Question for the Gov Ball veterans: Are there any gluten-free alcohol options (i.e., hard cider) inside the festival?
Nope!I also have celiac, and every year I write to them asking to just have one friggin vendor that supplies cider, and they never do. They do have wine, though. Someone told me there are hard liquor options but I've never seen them, it must be VIP only. So I will continue doing what I always do and hide some nips in my shoes.
That's frustrating (I have celiac too). I know that Gov Ball partners with Miller Lite, but considering how popular hard cider has become, you think it would be a no-brainer. Maybe things will change this year?

They at least had the Tito's trailer back by the Cornhole and such last year

There is a Bacardi lounge that sells liquor and is accessible to GA peeps. Its in the back right hand side between the Gov Ball stage and the Bacardi House stage (between the main stage and the tent).
You two just made my day! I didnt see either of these in 2013 or 2014, didnt go last year.
I have governors Ball experience but it was during the rainstorm of 2013
I have Firefly experience but there are unopposed headliners
If I want solid position for the strokes or the killers Solid meaning being able to be part of any moshing toward the front Center top 25 people back or so, do I have to go to the act before and stay at the main stage for the entire hour 15 break or is it possible to catch some of say Bloc party leave early and get back?

Seeing as this is The Strokes hometown, I think I would plan a lot of time to get to the front [I'll be catching Bloc Party though : )]
The Killers I dont think you need to go too crazy. In 2013 I came to the main stage 30 minutes before GNR's set and was like 4th row. Same with Phoenix in 2014.
As for Kanye....don't even bother lol. His crowd was such a cluster fuck in 2013, I'd gotta imagine people are camping out all day.

In 2014 we waited for The Strokes from when the doors opened and we still weren't front row, but we were side/middle rail. Trust me when I say teenagers with drawings of The Strokes as dolphins (true story from 2014) will be out in full force. Every festival I've seen The Strokes at (Lolla, Roo, Gov Ball, Primavera) have always had a ton of people camping out for them. In fact, I didn't see anyone camping for any set at Primavera other than The Strokes.

tee hee....
and yup that's what I plan to do. I also want to see everyone on that stage before him too. Any ideas on how early I should camp out at the gates before they open? I'm going to try and make the rail.

Damn I'm watching youtube videos of M83 at Coachella this year....their stage production is pretty mesmerizing. Despite being more familiar with The Killers' catalog I think I might choose M83.

Do people not realize it's JUST The Stokes. I like them and all but, damn, can't imagine wasting a whole day to see a bunch of alcoholic dads go through the motions. On a positive note, having a tough time deciding between Miike Snow and Purity Ring. Think it's going to MS though.

You'll get on the rail if you head to main stage during the first show and stay there, not sure how much you'd need to rush the stage to get towards the center of it though.

The one consideration is soundbleed/sound issues at the Honda Stage for M83 and Death Cab. You'd have to hope that GovBall is taking measures to avoid another Lana scenario.

I think they said they were working on it this year in the AMA

Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief

What was the Lana scenario?
Extremely low volume topped off by soundbleed from The Black Keys. Even Lana posted on Instagram afterwards saying that she couldn't hear anything. Half the audience left after 15 minutes. I love GovBall but it was an amateur night on their part.

After going to Primavera and seeing how no one camped there for any other act, I have a heard time understanding why anyone would want to camp out at one stage. Being able to walk up to every set five minutes before they go on was perfect.
Plus old alcoholic dudes could describe a lot of major festival headliners.

Has anyone ever seen Big Grams live? I'm a bigger Of Monsters & Men fan, but I'm starting to think this summer festival circuit will be the last time BG tours.

Haven't seen Big Grams but I've seen Outkast and that was good. I thought the EP was meh and only really loved the song with RTJ. I saw OMAM at Coachella and was extremely surprised by how much I actually enjoyed their show (I never really thought very highly of their music before). You'll enjoy both shows and this will likely be the last year you can see Big Grams. If you haven't seen Outkast then see Big Grams (or if you loved the EP then absolutely see them) but I think OMAM is a safe choice too

When I saw Big Grams at Okeechobee I thought it was pretty weak. It didn't look like real chemistry between the two more like it was forced just to cash in. The crowd didn't get into it other then Ms Jackson. They said a bunch of cheesy things like "who's getting high with us" "close your eyes and trip out" etc. Just to try to get crowd excitement. Of Monsters & Men on the other hand surpassed all expectations when I didn't really like them going in but now I'm a fan.

I was a much bigger fan of Phantogram. I just can't get into the "Big Grams" stuff, and haven't heard good stuff about their live performances together.

Saw them back in December. It's okay, not too great, set was very short. The best part was when they did mashups of Phantogram and Big Boi/Outkast material. Don't Move/The Way You Move was great. I'd check them out.

Official schedule is now available on the website. Looks like they swapped Joey Bada$$ and Courtney Barnett. Good news for those of you concerned about the Chvrches/Courtney Barnett conflict.

Phew. Though now my buddy is considering seeing Galantis. He just doesn't know how awesome Ms. Barnett is.
What food do I need to check out? Not from NY so I don't know any of those places. Definitely getting one of those shakes they tweeted on the way out (or when The Strokes end 20 minutes early and I get it on my way to siting in the back for Robyn)
