Def hitting up that King Cake Festival in Champions Square before Tool. tool > drive > sleep >parades> king cake > tool > victory
FYI, the nola arena fubu messaged me back saying they would have merch tents outside the venue if it wasn't raining so if you are poster nerds like Longinus and I you should be able to get one and stash them.
Tool and Primus prints will be $45 a piece, signed Tool prints are $150. I think Primus signed prints are $150 for this tour bc of Tool but they are normally a hundo.
Shirts are like $30-50 (lame) but I've seen cool bootleg shirts on ebay so they bootleggers should be firesale-ing them in Pcola in Nola so they aren't stuck with them.
Should be getting to pcola around 330 or 4 tomorrow

I have a feeling he's still trying to piece together his reality at the moment.
Sorry folks for taking so long, I was disconnected from the internet ever since the show. Let me first curse the damn venue because they managed the entrance line so poorly that it caused me to miss the entire Primus set which made it seem as though the night my already be ruined... HOWEVER, Tool blew me away so much by the time they took the intermission break that I completely forgot I had missed Primus. My dear God, that was one of the best rock shows I have ever seen. The visuals were captivating and truly blew me away. Idk if I can even pick a favorite song from the set, but if I had to, I'd definitely go 46 & 2. My ONLY complaints were:
1. People smoking around. I know I sound lame and I'm a smoker myself so I understand people "needing" a cigarette but I genuinely hate the smell of smoke (whether it's tobacco or anything else) and I was happy that I'd be able to enjoy the show without that, but people did it anyway. It's just a small problem I had because I was distracted by the music most of the time anyway.
2. It was a bummer that Maynard stayed back on the platform the ENTIRE show. I hoped he'd at least come down front for a little bit. This was a bummer but not a surprise.
Other than that, that show was mind-blowing. Music was top notch. And as for the things I saw, I don't know if I could explain it to you while sober.

We had seats on the side. Fascinating viewing of Maynard. You should see him back there. He either stands like a statue or he is all over the place dancing like a maniac. In his paintball uniform.

He kept going into this squat/lunge-type stance all night and he would do very small movements that mostly included rocking forward and backward and kind of head banging but with his whole body. But, at the very end of the show, he cut loose and danced his ass off for like 30 seconds and it was awesome to see him look like he was really enjoying it.
Show was outrageous. We were on the beach later than we should have so we were about an hour behind. Got to the Bay Center a bit after 815 and were inside with booze by 830. Unfortunately Primus was on their last 3 songs already. We got all of My Name is Mud and Jerry was a race at driver.
Tool came on and at first I was a little disappointed with the video and graphic production work compared to 2010 though the sound was awesome. Obviously they planned to peel back layers of what was in store a little at a time before unleashing the full video and visual assault. jabco is thinking it's going to be a hard show to top in 2016 - except we will see them tonight in NOLA. We also went to see the Pass the Good aftershow with Post Pluto. That was a good Afterparty scene and a good show as well.
Did you see the dude fall out the suite balcony esteban? Fucking crazy.
I missed that though my boy from tx bit the stairs last night. Haha. Show was pretty up there in the all time rankings. Primus threw in some extra shit at the end too. Quacking bad ass show.
Not much to add that hasn't been said already. Pensacola show was outstanding. Hell I even enjoyed 3Teeth, nice to hear a younger band playing that early 90s style industrial music.
Primus was wonderful and is really the best band to open for Tool. Eases you into the weirdness and darkness nicely.
With Tool I loved the slow build of the visual aspect, very well done how screens and lights kept increasing and layering in as the set progressed. Highlights musically were Schism and Jambi, which is odd because of all the songs they played those are my "least favorite". I say least favorite very mildly, I still love those songs.
Tool still one of the greatest and most unique bands of all time. I feel really lucky I got the opportunity to see them again.

