Very nice. Ya, I love the way their current stage set up progresses throughout the show.
I picked up tickets to their show in Idaho in just under 3 weeks, excited to see them again. Think this will be number 8?
This was only my second time actually seeing them live so I only could compare it to the epic 2007 Bonnaroo set that I saw.
At first I was like "Really? This is it?" in terms of stage show/lights and extras. But with each song another piece was introduced and then halfway through the set it felt right with everything firing on all cylinders.
They delivered and I can't wait for this weekend when I see them again. It's easy to jump into all the gimmicks that bands use to level up to the next phase but Tool just killed it all around.
Oh damn, I didn't realize you hadn't seen them since Bonnaroo '07! Awesome that you get to see them again this tour.
Were you kinda far back to take in the whole show for BC? If so, does the Gov Ball schedule allow you to get a close spot for Tool? I love Tool from the soundboard area, bc you get to take in the full effect. But seeing them up close is a different experience. If you have to pick a side, go with the right side and watch Justin/Danny. Seeing those 2 lock in the groove, so fantastic. Justin's such a riff monster.
I had the same reaction the first time I saw them with the evolving stage set up.
"Really? They had a much more elaborate stage last time I saw them."
Cut to 2 hours later, and all misgivings were forgotten
Edit: Wait, if Bonnie liked Tool, does that mean beebee enjoyed Tool as well?

Edit: Wait, if Bonnie liked Tool, does that mean beebee enjoyed Tool as well?
I think beebee enjoyed them as an act but wasn't completely "won over" like Bonnie was.
I was basically in the middle of the tool set. I realized my plan of getting up close mid-day wasn't as possible as I expected. So I planned on being as close to the rail (VIP Rail) that I could be on the right of the main stage. Similar to Roo, this festival kept certain sides of the two main stages as "pit area" for the VIP members. The right side was the main stage so my plan was to get on the rail (or close) for the mIn set. So behind the VIP but on the rail for GA who didn't choose to go into the main area. It worked out that I was in that area but not the front row.

it does not. i was quickly reminded just a few songs in of the guys from the schism video that creeped me out in middle school. i did enjoy sitting in the back of the field eating ice cream, and witnessing bonnie's transformation after the show.
I was as shocked as you are Rothric . Seriously. We took our time post Weezer to make our way to the main stage, so we got there about a half of a song in and were really far back. A song or two later, I go "I think I want to move up closer!" and beebee responds with, "I think I want to move further back." haha LD , ilovethisgame , and I kept moving up closer throughout the show. It truly was a great, great show. Like Bee alluded to, I couldn't stop talking about it that night. I was running my mouth so much that Cokes somehow heard me in the crowd on the way out and found us. I even grabbed a last minute Tool poster on the way out. Luckily they weren't sold out! I think I was riding the post-show high even through yesterday.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Ha, I love that Cokes found you in the crowd like that.
Now that you're a Tool fan, you can join the never ending wait for the next Tool album with the rest of us. It's been 10 years so far...but it's going to come out this year! (People have been saying that for half a decade at this point).
I can just imagine Beebee looking you and responding with that. "Uh, ya. I think I'd rather eat ice cream and think about Cheezits."

Yeah, and we don't even know each other that well, so that especially shows how much of a loud mouth I can be. haha.
And we had multiple conversations about cheez-its this weekend. Plans for cheez-it nachos were discussed. Next year!
