I'm totally okay with Ray headlining. His new album is fucking great, I want him to have as much time as possible to play those especially since it's with the Jacket Boys
I love Ray's new album, it's very atmospheric and you can hear the Pink Floyd influence for sure.

Very Floyd-y more so than anything MMJ has done. I've got tickets to see them in the fall and I'm hoping desperately they play the album front to back for the tour. It would do well with that treatment

I'm curious to see what Ray's set will be like at Newport. Will he go heavy on the hits, or will he play a majority of his new album? Could be a mixture of both, but I'm not sure. I'm totally cool with either!

I would bet majority new album but it depends how long his set is. From a Rolling Stone interview:
"I think what we're going to do is I may go out and open the show by myself and play an acoustic set, just by myself. And then we're going to play the new record, start to finish. And then we'll probably come back out and play some other stuff after that"
I could see him doing an abbreviated version of that for festivals. Maybe a couple solo songs then most of the album
I don't put any stock in that 4 pm FOTC. I don't think that was a leak, I think it was just a nonsensical time that was a placeholder or something. If they are playing at 4 pm, not only are they not headlining, they aren't pre-headlining on either quad or main stage.

They are playing Boston the very next day. Who knows, there may be some clause where they are not allowed to headline so close to another show.

Yeah that's true- who knows? And I hope I didn't come off as aggressive- I love debating this stuff!

Tallest Man On Earth played at 4 last year before MMJ/Waters. So I guess if they were repeating that exact setup with MMJ headlining, it'd work out right. Pulling that with them again in the same time slot on the same day would be a kind of lazy move but I won't complain about any chance to see My Morning Jacket

Yeah lazy indeed. Hoping not, and that its someone new

When I saw him on tour for his last album (the one produced by Dan Auerbach) they basically played the full album and then dipped into his other tunes for later and encores. I do think he would sometimes mix up the track order or slip in one older song before going back to the new album ones. I'd like for him to do the same kind of thing when he plays this tour. I'm seeing him next month at the Capitol in Port Chester and can't wait for that show.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Serious question, not trying to be a dick, just curious: what do you think of Morning Jacket of Louisville, Kentucky?
