I'm enjoying this conversation about diversity of tastes and festival lineups. I did not buy tickets, but agree that I would have been disappointed to buy early bird tickets before the lineup came out, only to have the festival flavor pivot so much.
The only thing the lineup is missing in terms of diversity is a a more rock/alt/americana act in the top couple acts. I get that. Replacing Disclosure or Odesza with someone like The Strokes (Who I've been pushing for years) or Wilco would obviously be an improvement. But otherwise we still have a lot of acts that aren't pop or EDM. Also wouldn't complain if The Vaccines were replaced w/ someone better, but that's personal preference.
Something to think about though: There aren't a ton of touring alt-rock acts of the right size to headline and pre-headline BC that haven't done so already in its short lifespan.

Besides The Strokes and Wilco, I could see Blink-182, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, System Of A Down, The Flaming Lips, and Ryan Adams as possible headliners.
And you could put one of around fifty punk/pop/emo bands in the 2nd line, similar to the Brand New booking. Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, etc. You could also go for an old guard throwback in that spot with Chrissie Hynde, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, Blondie, Elvis Costello, etc.
The apartment I had booked for this had to cancel on me, which is a bummer, but it looks like hotel prices in the area aren't even that bad. Looks like I'll be staying at The Ames, can't beat that location.

Yea, none of our top 3 really writes music about "good times".
All this conversation does is reinforce the obvious fact that you've never listened to these acts and have zero clue what you're going on about. This is an incredibly diverse lineup, you're just not educated enough on the artists to understand that.
Do you enjoy talking down to people and pretend like you're some kind of music elitist? Guess what? Everyone has a different taste in music and just because they don't particularly like the genre of music you like doesn't mean you have the right to talk down to them. It's not necessary nor appropriate.

Oh blow it out your ass, I'm pointing out that if you haven't even listened to a certain artist you have zero ability to talk about what their music is like.
That doesn't make me an elitist, that makes me logical. I don't care if you don't like a genre, but you're not allowed to act like an expert on that genre if you obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

Are you this miserable of a person in real life? I get your point, but you don't need to attack people and be so rude about it.

I'd like evidence of me attacking anyone in this thread.

Questioning everything tw12 that reads like you're actively trying to put him down and attack his personal tastes/beliefs, even if you had a point. You also mocked me back in the Mountain Jam thread for saying that Jason Isbell was "up and coming talent" when he was new to me, having been out of the music world for a little while due to my son who was born with a heart condition..
Whatever, it's not really worth the trouble at this point.

Why respond to a troll? Replying is what they want, without attention they die. Let the troll die.

Letting you know that Jason Isbell isn't a new artist is in no way mocking you... I feel you might be overly sensitive, and there's no need to bring your personal issues into this conversation as ammunition.

My personal issues? It provides context and insight to why I said the things I said. But you probably wouldn't understand, as you seem like one of the most insensitive people I've ever read online. But you know what? Fuck you. My son passed away in October, so yes, I have personal issues but I'm working that out. Try being a little more sensitive to people's opinions and let people have a chance to defend their opinions, whether you agree with them or not. That's all - sorry for the derail everyone, but her attitude really ticked me off.
That's the last time I'll bring up my personal issues here, because to be quite frank, it doesn't concern you.

She is really bad at making logical arguments, just check the political thread for more proof. If she is losing she will just change the argument to something else or attack the poster personally. She is a very talented troll and can really get under your skin with how moronic her arguments are. I can't believe I'm saying this, but emoney (master troll himself) is right, don't feed the troll.

I'm sorry for your loss, but you brought your family into this, not me. In fact I said you shouldn't do that. I haven't said anything about them and I won't, cause like you said it's not my concern.
I've said nothing insensitive, so I fail to see how you would get that impression. Telling you Jason Isbell isn't a new artist does not warrant this kind of anger,.
You people have no idea what a troll is. I have very real very personal friendships on this board, I hang out with people from this board. Again, you don't know what a troll is.
She isn't a troll, I'm not sure why that word is being thrown around. I'd rather just drop it at this point, it's been too much of a derail and nothing I say will change things. Sorry all.

It's likely that your hotel room will be closer to the Red Stage and the Comedy Stage than the main gates are. You'll still have to walk around the block to get to the gates to enter, but the back exits are right near your hotel.

I ended up booked at the Omni instead, which is only a block away from City Hall, thankfully. The Ames is a great hotel and I've stayed there a couple times for other things, but I found too good a deal elsewhere.

That's super close, too, and the Omni Parker House is the birthplace of both the Parker House Roll and Boston Cream Pie, so there's that.
Speaking of food, if there are any of you on the vegetarian side, practically next to that hotel and a long block from the festival site is Clover Food Labs at 27 School St, the side street bordering the big Walgreens (formerly Borders). Reasonably priced and so good that meat-eaters like me go there when they're in the mood for meat-free fare. Forget about Falafel King on Washington, which reheats pre-made falafel, go to Clover where they fry it fresh for each order. (NOTE: They call it chickpea fritter at Clover, but it's falafel.)
As far as food goes (and beer), I like to grab some poutine or a sandwich from Saus, which is right across the street from the main entrance. It always looks packed, but the line moves quickly. They have a great beer selection and you can enjoy a nice craft beer for less than the price of the shitty sam adams inside while eating some delicious food and be back in the festival without even missing a full set.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Saus has great, great Belgian fries, and other good stuff, too. Very limited seating, though. If you want to skip an act and get off your feet at a nearby establishment for awhile, you might have to wait for a table.
