Very interested in attending this year. Think I'm going to way for Coachella and Shaky Knees to announce line ups first. Do weekend passes typically sell out in advance?
I don't think this fest has ever sold out. The ranch is permitted about 15-20k and this reaches 5-10k maybe. Anyone have better numbers?
Correct, it has never sold out since being at its current location.
Based on my Sang-Certified Crowd Size Estimation Algorithm (TM), I'd put the crowd at 5k, maybe 7k tops.
However, I do think last year's attendance was hampered by the weather. It looked pretty apocalyptic for a bit, and the whole fest was almost canceled last minute. It turned out to be pretty decent weather with just a little rain here and there.
Euphorias initial line up looks pretty loaded. I wonder if they compliment each other or hurt each other. Im looking forward to both. Theyre markets are different obviously. And there are a growing number of Austin folks who are over ACL and even the FFF vibes.
I trust Rothrics #s. I think this line up definitely bring some numbers.
It will definitely bring in some good numbers, but if 2015's lineup wasn't a sellout, I don't see how 2016 will be any different. Which is fine with me, I want this festival to continue to be the little known gem that it is.
Edit: Just noticed what Rothric said about the weather last year. Still don't think it sells out.
Another solid Psych Fest lineup. Thinking there has to be 1 bigger headliner that they'll probably announce in like February. The Elevators reunion was announced like Feb 12th or 13th this year.
The Murlocs are another fantastic Aussie psych band who are really good friends with the guys in King Gizz. It's probably a near certainty that they will go on tour with King Gizz after they leave Levitation.
I've got to think that Boris > Sunn O))) > Sleep in the levitation tent makes a whole lot of sense.
Same with Oneohtrix Point Never > Nicolas Jaar.
Same with FlyLo > Animal Collective. (Although that could be a situation where AnCo headlines and FlyLo is the late show)
Also, we got Mild High Club! Fuck Yes!
So do you guys think that Caribou is the 3rd headliner or someone else? If yes, I've got to think that this is probably the first festival that they've headlined. Now come to think of it, I bet AnCo hasn't headlined a festival either.
Looking forward to checking out some of the bands towards the bottom of the bill that I've never heard of before. This fest always seems to find some up and coming gems.
I'm thinking FlyLo will be on the main stage before the headliner that night. I think him and his stage setup is too big for the tent where the late show happens. Unless they have Brian Wilson do his set 2nd to last a la 13th Floor Elevators, then have FlyLo close down the main stage after that. But if they went FlyLo > AnCo...may God have mercy on my brain, I might explode in ecstasy!
FlyLo > AnCo or vice versa would be amazeballs. The one I'm praying for, and that might literally kill me, is if they put Gizzard > Ty. I might actually die from euphoria/exhaustion.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the electronic acts booked for this fest again after catching a couple of them at Day For Night in Houston. Flying Lotus just keeps adding different and trippier visuals everytime I catch him and Nico Jaar's set was a real highlight with great buildups and come-downs, neat back dropped lighting, and some interesting social commentary audio samples dropped into the mix.

Those visuals for FlyLo are done on the fly by two visual artists. One is controlling the front screen, one the back. That blew my mind when I found they were doing the visuals live like that.
I'm so happy to hear that both FlyLo and Nico were highlights for you, absolutely cannot wait for their sets. Jukely never came up with passes for DfN, so decided to be responsible and not go
I still can't get over how amazing this lineup is. I have to look at it every few days just to remind myself I didn't dream it!
Radius Claus stop slacking and get that OP updated with the full lineup poster!
Check page 5 of this thread, good discussion about it.
I like it, and plan to camp again this year. There are pros to staying at a hotel (weather, shower, etc), but I feel the advantages of camping outweigh it, for me at least. I don't mind camping, I'd much rather not have to worry about driving, and I like to be surrounded by people as crazy as me
Also, I wrote a review of '14, it's linked in my sig. Has a few details about camping in it.

So somehow I missed that the full line up had come out until just yesterday when they posted a playlist of all the artists on their FB page. I'm reeeeallly hoping that Caribou & Woods (and FlyLo and Nicolas Jarr and AnCo ) all play the same day as Brian Wilson. With my trip overseas officially booked this is just too close to that and finals to justify a whole weekend. But I'm committed to doing a day pass for the Sounds of Brian Wilson's Pets.
Dammit. I didn't even include all the people I want to see (King Gizz, Twin Peaks, etc) and typing this out just made me realize how great this line up is. Ugh, I'll probably end up caving in and going. I hate myself for my irresponsiblity already.

You can get a ticket for $165 and no fees if you go pick it up in person. And if you can stay at your place to save the camping fee.
Psssh, finals. Just study the week before!
Look at that lineup and realize how amazing it is. Don't fight it.

You, sir, are a terrible influence. And I'm impressionable.... My school schedule will really dictate what happens. I'll be there one day for sure, but I can't commit to the weekend as of yet. But let's just say my willpower to say no is really nonexistent right now.

I know, but really, can you beat this for $165? You don't have to factor in any other costs since you're local now! I don't remember what the day passes cost last year, but I think they were either $75 or $100, maybe someone else remembers.
Who knows, Jukely might come through with passes too. They did for FFF, and Transmission Events is involved in Levitation now too.
Regarding scheduling, we know Animal Collective will be either Friday or Saturday. They have a date in Arkansas on Thursday and Oklahoma on Sunday. Not sure on anyone else's dates at this point.
Lineup by day for Levitation Chicago is out now. 4 new additions too: Lightning Bolt, HEALTH, Gary Wilson, and nite Fields. Not bad for additions! billybaroochicojuarz

I had a good time last year. Thursday looks like a can't miss and there are a few things on the Fri/Sat I'm interested in.
Gotta check out the FMC's work schedule. I'd like to see any of those headliners. But I"m also trying to not take time off so I can have a lot of time off for my wedding.

I've been wanting to go to this since it's inception. The first year I even bought a ticket and still have the shirt! This time, I'm going instead of Roo for sure. One thing that i'm excited for are preshows on Thursday because they always have groups I can't see in Florida. I am also excited about Lineup additions. They always seem to add some unexpected headliner and 2-3 other decent big names. Anyone have some ideas of who could be added or who you would want to see added? I would like to see any of the following.. The Zombies MGMT Van Morrison The Horrors Diiv Death Grips Pond Gum M83 Deerhuner Explosions in the Sky Beach Fossils A Place To Bury Strangers Crocodiles Black Moth Super Rainbow Kill West Night Beats Temples The Soft Moon Shapes have Fangs The Night Beats Christian Bland and the Revelators The Ufo Club
Hey guys, can I get a word of advice on where to start with Sleep? I know of them but don't really know their music and I'm just trying to give myself more reasons to make Levitation happen...

sleep's holy mountain
(play it loud)
X 1,000,000
Holy Mountain and then Dopesmoker. Just block out 2 and a half hours of your day. Totally worth it.
Looking at Explosions In The Sky's recently announced tour dates, I expect them to be an addition.
They have a US leg of a tour that starts on 5/2 in AZ and no other TX dates. They haven't played the past few years, and them being local certainly helps.
I have to imagine I'll more than likely miss their set due to the unbelievably stacked lineup (since I've seen them a few times), but who knows. Either way, they'd be an excellent addition to the fest.

Just saw the dates and was thinking the same thing. I'd love them as an addition because I've never seen them and it would take away one of the few reasons I really want to do SK
