Wow, that is one bad lineup and the order on the poster is a bit head scratching. It doesn't help that I am not a Muse fan and it looks like they blew a big chunk of their budget on that booking. Living in Cinci, I have been to every Bunbury since its start. Its likely this will be the first one that I miss. I guess if the schedule drops with the right combination of artists on a single day I might buy a 1 day pass and check it out in order to keep my streak going but that is going to take some convincing.
Exactly my thoughts. I splurged for VIP last year, this year they will be lucky to get one day out of me.
I get that this message board basically hates any mainstream name but as far as live rap goes, I enjoy G-Eazy (and not just because he's from my hometown). His production has grown with him as he's jumped from playing theaters to arenas, he actually raps every word instead of letting the track do the work for him. He also has enough material to carry a headlining set and will probably bring out special guests since he's topping the bill.
Surely Muse cost a lot of money and that's why the rest of the lineup drops off.
I don't love this lineup but it does have some names that aren't elsewhere, and that's really all you can ask for from a second or third-tier festival is that they bring a different flavor to it. That's what made Shaky Knees stand out the last few years and why their lineup was disappointing this year.
I still think Sasquatch has the worst lineup so far this year.
I saw g easy at Lolla for about 5 minutes and had to leave because I was losing brain cells. Awful show.

The one silver lining is that everybody gets to sing along with his verses on the Fuck Donald Trump remix.

What do you not understand about him rapping every word? Every single word!
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Not much talk on this thread for a while, but the by day lineup comes out Tuesday, just based on other tour dates it should look something like this. I only looked up some of the bands, namely ones I was interested in seeing because I'm thinking about driving up for a day of this festival
Friday - Wiz Khalifa and G-Eazy should be certain based on being booked the other days of the fest, The 1975 is probably Friday, they have a show in Columbus on Saturday so I guess it could be Sunday too but I'm guessing Friday based on some of the bands that will be playing Sunday, The Shins will be on Friday based on other dates and Moon Taxi is probably going to be Friday or Sunday, they are playing at two festivals going on at the same time and I'm guessing Saturday will be their travel day, July Talk lists Friday on their website which is a shame because I was hoping to see them and I could only go Saturday or Sunday, but maybe it's just listed that way b/c that's when the festival starts
Saturday - Bassnectar and Pretty Lights will probably be Saturday based on where the other headliners fall into place and other tour dates. Deathcab could also be Saturday, that one is pure speculation just based on spreading out the lineup, Cobi is listed on Saturday on his website
Sunday - Muse looks certain for Sunday based on other tour dates, as does 30 Seconds to Mars and AFI. I'm hoping Moon Taxi also falls on Sunday and based on those four bands alone that will be the day I would buy a day pass for.
Sunday looks pretty good assuming there aren't too many conflicts. I'll probably get a day pass for that day but they are more expensive than I was hoping. But yeah the other two days, especially Saturday .. woof.
So they are pursuing a pretty interesting strategy here with their schedule, essentially creating themed days based on genre. I imagine this is gonna attract people who otherwise wouldnt go to buy a 1 day pass. The question is does that overcome the amount of people who might have bought a 3 day pass and will now buy a 1 day.
Given the overall poster and my music preferences, there really was no way to make the daily lineups work for me. I guess if I had to pick I would take Friday with Civil-Twilight > MuteMath > The Shins > DCFC and then skip out on G-Easy and Wiz. With my luck, 2 of those will overlap on the schedule. Sun could work if you are a Muse fan (I'm not). At $80-90 per day, I just can't see it. I'm thinking that Nelsonville is a much better deal this year.
It looks like Bunbury has 5-8 fewer acts than in past years. I keep hoping they come up with a few decent adds. Saturday just looks like a wasteland if you aren't into Bassnectar and Pretty Lights.

Well, I won a Friday pass a couple days ago. Haven't got to dig into any of the unknown bands. Any suggestions on who to see? The shins are the only ones that really pop out after a quick look.
