I'm just glad my 3 acts I wanted to see don't conflict at all. Really my only debate is if I go see Woods or do I stay and get a good spot for Brian Wilson... Decisions that will be left for that time and place. Overall, couldn't be happier with the way this played out.

I was debating this with myself last night, as I am not a big fan of the Beach Boys. I decided I'm going to skip Wilson (and the Black Angels) all together and see Heron Oblivion -> Woods -> Black Mountain. I just looked at Black Mountain's sets and it looks nothing short of amazing, so I'm gonna camp to be as close as possible for them and then watch whatever is left of AnCo.

I'd like to get the Sunn O))) experience, but I just don't think I can skip Wilson for it. I hope it matches the theatre performance footage I've seen from him. Not sure how the set times will be staggered, but it's possible Sunn O))) sound bleeds into Brian, unless the schedule makers purposefully avoid that by putting their set in the space while Wilson's stage is set up and soundchecked? Also, I've never been able to get into Animal Collective as a group, so I have no problem with skipping them. I may end up catching part of them if Sleep isn't hitting me right.

Oh, and Black Mountain was one of my favorite sets at the lone Psych Fest I was able to attend. They were on the big stage that night. It should be extra cool seeing them at the amphitheatre.
anyone know if we can return to the parking lot once entered into the fest site?
Day parking, not sure. But definitely yes on camping. You're camped a few hundred yards away from the parking lot, so going back and forth to your car isn't an issue.
The more and more I look at this schedule, the more likely it seems I might be missing Brian Wilson. Didn't think I'd be saying that a few months ago, but that schedule is just brutal in that spot for me.

Maybe leave AnCo a little early to catch more of Sleep, who knows.
I'm just thinking I won't be in the right headspace for Brian Wilson then. Which kinda bums be out, because I'd love to see that show.
I'm seeing Brian Wilson regardless. He's the reason I bought my day pass. But I kinda hate you for making me curious enough to listen to Black Mountain, because I like this and wish I could check out their set. However, BDubs is paramount for me, soooooo yea.
I do see how with your run you think you'll be in the wrong headspace for Beach Boys tunes though. I say leave it to an in the moment decision. Besides, Brian Wilson is all about those Good Vibe(ration)s, and there is never a bad headspace for that.

Even if you do the full Brian Wilson and Animal Collective sets, you can still catch 30 minutes of Black Mountain in between set changes. Really excited for Black Mountain, a band I've always wanted to see.
I'll probably swing by Brian Wilson for a song or two on my way to Sunn O))). And I might love it so much, I don't really make it to Sunn O)))
I really hope they've accounted for Sunn O))) playing the same time as Brian Wilson, that has sound bleed disaster written all over it. I don't ever recall sound bleed issues in the past at the fest, but it sounds like Sunn O))) could do it, especially with a quieter performance like Brian Wilson.

I could be wrong, but I don't anticipate Wilson having a quiet set. Not sure what he's touring with for festival sets, but a 10 piece band isn't going to be quiet. I see what you're saying, but if sound bleed hasn't been an issue before then I'd doubt it's going to be too much now. Even with this Sun O))) character's insane sound system... Unless you're at the back of Wilson, then I could see that...

Ya, thankfully the layout is friendly with 3 stages. The main stage and tent basically face away from each other as much as possible. And the river stage drops 20' down the bank so you have all that earth there to block for it.
headliner conflict with what is going on in the tent is brutal.
Conflicts are everywhere for me from 6 pm til the end and earlier even on Saturday. Friday, I would have liked to have caught The Arcs, but I'm not skipping Jaar. Then I want to see everything closing that night. The main inconveniences for me on Saturday are Parquet Courts and Nots, and Courtney vs Lee Ranaldo, Brian Wilson/Woods/Sunn O))). There are others, but those are the most bothersome. Sunday has the three way killer of Ty Segall/Lee "Scratch" Perry/ Super Furry Animals, followed by Ween/ Melody's Echo Chamber/Caribou. It's going to be great regardless of which I choose and I'm not light on acts I'm excited to see early in the day. So, all is well. Hope to see you around.
Not gonna make it this year, unfortunately. If I was, I'd be pretty bummed about this schedule though. Looking like the only fests I'm gonna do this year are in nola.

Alright. I thought I saw somewhere you were thinking about going to Levitation because it was the only lineup this year you were really into. Got any Jazzfest plans for the first Friday and Saturday?

The end of Sunday is a tough one for me for the same reasons. Ty and SFA are two of the main reasons I wanted to go to Levitation so it hurts that I'm gonna have to choose. But SFA is just so rare that I think I'm gonna have to go to the tent a lil early to try and get close for SFA. I'm just glad I've seen Caribou twice. After SFA, I'm gonna watch all of Melody's Echo Chamber and then go to Ween and see if I dig it and head to Caribou if not.
Friday though... It's gonna kill me having to choose between FlyLo and Slowdive. I was praying it'd go BJTM -> FlyLo -> Slowdive but I don't blame them for putting Nico Jaar -> FlyLo because it's a perfect combo. But, I just saw FlyLo LN at Roo last year and there is basically no chance of him topping that show for me so I'm gonna go to Nico and then try to get a good spot for Slowdive.
But, everyday from 4-close is absolutely brutal for me. It's ok though because no matter what choice you make, you'll have an amazing time

Yeah, I wanted to go, but going solo is way too expensive. Plus it's like the week before plant shutdown and work is cockblocking hard. Probably not going to bother with much Jazzfest this year. Only thing I have bought a ticket for is Megalomaniacs Ball at Howlin' Wolf wednesday night...no way I'm missing that shit.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
Just went to Euphoria this weekend and it was a nightmare trying to get into camping. Lots of confusion, lines, waiting fornwho knows what. $30 to park for the weekend. $20/day. The fest was a constant dustbowl.
Do yall have a map yet? I know two different people produce this fest but I hope Levitation runs the ins and outs better than Euphoria. Once inside Carson Creek, the fest was great aside from the dust.

Man, Arcs rocked it out on the Coachella stream. It's going to be tough skipping them for Nico Jaar. I wouldn't even consider missing Nico had I not seen him recently. It was so good, I gotta go back for more though.
Check out the Flying Lotus poster. Limited number on foil stock, as below:
Not just any foil stock... That's dat gobstopper foil stock fist used by Zoltron for Primus Wonka Halloween. The artist is Michael Fuchs who is local to Austin. He did the print for Lightning Bolt last year.
My favorite prints that I have seen for the fest so far is Jim Mazza's print for Ween and Alan Forbes' print for King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
That's a problem I have with this fest. I spent over $400 on prints last year. I am an addict.
$400?!?! Well shit... I'm not spending that sorta bank on posters, thats for sure. But I'll DEFINITELY be making a stop by the merch tent early in the day. Guess its a good thing I'm going Friday now too.
Oh yea, I'll be there Friday now too guys!
Tentative schedule:
Fri: Twin Peaks > Shabazz Palaces > Brian Jonestown Massacre > Nicolas Jarr > Flying Lotus
Sat: Parquet Courts > Courtney Barnett > The Black Angels > Brian Wilson > Animal Collective

Ill be there Saturday, just add Bayonne to open and we have matching setlists.
For those of you haven't been, and if it is anything like the Euphoria set up, itll take less than 60 seconds to get to either stages so you can def split time.
