Still have an extra weekend one wristband, but may sell both and just go Friday for Radiohead. I have them up on craigslist for now. Just noting. I expect to lose some money on this one. It seems like market saturation entirely.
This will most likely be my last festival for a while. I would skip it entirely, but am hoping the custom earplugs I got can keep my tinnitus at bay. It got worse in the past 2 years and I am now looking at retiring from festivals. I posted in the hearing protection thread regarding it, but listening to your ears ring constantly sucks (only my right ear). I don't want it to get worse.
Don't forget your earplugs, and go ahead and fork over the $200 for some custom molded ones from an audiologist if you go to a lot of shows. I wish I would have done that years ago.
Is a weekend 2 LCD after show too much to ask for?
ive been praying to the festival gods for a weekend 1 aftershow but i think ive about given up hope. Sunday tickets for both weekends haven't sold out yet so they are probably hesitant to let a headliner do an aftershow. going to fest friday, seeing LCD saturday, and then going to fest on Sunday again would be the best weekend
i am eagerly keeping an eye on M83 ticket prices. secondary markets have them at $25 before fees. If I can nab one of those tickets for like 20 bucks i think i'd go. I'm probably gonna miss them at the fest to have a better spot for Radiohead and its been like 4 years since ive seen them

After waking up the next day from a couple shows w short lived ringing, I ponied up some $$$ for earplugs. Found I have extremely short external canals n they didn't fit! Luckily the company sent me different onces for free n I found a way to make em work.

The M83 prices will probably go down. M83 might be a little more popular, but I was able to grab a ticket for the Decembrists after show last year for around $10.

greedy house renters/corporations are gunna kill this fest. the cost of a house near zilker is dumb stupid. nearly twice the cost of a 3 story condo on the beach and i get that for 7 days. acl we only do thursday-monday.
ACL will survive, but what you said may eventually kill off SoS (FFF), Utopia, Euphoria, ect.
The fests mentioned other than ACL all have a camping option, plus they're considerably smaller and hotel and airbnb options should not be an issue. Renting a house during SxSW week would be great with a big crew.
Vieux, sorry to hear about your friend and missing ACL. Hope to see you at another fest in the near future and maybe at a Radiohead set.

Very true. I just feel none of the other 3 have the capital of C3/LN to survive a market saturation (who knows if Sound on Sound even does well until we get there).

I hoping Sound On Sound sticks around and can pick back up on the great niche lineups FFF was putting out. As far as Utopia, they should be fine as long as they have a location and people continue to enjoy raging to EDM.

Thanks FuzzyWarbles! Since Radiohead said that they will be touring in 2017, we decided to do our girl's trip to see them wherever they play closest to us. From now on, we are only doing second weekend. If we had second weekend the chance of her being able to go would be much greater, and I wouldn't have this bullshit with work going on.
Somehow won tickets to the Band of Horses ACL Live taping on Sunday... This is my 2nd time winning tickets to an ACL Live taping.. To all the people that say you have to be a donor to PBS or whatever to win those, it's possible for regular people too, guys.

I was told they also let in a good number of public right outside the venue.
We went to Euphoria. There was as much rap and jam as EDM on my schedule. It's probably not as edm as it used to be though if someone wanted to see DJs all day they could. Sure, Bassnectar, G. Jones, Big Wild, Dillon Francis, etc were there. But I also caught STS9, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Digital Tape Machine, Sky Dyed, Break Science, Lettuce, GRiZ Live set, Tycho live set, Broccoli Samurai, Spafford, Motet, etc.
In glad they expanded a bit. Hoping Lotus comes back. (They headlined in 14 in I think)
Saturday night motherfucker. I'm jamming on Papadosio (pop a dose, yo) from their recent Red Rocks show. It's great but shot in VR so video is useless. But that's tomorrow after P'Funk.

Webcast schedule has been released. They are also doing a live VR webcast that I am looking forward to checking out with my new Samsung Gear VR. The future is now!

So when Tennessee beat Florida last Saturday, my family decided to make the trip to College Station for the UT vs Texas A&M game, and my brother and I decided that leaving a day early to go to the 2nd Friday of ACL for that Foals > FlyLo > Radiohead run was going to make it an extra special weekend. I'm beyond excited. I feel like even if UT loses the game on Saturday, I won't really even care because I'll still be on that euphoric high from Friday night. Also gonna be my first time visiting the state of Texas (other than a layover in DFW which doesn't really count). This is one of those moments where everything just fell into the right place at the right time. So stoked!
I entered to get into this yesterday, really keeping my fingers crossed I can get in. Would love to see a taping while I'm in town, and Foals are gonna put on a great show
