Oops Blue Sky Miners!^^^ Just got home from seeing David Rawlings Machine----absolute perfection! Front row in a beautiful venue in the Cleveland Flats. If you ever are in Cleveland, Music Box Supper Club is THE place to see a show. It was one of those concerts where you keep closing your eyes to absorb all the sound. Every member was incredible! Willie Watson, Brittany Haas, Paul Kowert from the Punch Bros; I could see a David Rawlings Machine Willie Watson and The Punch Bros collaboration at Newport next summer!Heavenly Gillian too.

Thanks for the review. You pushed me off the fence to go see them next week...

The Calvin or somewhere else? I actually am going to that show solo.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I would go see this young man next week but i'll be out of town
That is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. It's bittersweet that it's Homecoming next weekend and I'll have to work that night, so I can't go. I already bought 4 tickets this week and am contemplating a 5th already, so 6 tickets might have been a bit much.
I said this two posts ago to cgs, but... any chance you're going to Dave Rawlings on Monday? I'll be there solo.

I think you said it to me, but no, not going to the Calvin. I'm a few days later

So I feel like I've been a little out of the folk loop since Newport. I've listened to the more notable albums (Nathaniel Rateliff, Dave Rawlings), but what new artists have popped up in the months since then? Give me your recommendations/discoveries!

I'm afraid that either I have done the same or that it's been a slower fall for folk.
Some folk albums to check out though:
Ryan Adams - "1989" the Oh Hellos - "Dear Wormwood" Kurt Vile - "b'lieve I'm goin down" Little May - "For the Company" (very Sharon Van Etten like)
I also like some of Jon Foreman's stuff with Sara Watkins. Try the tunes "June & Johnny" and "Before Our Time". But I've found his new stuff to be fairly hit or miss.
Kaleo also has a pretty good new song "Way Down We Go." Definitely listen to if you like Hozier/James Bay.
Miner released a new song "Better Instincts." Sounds a little Ivan and Alyosha like. Speaking of Ivan and Aluosha, they have a newer album out, but it sounds a little less folky and a little more the way Delta Spirit went.
Two more albums that I forgot about. Both came out in the summer (The Hunts in June, the National Parks in August), but since neither band played Newport, they may be new to discover.
The Hunts - "Those Younger Days" The National Parks - "Until I Live"
Both bands have a little more pop flare to them, reminiscent of either Of Monsters and Men or The Lumineers. The Hunts put on a damn good show at Landmark Music Fest.
That June date by itself at Saratoga is interesting though. Might be precursor for headlining another fest or two, such as Firefly and or the Coachella NYC fest.
