Thanks for the rec's again...just booked a room at The Cosmo with the fountain view balcony. Bavette also looks right up my dads ally so going to plan on dinner there one night. For dinner reservations in general in Vegas how far out do I need to book for 2 people?
nice! you'll love the room and Bavette's. i book out reservations as far as possible, but availability can vary wildly from restaurant to restaurant. like Carbone is absolutely impossible to get a reservation. others may be months in advance, others week of.
for bavette's in particular, with just the two of y'all you can always just walk in and sit next to each other at the bar, no reservation required. still i'd advise making a reservation as soon as possible, you can always cancel. they will fill up, especially on a fri/sat.

unfortunately my knowledge of downtown/fremont is extremely limited. not sure if shuck knows any place. i will say people never shut up about Esther's Kitchen, and it does look great, i plan to go there next trip.

It’s nothing fancy, but I always liked Nacho Daddy. Also, I think it’s the Arts District, but close to downtown, my favorite was The Cornish Pasty Co.
Oscar’s is the famous steakhouse downtown, they have a once monthly event that sells out fast where you can dine with former mayor/mob lawyer Oscar Goodman if you see that lol. Otherwise if I’m downtown it’s mostly to game or hang out on Fremont.
Also, random Cosmo tips: most Milk Bar stuff isn’t fresh, the really good and small Ghost Donkey tequila bar is in the food court area towards the back, the door has a sign with a donkey on it, Secret Pizza lines get LONG late at night, the daytime pools are pretty chill and a great place to relax but do not be an idiot like me and forget to bring flip flops since the concrete gets hot, the “weed shop” with security across the boulevard is a scam.

Cosmo has so may dope spots for lunch. I'd either would do EggSlut or hit up the buffet that's in the hotel (I forgot the name but it was really really good)
Yeah the Cosmo buffet has its haters and lovers but everyone in my family loves it (I’ve never been.) At lunch I usually just go across the street for fast food or get something at the pool. Secret Pizza also opens at 11 so you could consider that.

For lunch near the Cosmo, China Poblano at Cosmo is great, plus its a Chef Jose Andres restaurant and he is a real one. You also have Din Tae Fung next door at Aria. Dumplings are their specialty but i went crazy over their hot and sour soup. If you are a Gordon Ramsay guy at all, Hells Kitchen in front of Caesar's is a lot of fun and legit good food. Possibly the best hamburger I've ever had, sticky toffee pudding is elite, and of course beef wellington.
For quick food court lunches, there is also a food court over at Aria if you want additional options. Way more seating over there too.
Regarding dinner at The Venetian, there are an overwhelming amount of options. I've heard nothing but good things about Yard Bird but haven't eaten there myself. If you are in the mood for pasta, Brera Osteria is awesome, if you are in the mood for fine dining, CUT is also awesome. You didn't ask, but if you want a quick bite and are near the Palazzo, Miznon is great, you can get a bag of green beans and a whole head of roasted cauliflower, which is great when your body is screaming at you for vegetables in Las Vegas.
As shuck said and kingvamp999wrld illustrates, Wicked Spoon has it's lovers and haters. I wasn't impressed with it, but my experience is from eight years ago. In terms of buffets i really want to try the buffet at Wynn.
Bavette's pro tip: if possible, see if they can fill a bathtub with their béarnaise sauce so you can bath in it.

About 10 days. I'm dragging my dad to Star Wars Celebration. Although really that's just a convenient excuse to go to Tokyo.
First thing I would recommend is see if you can carve out enough time to go take a 1 or 2 day trip via shinkansen to Hiroshima/Itsukushima or Kyoto, the former to see the bombing sites/the floating torii gate and the latter for the older remnants of imperial Japan. Otherwise Tokyo itself is mostly best as a city for just picking a random spot and walking around. There’s a few places I’d recommend on their own (Ueno Park, Akihabara, Asakusa Shrine/Sensoji). Sort of like European churches, Japanese shrines/temples can get kind of repetitive after a while so if you want to see those look out for the more unique ones imo. Shibuya crossing is fun at night to see but you don’t have to stay too long unless you’re shopping (though Onna Doujo is a great restaurant I went to in the area), I’m trying to think if there’s anything crazy anywhere but I mostly liked walking lol.

Mexico City is just 8 weeks away and I'm not ready at all! Itinerary looks like this:
Wednesday: arrival around 5 pm Thursday: day trip to Teotihuacan Friday: Museo Nacional de Antropología and possibly the zoo, Metallica at Foro Sol Saturday: the Frida Kahlo museum, Lucha Libre at Arena Coliseo Sunday: probably an easy morning, Metallica at Foro Sol Monday: departure around 11 am
Anyone been to a show at Foro Sol? Transportation away from the stadium after the show is probably my biggest concern at this juncture. Ticketmaster just sent me an email with shuttle options and I'm curious if that's the way to go, but everything is in Spanish and I'm just not fluent. Where should we stay? Much more interested in being near cool bars and restaurants than the attractions mentioned above, since we can just Uber to those or whatever. A hotel in a neighborhood that has stuff to walk to would be ideal. Any general tips in the vein of "don't drink the tap water"? Any specific restaurants or bars worth checking out?

Just got back from a work trip where I stayed in la Reforma. It was nice being next to Chapultepec, but I'd rather stay in Roma Norte or Condesa - both great options.
Going to NYC in October for Vampire Weekend @ MSG and have an afternoon between my train/bus and the show. Any recommendations on a place to grab food / drinks or just walk around? I've already seen all the sightseeing things and this is my first time solo in NYC. I prefer dive bars and non fancy spots.
