I wonder if promoters have insurance for canceled events. Something like a last second cancellation of a festival could seriously put a promoter underwater if not.

In their original statement, they mentioned it will take 30 days to refund their tickets after they sort out the process with their insurance company. I imagine that is a clusterfuck of a claim's process. On the other hand, having been cancelled via a county judge's court order due to "unsafe weather", one would hope the insurance won't put up too much of a fight against the claim.
Having lurked this thread for a while, I'd just like to say how bummed out I feel for you all who missed out on this festival due to cancellations.
I haven't been myself but the lineup looked phenomenal and I can't imagine how disappointed some of you must feel I hope those who are in the area got to see the rescheduled shows they wanted to see, take care everyone

Who all made it to AnCo last night?? I had a blast. Great performance, crazy visuals. Admittedly, emo's is my least favorite ATX venue, but they made me forget about that.

I have an extra ticket to Caribou tonight, let me know if anyone wants it.
Is this offer still available ????
Snagged! This is only the show I will have made so I'm excited. Maybe show up there and see if they hold any at the door. Anyone else going to this? Really jealous you got to see AniCo.
The Black Angels were insane last night. 5th time seeing them but by far the best. 18 songs +encore and some rare songs like Haunting At 1300 McKinley and Doves. Also the new songs are really cool, i like the 2 of them more than anything off Indigo Meadow. Allah-Las was good but only saw 3-4 songs.

Yea, sorry, ticket was given away already.
But I was at AnCo last night. It was great. I was upfront with Rothric, but we left our spot a little more than halfway through because the girls we were by were AWFUL.. Like, one of the worst crowd situations ever. Idk if I'm just getting old, or if was my state of mind, but I've never been so annoyed by a group of people next to me in a crowd before. Rothric, am I being overly sensi here or were they really that bad?

That show looked insane. I saw the photos posted from it and didn't realize what an insane light set up they had. It looked cool as fuck on the Scoot Inn stage.

Oh hell yeah, good for you then! Hope you have a blast!

Well, I had a pretty fun weekend in Austin all things considered. It was a huge let down finding out about the fest cancellation, but getting to check out the Slowdive, Animal Collective, Sleep day show and various bits of the outside shows at Barracuda helped to make up for the cancellation. Also had time to check out a lot of Austin as well as drive down to San Antonio on Saturday morning. All in all, a fun weekend.
It sucks the way things went down but I have to tip my hat to the fest organizers for handling the whole situation to the best of their ability. the fact they were able to quickly book multiple shows in downtown Austin each night so people from out of town could get to see some of the acts they travelled for, mixed with the (somewhat) consistent updates throughout the weekend regarding more details about the reason for the cancellation and the status of the fest grounds makes me believe the fest is in good hands from an organizational standpoint.
I doubt I'll make it back to Austin for Levitation in the short term, but really hope the Reverberation society are able to bounce back stronger than ever in 2017
I finally wanted to chime in on my experience after taking a few days to get home and regroup. First, while I was initially extremely disappointed in the cancellation of the fest - especially while enjoying the beautiful weather on Friday afternoon and Friday evening - I was no longer disappointed after seeing the post-storm devastation that hit the festival grounds. Luckily, my group really settled in after the initial setback and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Austin. We got to take in some of the sights, eat a lot of the city's well-regarded food (We had tons of tacos, in addition to smoked meats from Cooper's, etc.) and drink a lot - and a mean a lot - of its libations. As for the shows, we loved everything about Uncle Acid. What a band. All the acts that lead up to Uncle Acid that night at the Empire Garage also were great. My only regret is we stayed around for the Prince cover band and missed the Animal Collective DJ set. Do'h. We did rebound and see Animal Collective the next night at Emo's. The show, for the most part, mirrored the one I'd seen earlier in the year in Ohio. It was good, but I had too much fun, to be totally honest, so my post-show memories are somewhat hazy. The last night we got to see Caribou at the Mohawk, and that might have been my favorite point in the entire weekend. I loved how the venue had a tiered setup, and it was a super energetic, tight show. Afterward, my buddy and I stuck around for some of the DJs, and we got to say hi to Dan and give him a "Great show." That wasn't hyperbole on my part. I really thought it was outstanding. Well, that's my super (not) short review. I don't know if I'll go again unless they change the date or move all the shows inside. I wouldn't want to risk something like that again. Also, I have no intentions of doing another 19 hour drive. I was pretty much a zombie when I got home Tuesday night. Ugh.
And one last thing I should add to my thoughts on the (non) fest: I don't know if it's because psych fans are more open minded or what, but I was constantly amazed throughout the weekend at how great the Levitation fans were. I met people who flew in from Ireland, Australia and other far off locales, and without fail they shook off the cancellation and were having a blast. This fest really seems to attract a great fan base. They deserve kudos for that!

psych fans are best fans There wasn't anyone at the festival or after shows last year that I came across that made me want to backhand the shit out of them. I can't say that about any other fest that I've ever been to.