I am sad they didn't play H.,Lateralus or Third Eye, but that is so minor since I have seen them play those songs before and they played fucking Opiate! I wish I was closer is my biggest regret, but they were amazing. I liked that he asked what you have to do to get beads and that we corrupted him. lol
This is pretty much what last night was like for me.
Got there like 45 mins late, and was shocked when Primus started up before I even found my section. But I booked it and found my seat before the end of the first song. Great night.
Here is an article for some of the random shit that went down in nola and video. Haha. We were too far away to see either the Tool/Primus collaboration happening, the punk our of 3teeth or Maynard in a Tuto. He gave the city about 3 different shout outs.
I saw the tutu, you could see his silhouette really well from where we were sitting. I was wondering about the furries though. I didn't see the collaboration happening either.
EDIT: He made it clear that he wouldn't still be here for Mardi Gras Day. I am not sure if that means they are still in the city now, because no parades until Wednesday.
Also, he didn't put that tutu on until after the intermission. He was wearing the swat gear for the whole show except the encore. CoS can never get their shit correct.
All in all I gotta say I dug the Pensacola Tool performance better as you def get desensitized to them after one show. Nola was still fantastic though. I got really distracted at the beginning of Ions>drums or whatever, as I was above where that dude fell/jumped and could see in the distance cops shining flash lights everywhere, it was super distracting. Longinus was there and said the guy fell on a couple rows of people and that the section cleared out. Dude came to and fought the cops or something. Would love to know more deetz on that shitshow!
Primus was def better in nola than in Pcola. The Danny/Justin sit in during Southbound Pachyderm was prob the top highlight of the weekend in terms of memorable moments.
I really liked the visuals during 46 & 2 when Danny was going off on the drums and it looked like molecules were flying off of him into the symbol on stage.
My big gripe with Tool was them playing their fucking music videos. That was beyond cheesy and really took away from my experience with them. Everyone has seen their videos, it seems stupid to play them on the tour. The best parts of the show were when they had non-distracting pure lighting or ambient visuals like the red sky during Jambi. The drum solo visuals were amazing and they should have focused more on that or just go all out with the Alex Grey projections.
I really dug 3Teeth. I had read so many horrible reviews but it makes sense a bunch of Maynard dickworshippers would hate on a band that sounds like a mildsauce'd Skinny Puppy.
All in all, it was a great weekend. Glad I got to see Tool again, as sonically they blew me away and made me remember why I used to be so into them. Lateralus still stands up as one of the best rock albums ever, and all the older material is still so f'n good. Opiate was my overall highlight, as that is the song that really got me into them.
Got both Primus posters, and Tool pensacola poster, and both the bootleg shirts. All in all a good weekend!

I was in section 313, row 3, directly above the guy that did the superman. There was actually a girl in the front row we thought was going to take the dive due to her basically thrusting with her feet over the railing (and hanging on her man dancing, it was quite entertaining and scary all at the same time). The front two rows saw the dude fall and got us all involved. He was out cold for over 10 mins. I thought he was dead for a couple minutes there, and then when he finally came to, he started swinging at the cops due to his concussion I would assume. It was fucking nuts. From what we heard, he fell. Those seats are so steep, but how do you fall out of the suites? Fucking nuts.
Lady I work with said she was in the row immediately in front of where the guy fell into Section 110. They heard this big thud and turned around to a guy laying across some chairs and 2 screaming ladies who were injured. She said people started calling for medical/EMT and a bunch of people started running over. The cops moved in and told everyone to move out of that area of the section. The dude came to and was apparently flipping out and was arrested (or at least restrained at that point). They dealt with him and came back to administer assistance to the two ladies he fell on. I asked her about them, and she was like, "I don't know. The cops were screaming "go back to your seats" and she and her husband say, "Well you're in our seats" and they went, "Oh." So they went outside to smoke a cigarette and then just came back and didn't care. That's all I could get, but I'm glad that guy didn't fall on her and her husband at least.
