Last September had Stephen Malkimus and Speedy Ortiz.
The Bo Ningen aftershow last year was nuts. There were very few people (25 or so) but the band was insane.
Totally forgot about that Stephen Malkmus show! There should be at least one official aftershow in that case. UMO are already playing The Sinclair later in the year so they're out. I would love Janelle Monae, but I'm guessing she's billed too high. The Vaccines or Battles would be cool.
And yeah, Bo Ningen are just amazing live. I had to leave that Great Scott show because I forgot my earplugs, but their show to like four people at TT The Bears is one of my all time favorites.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Does this usually sell out for day passes. I think I have a free ticket for Saturday so most likely going to buy a Friday ticket as well, just seeing if I should buy it now.

It could sell out, but judging from the number of posters they've been putting on bulletin boards and such very recently, I'm guessing that they're not anywhere close to selling out. But that's just my guess.
If you're in the immediate Boston area, you can get fee-free tickets at SoWa market on Sundays on Harrison Ave. in the South End.

Some of the aftershow headliners (like Malkmus) played Boston Calling, too, others (like Speedy Ortiz) just did an aftershow and have never played the festival.
So I'm thinking I'm just gonna do Sunday. Mainly for Charles Bradley. Any insights?
Crash Line sent out an e-mail this morning, noting that one-day tickets are in short supply, so you might want to buy now.
Or...
If two and three day passes are still in plentiful supply on festival weekend, they'll obviously be offering additional one-day passes at the gate during the event, once it's apparent that those multiple day passes are going to remain unsold. They're not going to turn people away on Sat or Sun -- especially Sun -- because they previously earmarked a percentage of the tickets for multiple day passes. They want to make money.
It might seem selfish of me to wish for this, but I'm rooting for poor ticket sales and massive walkouts before Disclosure and Robyn/Odesza to send a message to Crash Line that they'll make more money booking the sort of headliners they've had in the past.
If this event puts up lower sales figures than previous events, we'll get Americana and Punk back in the lineup next time.

The Disclosure crowd is going to be massive. I'm not sure you realize how big those two are. Even though it's Sunday, the next day is Memorial Day. The high schoolers will be FLOCKING to this show.

You seem like a miserable person sometimes with posts like this.

You seem pretty butthurt. We all get that you're unhappy with the headliners.

If you leave first I'm sure everyone else will follow.
Not to mention that this will be Disclosure's first Boston show since they got huge. There'll be a crowd. I'd even wager it could be one of their biggest headliner crowds

What would be so bad about Boston's only big music festival presenting as stylistically diverse a lineup as possible every year? Nothing wrong with having a hardcore EDM or pop headliner every year, but three nights in a row? Rock and roll couldn't headline just one of the three nights?
(I'm calling it now, if 10K people walked out after Hozier, right before the Alabama Shakes played, a lot more people are walking out on Disclosure. You claim that they're big; I'm claiming that Lorde and Sam Smith are big and without the guest vocalists who drive them up the charts, there's going to be a lot less interest.)

They sold out the MSG show I went to and it had neither Lorde or Sam Smith.
We get it BTW, you like "rock", and don't like dance or pop music.
Also, did you complain in previous years when all 3 headliners were "rock" acts? Or is diversity only important when it's NOT rock music?
But they always had a lot of musical diversity under the broader banner of "rock." No one would accuse Alabama Shakes, Alt-J, or Avett Brothers of sounding anything like one another.
By definition, EDM has a narrower stylistic range -- it's electronic dance music -- than a broader genre which includes everything from Billy Joel to Slayer.
To my ears, EDM is so different from the rest of popular music that I think of it the same way I think of opera or polka: something which may be musically valid, but is so different in vibe and substance from the rest of popular music that I consider it no more appropriate for a popular music festival than opera or polka would be.
Of course, your mileage may vary.

The thing is, Sia sounds nothing like Disclosure and neither of them sound anything like Robyn.
