I enjoy Griz, Bob Moses, Classixx, Jauz, Zhu, Seven Lions, and even Snails.......
but Floss, Yellow Claw, Hardwell, Garrix, Flume, Major Lazer, Adventure Club, and Big Gigantic made me laugh.
Considering the list of acts that "made you laugh", I'm shocked you enjoy Griz, Jauz, Seven Lions, and Snails as they're on the same level, if not worse.
Why the hate on GRiZ? He's on the cutting edge of an entire new style of music and is an anti-douche. I saw him twice last weekend, and both shows were excellent. I live in a city that embraces brass and the funk, so future funk isn't that much of a leap.
This isn't as good as Coachella, so that's not really a worthwhile argument. I don't find it "smaller" though by any stretch. You can see where the money went - in some cases it went to highly popular acts that are targeted to HS kids.
But out of the big lineups announced this is a lot better than everything else. People comparing this unfavorably to Roo are in denial.

Oh God of course it's better than Bonnaroo.
Tell that to the Bonnaroo reddit users with cognitive dissonance.

I feel like I'm wasting my time right now trying to get tickets to this festival... sitting in a standby room with no luck as of right now.. yesterday same thing... ugh..
Upcoming gigs -------------- 6/28 - Dave Matthews Band - Moline 6/29 - Dave Matthews Band - Kansas City 7/8 - Duran Duran - Chicago 7/9 - Summerfest - Milwaukee 7/10 - Sting/Peter Gabriel - Milwaukee 7/27 - Diana Ross - Chicago 7/28-29 - Lollapalooza - Chicago 7/28 - Bob Moses - Chicago 7/29 - The Joy Formidable - Chicago 8/21 - Wilco - Chicago 9/6 - Kraftwerk 3-D - Atlanta 9/7 - Kraftwerk 3-D - Memphis 9/10-11 - LouFest - St. Louis
Unless you're really into electronic, I don't see how Coachella> Lolla. In terms of headliners at least, Lolla>>>>>>>>Coachella all day.
The acts I care about at Lollapalooza that aren't at Coachella: Radiohead, Local Natives, Classixx, Frightened Rabbit, Yeasayer.
The acts I care about at Coachella that aren't at Lollapalooza: Sufjan Stevens, Underworld, the Kills, 2manydjs, St. Germain, Savages, Parov Stelar, Black Coffee, HEALTH, Guns N Roses, Chvrches, Lush, Deerhunter, Nina Kraviz, DJ Koze, badbadnotgood, Dubfire, Matthew Dear, Algiers, GoGo Penguin, the Black Madonna, Sia, Rancid, HudMo, Kamasi Washington, Claptone, Deadheaven, Anderson. Paak, Nosaj Thing, Tensnake, Young Fathers, the Heavy.
Obviously personal preferences dictate, but most of the acts that I'm seeing on Lolla's lineup that aren't also at Coachella are not my thing at all - J. Cole, Future, Hardwell, Martin Garrixx, Die Antwoord, Bastille, Bloc Party, Big Grams, Excision, Big G, Mac Miller, etc.
All good acts you list and I agree with the under card being more important. I guess it's just harder for me to notice when the top lines are LCD | GnR | Calvin Harris and LCD | RH | RHCP. (I say this as a fan of RHCP and a non-fan of GnR, which I accept puts me in the minority around here).

Yeah, especially because out of all the big room, popular/mainstream EDM, Flume and Major Lazer aren't really that bad. Meanwhile, Griz and Snails are some of the worst shit I've ever heard in my entire life.
If you think Griz is some of the worst shit you've ever heard then you need to pull the stick tree out of your ass. You're the prime example of a person that thinks all music they don't REALLY ENJOY is the worst shit ever and the people that listen to it are idiots. I understand the hate toward someone like Snails or Jauz because they're shit is something you really like or you really don't. But throwing Griz into that mix shows your a idiot music snob that thinks anything but your preferences are worthless.

Or, Griz is awful. That's the other possibility here.
Also, we really need my man Homophones Guy to check this post out. He'll have a goddamn aneurysm.
I saw him two Fridays ago at a festival and he played turn down for what and a fucking Pitbull song.

He also played a sh*tload of Say It Loud (much of it with other live instrumentalists and vocalists) and also intro'd in with Suite Judy Blue Eyes. I'm probably the only MF in the audience who even knew that song, but it ain't exactly an EDM staple. To each their own, but I'd put Say It Loud up with any funk or electronica that came out in 2015.

Anecdotally, it sounds like there was a lot more demand for single days this year. I know a bunch of people who usually do 3 days who balked at buying a 4 day and tried their luck with singles.
I take it all back. That's hilarious and I love it.
It's like these guys were sitting around and said "hey, EDM is great and all, but what if we made it more like a Macklemore video?"
If it's serious, it's the worst thing ever. If they're in on the joke, it's still terrible, but at least it's terrible on purpose. Either way, I'm now all in on Party Favor, though they really should have named themselves BAP SQUAD.
If you watch til the end, you see that "Party Favor" is only one of the members. All four of those guys make up the BAP SQUAD, but they each have their own name by themselves (Diplo, Party Favor, Ookay, ect. Ect.)
I'm glad somebody is happy around here. Anymore, I feel like some of yall expect 100% compliance for these festivals to pander to your specific musical tastes. Id love to go to this.
Overall, the lineup has stuff for most people to like. Definitely doesn't cater heavily to one genre (EDM is a lot but isn't THAT much, they just stand out to non-edm fans) but I think they have a decent amount of acts for a wide-variety of music fans.
Can't get the vacation time for this year but someone let me know how awesome Griz's set is
After getting shut out of Radiohead in NY and LA. I finally got lucky and grabbed Friday tickets for this. Here is hoping that Radiohead and GHOST do not conflict.

I mean, I'm not exactly happy with the lineup as a whole, but LCD and Radiohead are two top-of-the-bucket-list level bands, each worth $120 in their own right.
If the draft schedule is right, I wouldn't mind the Foals > M83 > Radiohead triple threat, and I'm hoping that LCD's crowd is small so that I can watch Silversun Pickups, get a good spot for Flume, and make a play for the front before LCD. I went to Flume in 2014 and was able to get pretty close like halfway through his set, and leaving for the first 5 minutes of Skrillex's set was no issue. (I just wanted to see if brought his setup, ok?)
I won't touch Thursday with a ten-foot pole, although I'll be on the hunt for Saturday tickets or some decent aftershows.
