victories with you will always be one of my favorite roo memories!
Childish Gambino. He was killing the first half of his set with all the great songs off Because the Internet...and then he took us to Kauai at which point I decided to go find my friends for Mumford Also AWOLNATION was the worst concert I've ever been to. I was expecting tasteful electronic rock hybrid not fucking punk screamo

I can kinda see where your thought process and expectations failed you.
Freddie Gibbs: Talked too much, Madlib was disappointing.
Raury: watched them sound check for 30 mins, first song came on and all I could hear was bass, left immediately.
I loved Gibbs set. It was just fun. I'd say about 40 minutes of it was just him talking, but it was just a blast. It was as if everyone in the audience was his best friend and out celebrating his birthday with him. I had never been to a show like that, and I doubt I ever will.
I will say, Madlib's beats were weak and I was dissapointed. but he was having just as good as a time as Freddie, so I ended up not minding it.
I will stand up for Raury. I waited to. As he explained he just wanted everything to sound right. I'd rather wait 30 minutes and get a good sounding show then listen to an hour of a medicore sounding show. You honestly missed out. He put on one hell of a show.
I'm gonna get buried for this, but my most anticipated show of both Firefly & Bonaroo was my most disappointing.
Kendrick Lamar just dissapointed me. I stood and waited through his set for half an hour. Heard nothing but GKMC, had to hear MAAD City 3 different times. I LOVED GKMC when it came out, but it's not what I wanted to hear Kendrick perform. He really didn't even seem to enjoy himself in my opinion.
I wanted to hear Section .80 and TPAB material and I didn't get it. Ironically, I left just as he started Sing About Me. By the time I was out, i had started. my friends who stayed said he started playing TPAB after that.
I went over to hear RTJ and loved that show, then caught Fly Lo

I just didn't enjoy 40 mins of him yelling Fuck The Police, saying it was his birthday, and telling girls to show him their tits and "squat on this dick".

Raury was magical. But on the first song they sounded like a mediocre high school band. I decided to stick with it and it got better. They never really sounded perfect, but the energy he gave off, the amazing things he had to say, and the water bottle fights more than made up for it.
