Hey guys, anyone listened to the new Woods yet? I'm nervous to listen to it cause I've seen them so I can live a conflict that blocks them, but if the album is good enough, it'll make the decision way harder. As a side note, Listened to Black Mountain's new album and it's easily my favorite so far this month. I'm hoping the play fairly late and play a full version of the final song on the album
Not to make your decision harder but the new Woods is the best thing they've ever done, imo. They tour constantly though, so there's that.
I saw Sunn 0))) this past weekend and was blown away. Literally. It may be the loudest thing I've ever heard.
God damnit GL!!!! Haha. No, it's cool, if it's really that good and they play a lot of it on this tour, I'll have to at least check out part of the show. Last time I looked at the daily lineup, I remember seeing that they were close to someone I like a tiny bit more and thinking that they will conflict and hating the idea of making a decision.
It's good to hear about Sunn 0))) and not surprising about how loud it was. Swans is the loudest concert I've ever experienced (only show that I've ever had to give up rail for to get further away from the speakers) I am pretty sure that Saturday will be the hardest latenight decisions for me. If AnCo and Courtney conflict, I will cry
Considering the fact that I bought my day pass for pretty much 3 acts, these being 2 of them, I'd be real upset too. I'm trying not to think about the odds of this happening, but I'm real real nervous.

I'm almost certain Courtney will conflict with whoever closes the main stage. So you just gotta pray that they don't give Brian Wilson the 13th Floor Elevators treatment. See, I'm conflicted cause I'd love for AnCo to get a longer set BUT that would require the conflict with Courtney and I know I'll see AnCo when they come through town but I still don't think I can get myself to skip and they're one of my friend's (who is going with me) favorite band

They tour tons. If you missed them, I'd bet you'd have another shot at seeing them. New record slays though. I posted the stream link in Now Playing if you haven't heard it.
Sunn shook the theatre. No joke. My seat was rattling, chandeliers were swaying, ears were bleeding. You could feel it in your chest just how much sheer power they had. Everyone really should check out just a bit of it if they can. Even if you don't enjoy them, the spectacle of everything is amazing.

The schedule must be released today, right? Otherwise it will be a mid or late week release. It's a slow day here at work and I need something to focus on to pass the time.

This is what I was thinking when I read "early next week" I sure hope so because I found myself just staring at the daily lineup many times yesterday when I was supposed to be working, haha
Last year, 30 minute set breaks were the standard. So you can subtract 30 mins from the start time of the next band to get set times.
Definitely some tough conflicts, but that's unavoidable with a lineup this stacked.
Worst for me so far is Saturday night, Woods and Black Mountain are during Brain Wilson. That's fucking rough for me. Also bummed Uncle Acid is on the same time as Nico and FlyLo. But I think I'll probably shamble over to catch 15 minutes of them between set breaks.
I'll likely be missing Sunn 0))) and Sleep, but I thought that was going to be the case going in. Who knows, I might just bounce back and forth and just see what I'm feeling at the moment. No bad choices.
I'm also pretty pumped about Nicolas Jaar into Flying Lotus. That's going to be a fun night. Courtney Barnett into The Black Angels into Brian Wilson into a partial Black Mountain set into Animal Collective is also pretty ideal for me! I can't wait to get down there.
Keep in mind, bouncing between sets at this fest is EXTREMELY easy. You can hit all 3 stages in less then 5 minutes, and you're almost always in earshot of a stage. So even as you're walking to the next set, you're still listening to music most of the time!
And with the long set times of Levitation, splitting sets still means you often get 30+ minutes for each band.
I'm very surprised that Flying Lotus and Caribou both ended up in the tent, thought they'd be on the main stage.
Edit: And check out those Thursday parties! Chelsea Wolfe and Pinkish Black at Mohawk
Double Edit: Holy shit, Oneohtrix Point Never is before Nico and FlyLo in the tent. That 4 hour block is going to melt minds with reckless abandon.

First Draft
FRI Klaus Johann Grobe > Imarhan > Twin Peaks > La Luz > Shabazz Palaces > Brian Jonestown Massacre > Oneothrix Point Never > Dungen > Nico Jaar > Uncle Acid > Flying Lotus
SAT Ultimate Painting > Bayonne > Israel Nash > Nots > Parquet Courts > Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith > Courtney Barnett > Thurston Moore > Black Angels > Boris > Woods or good spot for > Brian Wilson > Black Mountain > Sleep
SUN Jjuujjuu > Promised Land Sound > Blondi's Salvation > Magic Wands > King Gizzard > Quaraishi > Chicano Batman > Allah Las > Royal Trux > Ty Segall/Lee "Scratch" Perry > Super Furry Animals > Ween/Melody's Echoes Chamber > Caribou
Anyone else notice Boris has 2 hours and 30 mins before Sunn O))) and Sunn O))) only has 50 mins before Sleep? Hmmm... pretty sure there is going to be a Boris/Sunn O))) collaboration..

No no, don't do this to yourself. That gap is there because they are treating similar to last year with 13th Floor Elevators where they were the only act playing at that time. So, the small stage will still have music, they are decreasing the amount of conflict during Brian Wilson because he is billed #1

Oh shit, you had my full attention!
However, I think the more likely scenario is that it's just a typo. I think Sunn O))) is supposed to start at 9:55, not 10:55. Which makes sense, because then that means Boris has exactly 60 minutes for their set, and Sunn O))) then gets 80 minutes for their set.
But man, the possibility is their for Boris and Sunn O))) to just do one long, massive set. They don't have to be off the stage for Sleep until 11:15, it would be close to a 3 hour slab of heavy.

More likely a typo. 9:55 sounds appropriate for the Sunn O))) time slot

Damn that schedule is gorgeous. So bummed that I probably won't be able to make it this year. Money, prior obligations, and the 14 hour drive may just be too much to overcome. I'm not ruling out a last minute plane ticket completely, but it seems unlikely that I'll be there this year.
The good thing is that there is always next year, and it seems like this festival will be this stacked every year. Make sure to roast some fat spliffs at Sleep for me you lucky bastards.
What time do the main stage and tent usually end on Friday and Saturday
Last year around 1:45. I think Euphoria ends at 1 at the latest this year, so I'd expect a similar scenario for Levitation.
Which sucks, an extra hour til 2 would be nice. Those damn neighbors
Maybe the neighbors will let it slide since it won't be Bassnectar. Then again, judging by the Big Ears gang reviews, Sunn O))) may knock their pictures off of the wall.

Bummer, thought you were still in for this year
Sad that Sleep and Animal Collective are almost in direct conflict. I don't see myself being able to tear myself away from Animal Collective, but who knows. Plans seem to go out the window at times

It really helps that I've already seen Ty this year, and Woods and King Gizz are swinging through my area the week after Levitation. And I've also seen a bunch of the big names multiple times (FlyLo, AnCo, Caribou, Ween). The Beach Boys as well, although that Pet Sounds set will be different. That set, Sleep and Slowdive are my biggest casualties. I'm really hoping that Sleep/Windhand tour announces some Southern dates later in the year.
About to pull trigger on Saturday ticks. So much great stuff to see and the schedule definitely works for me. Already experienced ACL and FFF, levitation seems overdue.
