No thread for this yet, so I figured I'd give it a go.
Does anyone have any news regarding next year's fests? They've been fairly quiet lately, but with other fests releasing lineups early I'm hoping we start getting some info. Either from artists' tour dates or from the fest itself.
I'm relatively optimistic about the May fest so I'll kick things off with another mock. Headliners and Pond are probably the least realistic parts of this.
The Strokes • Bon Iver • Lana Del Ray Sleater-Kinney • The Lumineers • HAIM • Cage the Elephant • Chance the Rapper The Kills • The Tallest Man On Earth • Sylvan Esso • Mac Demarco • Christine and the Queens Dawes • Pond • Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats • Raury • Elle King The Struts • Lady Lamb • Sun Club • Quilt • Palehound
Friday: The Strokes Sleater-Kinney Pond
Saturday: Bon Iver HAIM Cage the Elephant The Tallest Man On Earth Mac Demarco Dawes Raury Elle King Lady Lamb Palehound
Sunday: Lana Del Ray The Lumineers Chance the Rapper The Kills Sylvan Esso Christine and the Queens Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats The Struts Sun Club Quilt
I'm not expecting much. I doubt Sleater-Kinney will do another go around after their Australia tour, but I would love that Friday.
I've been wondering what their plans are. I don't see them just ending again, but a lengthy break from touring is definitely foreseeable.. I'm seeing them next week so they were just on my mind when I was making the mock.
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds could fill that spot too

Same. I could see SK making another album which would be awesome.
I dunno about Noely G either. Looks like his tour ends at a logical conclusion at the end of April. He's lazy and already been touring behind his latest since April or May.
It would be cool to see Boston Calling book britpop acts like The Charlatans (who sadly missed Boston on their last NA tour), Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, etc. That being said I'd rather them have their own headlining shows so I'd be fine if they didn't play Boston Calling haha.
Forecastle got RA... Would be awesome if he played Boston Calling!
He was my other option for that Sleater-Kinney spot. I'd given up hope that he'd be active next summer but now I'm super excited that he might be at BC and/or Roo
Stupid Mac Demarco tour dates point to him being at Sasquatch and skipping Boston:
05-12 Philadelphia, PA - Electric Factory 05-16 New York, NY - Webster Hall 05-19 Los Angeles, CA - Greek Theatre 05-21 San Francisco, CA - Warfield 05-22 Santa Cruz, CA - Rio Theater 05-25 Portland, OR - Roseland Theater 05-27 Vancouver, British Columbia - Malkin Bowl

Around half a dozen acts, I think, flew cross-country last may and did both Sasquatch and Boston Calling the same weekend. In fact, appearing on the Sasquatch lineup could be a sign that someone is doing Boston Calling.
With Forecastle, Firefly, and a few other lineups already announced, we're getting an indication of who's on the festival circuit in 2016.
It occurred to me that while Boston Calling has brought back a few bands for a second appearance, they're more likely to bring in acts they haven't yet booked than repeat acts, especially headliners. (Aaron Dessner's involvement with Crashline Productions makes The National an exception to the rule).
With this in mind, here's a list of mid-tier and headline acts who have been announced on a 2016 lineup, haven't announced a large local headlining date after March, and haven't yet played Boston Calling (I'm skipping acts who are likely to big to headline...i.e., if they'd play Fenway or the Garden, they're likely too large for BC). I'm betting that a lot of these show up in May or September:
Ryan Adams Gary Clark, Jr. Grouplove Shakey Graves Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness Speedy Ortiz Disclosure Blink-182 A$AP Rocky Fitz & the Tantrums Fetty Wap Ludacris Catfish & the Bottlemen Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats Elle King Saint Motel The Wombats The Struts Circa Waves Tedeschi Trucks Band Skrillex Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters Ween Big Grams (Big Boi & Phantogram) Mac Miller Grace Potter Dr. Dog X Ambassadors

Looks like Courtney Barnet has some shows in the midwest in late April. I've somehow missed here every time she's come to town, so it'd be great to get her on the lineup!

I was very much expecting her on the lineup last year but she ended up starting her tour in Boston a couple weeks before the fest. Same thing happened with Haim the year before. Both of them need to end up at BC sometime soon
So, The National just announced a North Adams, MA show on June 11. It's far enough away to not trigger any exclusivity clause (and even if it's not far enough away, I'd assume that any contract The National signs with Crashline may contain terms more favorable to the band than the festival's standard contract terms, because of Aaron Dessner's involvement with both parties.)
Since The National didn't do either 2015 edition, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they did one of the Boston Calling 2016 editions, although it might be preferable if everyone involved realized that booking one headliner three times in four years isn't fair to regular attendees who'd like to see many different headliners over the course of a few years.

No they'll play in 2017 once their next album comes out. Three times at the same fest, even one you helped found, on one album is a little much.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

all one times?
At least twice. She played a great coheadlining show with Benjamin Booker at the Sinclair in 2014
I'm not familiar with Son Little, but he (they?) is opening for Leon Bridges at the Wang in March.
He opened for Hurray for the Riff Raff earlier this year and kind of sucked. I'm surprised he's as popular as he is.
I like his song "The River" but don't know if I've listened to much else. I think it ended up on my Roo playlist this year because he had a cafe set and the song caught my ear. I could see him being not great live
