Who are we hoping/thinking gets after shows? Do they ever get artists that aren't at the fest?
If that schedule turns out to be right:
Thursday: all I really care about is Last Shadow Puppets
Friday: I'll probably spend all of Friday camped at the main stage from The Struts ----> Radiohead so I can be rail. My question to all of you, as someone who has not seen Radiohead, do y'all think I should try to be on the rail or back enough so that I can see their light/stage setup?
Saturday: I'll catch Big Grams -> Jane's -> Grimes -> and then a little of Disclosure and RHCP -> and leave early before going to an aftershow
Sunday: the only time I have a hard conflict is Die Antwoord vs. LCD... It isn't really even that it's a hard choice, it's easily LCD but I've been trying to see Die Antwoord for years and I thought it was finally gonna happen. It's ok though, cause I've got LCD to look forward to!!!

They occasionally get some acts who don't play the festival, like last year Madeon and the year before Disclosure, and if you're into house or techno some clubs will get acts like Shadow Child and Julio Bashmore.

They get a handful of artists that aren't at the fest for after shows. Usually openers, but there will be 2 or 3 big names.
I actually don't see a lot of stuff on there that excites me for an after show. Maybe Bob Moses or Rufus? Most of the acts I like I've already seen at club shows.

Ok, yeah, I feel the same way about none of them really exciting me. I could see Die Antwoord possibly doing an aftershow and that would please me greatly so that their conflict didn't hurt so bad. Todd Terje is probably my most desired/somewhat realistic hope unless they get something that really surprised me

For Radiohead, I'd get close up. I'm sure the lighting set up will be different, but last tour's lighting rig seemed to look cooler up close. Not to mention you'll be surrounded by fans who will be really into it.
After getting shut out of Radiohead in NY and LA. I finally got lucky and grabbed Friday tickets for this. Here is hoping that Radiohead and GHOST do not conflict.
On the draft schedule that someone posted... GHOST and Radiohead do indeed play at the same time.

Exactly, you don't want to get stuck around people who talk loudly during tracks like How To Disappear Completely or Pyramid Song.

ugh i hope that proves untrue. Though I am seeing GHOST on this tour at another stop. No matter Radiohead alone is worth 120$ the rest is just extra and if nothing of note is competing we will get close during the couple shows before them. Also, looking forward to after show announcements.

And in regards to the homogeny of the lineup against all the other festivals in the country... consider it a throwback to the old days of Lollapalooza, which traveled all across the USA!

Gotcha and great point about the fans. Looks like I'll be shooting for the rail (or as close as I can get)
At first I was a little letdown by the rest of the Friday undercard, but then I realized that if it's Foals > M83 > 1st Radiohead show, that puts me in about as good of a position as possible for RH.
So, I made a Spotify playlist, ordered by billing. 10 songs for the major artists (headliners and Jane's Addiction), 5 songs for everyone on the undercard up to Jack Garratt, 3 songs for every line starting with Marshmello. You may also notice I decided to give only one song to J. Cole, G-Eazy, Halsey, Bastille, and the Front Bottoms. I did this to acknowledge their presence but they're the only five who overexposure to has made me not want to listen to them at all. Hope you enjoy.
Unless you're really into electronic, I don't see how Coachella> Lolla. In terms of headliners at least, Lolla>>>>>>>>Coachella all day.
The reason Coachella is better than Lollapalooza is the ratio of terrible bands is much smaller.
Sure, there is questionable stuff at Coachella such as Ellie Goulding, Halsey, James Bay, 1975 and Calvin Harris - to knock out the big ones. But the undercard is rock solid. There is a much bigger list of arguably BAD music on that Lollapalooza list.
Lolla has great acts, no question. Radiohead is always a huge get. But man, there is some garbage on that poster.
It's all subjective, but I hate Coachella's lineup this year. Out of the 150+ acts, there are 43 that I want to see but 71 that I won't go to whatsoever.
