Unless I'm an idiot & they're the same thing. (Like 99% sure they're not tho?)
Its at Vulcan and they are different. Vulcan is in the middle of the dirty 6th, Empire is across from the whatever the old R7 is called now. (Red river and 7th) Is that Baracuda? 12-2am. Free all ages.
No I'm locked up in a drug study for a month. I've just been following along and feel awful for you guys. Have fun!
I've been seeing your trail and river Instagrams from the area.
I'm currently searching the streets for extra tickets. At least it's not raining or anything out here.
Yeah I absolutely loved the two months I spent in Austin. Such a beautiful city. I went to the greenbelt a solid four or five times a week. Moved out on Wednesday and now I'm having diabetes drugs tested on me for a month haha.
The Mohawk is a fucking cool venue. Seeing The Arcs there would be insane. Very jealous of you dude. I was looking at the FB page and it seems lots of people flew over from Europe and Australia. This must be devastating for them.

An all ages show from 12-2? Sheeeeit. When shows are all ages here that means they're done by 1130 so the 16 year olds can beat curfew.
Totally sucks about the fest. Surprised they didn't give Levitation ticket holders a password to buy tix for these shows early/priority. I'd be mad if I had to fly in for this and then missed out on the club shows too.
Anyone make it to the Slowdive show? There were a ton of people hanging outside trying to get a glimpse of the stage by standing on cars or construction equipment surrounding the perimeter of the venue. Was truly a scene to behold
Got to catch the tail end of BJM and all of Slowdive's set. Couldn't actually see the band performing other than the top of Neil's head from where I was standing, but they sounded spot on. Such an awesome band
I'm really glad they cancelled Levitation for our safety, I'm fucking soaked right now.
In my sweat that is. You know how much rain we got?
ZERO. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Seriously, fuck you whichever Travis County official made this call. I still don't believe the decision was ever made for our safety. Someone saw an opportunity and ran with it.
Ugh, /rant.
Tonight was fucking awesome, given the circumstances. I ended up seeing:
Klaus Johan Grobe > Boogarins > Dungen > Uncle Acid
All 4 sets were fantastic in their own way, I'd have a hard time ranking which was the best. I totally dug Klaus, appreciate that rec.
It was hot and humid, I feel like I sweated half a gallon.
Klaus was groovy krautrock. Boogarins shredded our minds. Dungen took us on a space odyssey. And finally Uncle Acid laid waste to us with their scuzzed out/serial killer slab of fuzz.
It was a good night, but I can't help but feel the sting of missing Flying Lotus and still never getting to witness Nicolas Jaar. Ready for Animal Collective tomorrow.
Went to The Mohawk for The Arcs, Chicano Batman, some band Nite, but got there late and missed La Luz unfortunately. May go to San Marcos and see them tomorrow. The Arcs were fucking great!! It was cool seeing them do their full set, which would've been like 4 songs shorter and w/o an encore at Levitation. Also, bands with two drummers always are awesome. Really dug how they played a few songs like Lake Superior a little differently. They also did a badass cover of "Smiling Faces Sometimes". Chicano Batman was cool too. Saw them open for Jack White last year but it was cooler seeing them at a much smaller venue than the Music Hall. That band Nite was eh, i left after 1 song.
When I awoke a few minutes ago, my buddy showed me video of an intense storm that moved through the city around 5 a.m. last night. This link says it pushed around planes at the airport. There also was severe flooding, it looks like, to the north of us. Hearing this makes me feel a little better about the county's decision. weather.com/news/news/late-april-2016-severe-storms-south-plains

was forcing them to completely load out the right decision? like, couldn't they leave that up to the fest? that part really annoys me because I really think they could have just cancelled friday and had Saturday and Sunday go on
honestly kind of hoping they don't have this in austin next year so they don't get the money it will generate
There were five deaths in the state just this morning. These storms are unpredictable. Canceling, again, was the right decision.
Cancelling Friday would have been the right decision if they were concerned about the weather. Not the whole fest.
Doesn't matter, done with that negativity.
Who else is going to Animal Collective tonight? Doors are at 8, thinking of getting there a little before 730. Would like to be up front for this show.

Have fun!! I hope they do something special for yall.
Did anyone make it to that AnCo DJ set last night?
Hell ya, got a ticket to Sleep tomorrow! No Boris or Sunn O))), just a 2 hour slab of Sleep from noon to 2 to wake you up in the morning. That show's going to be a giant wake and bake.
Was not expecting to see them at all, so this is a pleasant surprise.
Damn they sold out in like 1 minute. Couldn't get one. Hopefully i can find someone selling an extra or maybe they'll have some at the door.
I'd just show up and see what happens. Worst case scenario, you listen to them from out on the street. I think they'll be loud enough that you can still hear them

I think you'd be able to hear them next door at Charlie's even. We hung there for a bit Thursday night and we could hear the Mohawk pre-fest show clear as day.

Golden Dawn Arkestra is playing Scoot Inn tomorrow. I really wish Parquet Courts was playing somewhere. I listened to to their interview and performance on local radio earlier. They don't have anything else lined up until Houston on Monday.
The storm was definitely brutal last night. We were outside smoking when it started and within the hour it was real bad. Pouring rain, hail, lightening, wind, etc. Levitation posted these photos. So even though I'm still crushed that it was cancelled, looks like it may have been the right call. The damage could've been much worse with more equipment and campers on site.

I think Levitation handled all of this well. It was cool that they had makeup shows, but did you guys have to pay for those? A festival wristband should have sufficed imo. Also, I hope those that traveled for this were able to at least get into some of the club sets. I kind of figured they would mostly be made up of locals though.

Wristbands didn't guarantee entry but all the shows were very cheap ($10 or under). Most of them proceeds went to a flood relief fund too.
Levitation did what they could and hope they recover from this, take a few weeks off, and then set back to return to the drawing board next year. Hopefully one consideration will be to move it into the fall and to another location. Only problem with that is they will now be competing with ACL and Funfunfun. Euphoria, I feel, is much of a competitor at all being a niche edm/jam fest. SXSW isn't in the same audience either so it could be a hard convince to move the dates.
