I honestly can't believe so many of you think Ween can play the what stage past 4pm. Their "break-up" did not make them any bigger, I promise. LN What for Ween is even more lol worthy.

So you are telling me that Florence opened for BJ last year and everyone actually thinks that Ween would open for Dead and Co. on Sunday potentially this year? Would Ween really even be booked that high on the billing to be in the running for that slot?

Nope.
nailed it. Plenty of options to open for Dead & Co. that are far more appealing to the masses than Ween.

I honestly have no idea how high they'd be. Seemed earlier when the reunion was announced a lot of people figured they'd be top 10. I don't know too much about them
Dean was probably misquoted/joking. Ween will be opening for the Dead on Sunday and it'll be perfect
By opening for Dead & Co., I assume that means they'll be closing a tent. I can't see them having anywhere near enough draw to play an evening stage set.

There's no way they sniff the top 10 at a festival as big as Bonnaroo. They're 12th on Okeechobee's Lineup, billed right after Fetty Wap.

Ok. Thanks for the clarification. So we're probably looking somewhere around 20 or so on the bill then.

If Fetty Wap ends up headlining Roo do you think Pearl Jam would open up for him or LCD Soundsystem? Or maybe he'll be the first LN Thursday What act.
Wow. Most of these responses regarding Ween are severely disappointing, and dare I say uneducated as well.
I guess that being absent from the music scene for 4 or 5 years is a lifetime in the court of popularity and pop culture. They were never a band that were mainstream - or even in the same universe - and sure, saying that they could nab a 7pm headlining spot at Roo is a huuuuuge stretch. But that "they only have 12 fans," or "they aren't LN worthy" shows how oblivious some of you are to their history & performing abilities. At least a brave handful of you willingly admit that you simply aren't familiar with them... and that's cool, you should definitely check out their discograhy.
From 2003-2010 they sold out a 2,600 capacity venue in my town every single time they came through. Their 3-day reunion residency in CO a few months from now (at a 6,500 capacity venue) immediately sold out all 3 days. They regularly play 3+ hour long, face-melting shows, and are practically Music Gods to a large cross-section of freaks, weirdos, jam-band enthusiasts, and 90's kids.
Again, no, I don't think they'll be in the top 4 or 5 names on the roster. But don't sleep on Ween. IMO they're one of the most talented & musically diverse bands of my generation.

The other day my brother played a really great Ween song. But what I've heard is very hit or miss. Any recommendation?
Disclaimer: I don't know jack shit about Ween other than that a friend played a song of theirs for me years ago, then I randomly downloaded some stuff. I like what I've heard of them but don't by any means know what is representative of their discography. I've probably only heard a bit of it so I don't even know if what I'd recommend would be considered their "good stuff".
That being said, I like the album La Cucaracha. More than The Mollusk and Friends EP at least (the three albums of theirs I've listened to).

They've been been thirteen and fifteen the three times that they've played in the past.

Telling someone where to start is a daunting task, as they basically play every musical style conceivable (aside from perhaps hip-hop), and they essentially have as many b-sides as they do album material.
I would suggest starting with Chocolate & Cheese, and then try out The Mollusk.
Then, if you dig those, just try out any of their other ones. Ween is outsider music, so yeah, you might not enjoy some of it as much as you do others. I think the common consensus is that "The Pod" is the toughest on to listen to due to how lo-fi it is... but they also have a country album (12 Golden Country Greats), a pop album (La Cucaracha), an album recorded during a mushroom haze (Pure Guava), and tons more.

Not that I would know really but is it possible that Ween could play earlier Sunday What and then Dead and Co. as the pre-headliner and then some headliner we don't know yet or even Pearl Jam?
