Flying today, gonna stay in Tacoma tonight because we're interested in living there for affordability's sake. Then in Seattle Fri-Sun. Only thing we've really got planned is seeing University of Washington because its a possible grad school destination. We were considering MoPop museum. Mostly just want to get a good feel for the city. I'm sure we'll go out drinking at least one night, but days are pretty open
If you're just looking to get a feel for the city I'd recommend simply going to Ballard or Capitol Hill and going for a walk, checking out the myriad breweries in Fremont, catch Dry Cleaning at the Neptune tomorrow night (!!), it's going to be pretty dreary this weekend (read: Seattle from October-April), but taking a ride on the ferry to Bainbridge and back is a pretty lovely way to get a perspective and beautiful view of the city, grab a beer and the head back into town. My favorite thing about Seattle is the proximity to the water, so we live in Lower Queen Anne (now weirdly rebranded as Uptown), so if you find yourself near there this evening feel free to hit me up for a beer at the Queen Anne Beer Hall! If you're just here briefly, I'd avoid the downtown and Pioneer Square areas. Do206 and The Stranger are great resources for things to do as well. Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford and the Capitol Hill areas are probably my favorite places to roam.
Feel free to DM me if you wanna chat more as time goes on about the city, etc if you want! Have fun!
Thanks for your recs! Our hotel was right near Pike Place which I'm sure is tourist town, but it was fun! Got to Seattle Friday and checked out Pike Place. Did a wine-tasting there and ate some snacky stuff along the way. Didn't do too much Friday night because we were tired. Ate some pizza from Serious Pie and went to the hotel bar. Saturday we watched sunrise at Madrona Park (we were on East coast time and paired with the recent time change we were up super early and to bed pretty early) and then went to breakfast at a place called Hi Spot Cafe which was absolutely delicious. Went up to Fremont for dinner and ate at Rockcreek Seafood then hit some of the nearby bars. Stampede, George & Dragon, and my favorite was Add-a-Ball (which is a bar full of pinball machines for others reading this). We went to Capitol Hill after that but were pretty tired and didn't stay long. Sunday morning went to MoPop and got some great Thai food from Bangrak Market for lunch before heading to the airport. Never made it to Queen Anne, but I'm confident I'll be back again to say hello!

I have no info to benefit you. I just wanna say nice choice. That's gonna be a good time.

I would stay in Santorini the entire time. I stayed in Perissa, which wasn’t glamorous by any means, but rooms were super affordable. It was more chill and had less going on mostly because it’s a black rock beach and less picturesque than Oia. It mostly felt old, touristy, with actual tourists few and far in between. I don’t think cruise ships get off on that side, so there’s way less commotion. The island is really small so you can be on the other side within minutes. I highly recommend getting an atv or bike vs a rental car. It’s quite liberating to zoom around the island and off the beaten path at ones discretion. They will even deliver it to the airport and pick it up from you there when you depart. You have to take it easy because the roads are narrow and you probably want to be just call for a taxi after sunset. I found some of my favorite moments and places just riding around. Even if you don’t get one as your primary source of transportation I recommend one for the day.
As far as sights go I highly recommend visiting the Red Beach in the picture below.
My partner and I are (hopefully) heading to Seattle this coming weekend. We're staying downtown (very close to the Space Needle), but we'll have a car so we can drive if needed. Any restaurant recommendations? Or other things to see/do? Is the Pike Place Market really worth it?
Also, we want to try to go to Olympic National Park on the Sunday that we are there, but I'm having a hard time figuring out if that's feasible in winter weather without an AWD vehicle and if the part of the park that is the closest to Seattle is worth going to (Staircase I believe is the name of that entrance).
Not a local, but we've been up to Seattle quite a bit. Pike Place is worth a quick stop. Il Corvo has delicious Italian food. If you like pinball, there's some cool bars including Shorty's and Jupiter Bar. Since you'll have a car, a quick drive to Fremont for the brewery or go to Snoqualmie if you're a Twin Peaks fan! Also nice to take the ferry to one of the islands.

We already had Juniper Bar on our list... but they posted on their Instagram recently that they were closing "indefinitely" due to Covid exposure, so who knows if we'll be able to go.

I really loved MoPop, which is right next to the Space Needle. My sister in-law/brother in-law got married at a great restaurant that overlooks Green Lake, and we had a great family dinner two nights before, and the rehearsal dinner the night before. Let me see if I can find the name of those places. All good restaurants with, I think, different price points.
Anything worthwhile in Pittsburgh? I've got a few days there late March/early April...
Uh, yeah! Everything!
If you want a museum - Carnegie Museums (Art, Natural History) are basically on Pitt/CMU campuses and world class. The Warhol is on the North Side and is the largest museum dedicated to one artist in the world.
The city is aesthetically pleasing on the eye. Take the incline up to Mt Washington for the overlook to see out in every direction.
What kind of food would you be interested in? My sandwich/beer place is Fatheads, South Side, East Carson St. If you've never had Primanti's, it's a staple, but it's not my favorite. Pamela's in the Strip District for breakfast - cash only, get the pancakes.
I could go on and on so if you have more targeted requests let me know.

Great information, thank you! Museums absolutely peak my interest, I'll definitely make those a priority. I'll be there/surrounding area for 5 days and haven't been before. For food I definitely want to check out what is unique to the area, but I'm always happy with a good sandwich and/ or a solid drink. I appreciate the information!

what part of town are you staying? i have a whole google doc i can share in a few days when i'm off work and able to access my computer.
That would be awesome - I've got a few days on my own to explore Pittsburgh and then a few days with family about an hour east. I haven't booked a place in the city yet, but will this week

I'll add the Mattress Factory to this list.
Also, I hope you are coming into Pitt from the south so you can go through the Fort Pitt tunnel.

Anyone got tips for Charleston, SC? alawre and I might be heading down there with some teenagers in a couple months.
Places I went to in Charleston:
- Magnolia Plantation and Gardens - Sullivan’s Island - Fort Moultrie - Charleston City Market - Rainbow Row - Pineapple Fountain and the Battery - soccer game - Holy City and Edmond's Oast (breweries)
My friend lives in North Chas, so I ended up around Park Circle and East Montague St a bit.
Things I know I missed: - Fort Sumter, it's on an island and requires a ferry. So I did Moultrie instead, due to time constraints - Patriots Point Naval Museum - SC Aquarium
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