You drove?! Holy cow man. That's dedication. I drove from Columbus to Austin when I moved only because I had too. To do that for a fest, that's dedication. Hats off to you.
Also, it's funny you liked the Mohawk for its tierd set up because I find it to be its downfall. If you get there early and snag a good spot you're golden, but get there after all the ledge spots are taken and the floor is packed and you can't see shit. I'm 5'3 and it's pretty much guaranteed that I'll be at Mohawk shows early now just because of this. Usually get a decent spot on the floor in front of the bar.
I had a good experience with the crowds as well, for the most part. I was by a god-awful group during AnCo, but eh. Can't win em all. However I was a little taken aback by some of the stories regarding sexual assault I heard about. Apparently some girl trying to see over the fence at Uncle Acid had a bunch of guys smacking her ass and she ran off crying, then in line at AnCo someone guy literally reached down this girls shirt and grabbed her. I didn't witness any of this, just heard about it on a FB group I joined to follow the pop-up events over the weekend. I thought that it all seemed very odd, couple these stories with some of the comments and posts on the same page and it's pretty disturbing. Don't know if that was the festival crowd or the FB group, seemed to be a bit of both. But yea, that's just how two cents on the crowd. I'll hopefully attended next year, depending on line up, but the attitude towards sex and women among the crowd is pretty bothersome. Not sure what to think about it.
The setup at Mohawk is badass, that is one of the coolest small venues in the country, definitely. As for "sucks because of the tier etc", yea, get there early. Easy as that.
lol@ psych fans are best fans. Funny because it's true! Met people from all over the place in '15 for the Elevators. That show was beyond once in a lifetime.
Now that my girl is moving from NOLA, I'll have an incentive to skip Jazzfest second weekend to go to Levitation again.
Assuming that most of the bands are different next year, who do y'all want to see? I want them to pull in even more vintage psych bands. Some bands I'd like to see at Levitation 2017:
Butthole Surfers (headlining reunion show) Porno For Pyros (headlining reunion show) Siouxise & The Banshees or whatever band she has (headlining) Bubble Puppy Shiva's Headband Kaleidoscope The Golden Dawn of Montreal Roky Erickson Black Angels (obv) Follakzoid Fuzz Legendary Pink Dots (would like to give them another shot) Cocteau Twins Echo & the Bunnymen

I did drive, but I told my buddies I won't do it again. I'm going to limit future festival drives to 10-12 hours, at most. I split up both trips into two days, but it was still a long haul. And I honestly didn't think about how the Mohawk wouldn't appeal to some people. I'm kind of lucky in terms of being tall, so I was able to set up behind the first row or two of people looking down on the stage from the right ledge in front of the poster/shirt booth. I can see that being an issue, though. Everybody is kind of crammed in there. And I'm glad I didn't witness any of that negativity. For me, it was pretty much smooth sailing, save for when I got a little too amp'd up during AnCo and threw up in my drink (Trust me, I quickly brushed it off and got a new one
Random thought, Radius Clause forshadowed the fate of this fest with those damn "does not equal" signs. :/
Hopefully we get a preview come October again. Has anyone recieved a refund yet?
I have not. I was actually wondering about that. I saw they posted today about it. But do you have to actually do anything to receive the refund or is it just automatic? I haven't filled anything out or anything, I just assumed it'd be automatic.

It should be automatic and if anything is required of us, we would receive an email notifying us. They said it would likely take around 30 days to get everything straightened out with the insurance and I'm counting on them cause I need the money to spend on an air bnb for Lolla.

They say they are independent and not backed by a major company or investors, so all the money they made off tickets went to artist security deposits, production vendors, and event costs. They took a big loss and are still waiting on the insurance claim to be paid. Here is the info they posted on the refund process.
Refunds for purchases made through our ticketing provider, Front Gate Tickets, will be processed through the account used for the purchase.
If your credit card or debit card has expired, or has been otherwise replaced, the refund should still be processed electronically through the account used.
If your account has closed, or changed, or if you need your refund sent via another method for any reason, please contact us ASAP at customerservice@levitation-austin.com. If we have any issues processing a refund, customers will be contacted directly.
Many people have offered understanding and support through this process and we greatly appreciate it. We know that the cancellation of the festival is a frustrating and unfortunate situation for our customers, and we understand that many of you are very upset. We want you to know we’re doing everything we can to get refunds processed as soon as possible.
We’ll let you know as soon as we have additional info on refunds through official announcements on social media, newsletters, and direct emails to customers.
all the best, The Reverberation Appreciation Society
