I'm so proud of them. Something to think about: none of the top acts so far are River artists. I think we might still be in for the three headliners tomorrow
Other thing to thing about...with the third stage, there are going to be way more than 21-23 acts.
I wouldn't count on many nationally touring acts from elsewhere on the small stage, though. My guess is that it will be some sort of mix of Passim folkies and the local bands who play Great Scott a lot.
Still, having another option if you don't like what's on Red or Blue at the moment is very cool.

Sufjan Stevens is a "River Artist."
I was a pretty loyal River fan when I still lived in MA and I don't think I ever heard him, but he does fit their vibe
If we have our headliners, I'm still more than happy with this lineup. We'll have to wait for tomorrow to see what else they have for us. Because again, we're still 3 shy of 23, which has been the number of artists the last couple of fests
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Again, somebody or something is playing the third stage, so we're looking at somewhere around 40 acts over the three days, but mainly local ones on the third stage.
If you'll be near Portsmouth, NH, check out The Friendly Toast for great breakfast and non-breakfast foods. They do some wild combinations of things, and their locations are decked out with off the wall 50's - 70's memorabilia.
They've also got a Cambridge, MA location and are opening in the Back Bay tomorrow.
friendly toast cambridge is the best brunch in town
What is the set up for this festival like? Setting, structure of stages, etc?
The names that have leaked have me really really wanting to make the trek up there for this.
Hard to guess what the structure of stages will be because they're adding a third stage. It used to be two stages sort of perpendicular to each other and bands would switch off one from the other with no breaks and no overlap. On Friday, it's just been three artists on one stage in the evening.
Setting is about as bland as you can get, because it's in the middle of Boston right next to city hall. Just brick and concrete ground with big gray buildings all around. They try to dress it up at night with some fun lights on the wall of City Hall though
What you see listed as Xfinity Lounge is likely the new location of the third stage.
Key thing to note is that the two main stages are right near each other and there's only one active stage at a time. The new third stage will provide some options, but this isn't the kind of fest (like most) where you look at a schedule and decide which of three or four or six acts you want to catch at any given time. This is more like going to a restaurant, asking for a menu, and being told, "You'll eat what you're served."
The good thing about the location is that it's right in the heart of downtown Boston and on Saturday and Sunday, you can come and go as you please with your wristband, so you can grab a bite to eat offsite if there's an act you can't bear to sit through.

Forgot to mention this great benefit. My family and I (who all go together) have made a habit of packing sandwiches and a cooler of beer and leaving it in our car in the parking garage and choosing one artist each day to head back and eat during. This year I'm guessing the Front Bottoms will almost definitely be one of those
Well I was wrong about headliners, but this still looks great. A bunch of artists I'm not seeing anywhere else. Could personally go for a bit more rock and folk, but this is so fantastic I don't want to ask for more

Pretty meh seeing Disclosure and Odesza so high. Pretty rad seeing Sia and Robyn headline.
Sia, Robyn, Sufjan, Haim, Janelle Monae, Courtney Barnett, Charles Bradley, The Vaccines, Vince Staples, Battles, UMO, and local dude Michael Christmas who killed it opening for Action Bronson and Chance the Rapper last year. Super solid and, more importantly, pretty unique.

My thoughts exactly.
Any chance of guests with Disclosure? Maybe Lorde wants to show her face again?

This lineup is really a complete 180 from past Boston Calling lineups. A lot of stuff worth seeing, but wouldn't have guessed in a million years to see Disclosure and Odesza.

This is my favorite lineup so far and has more artists on it that I'm interested in seeing than Bonnaroo. I do have a few artists I need to check out but I'm buying a ticket Friday.

Its pretty on-par with September 2014 which was perhaps more diverse genre-wise. The Replacements, Lorde, Nas x The Roots, The National, Girl Talk (though they cancelled), Neutral Milk Hotel, etc.
It is a complete 180 from last September's hot garbage.

Should be interesting to see how they arrange the day-by-day lineups. Traditionally they've lumped genres together a bit. Disclosure and Odesza likely would be different days, but I'm curious if Odesza ends up closing a day like most EDM acts do.
Hey Delicious Meatball Sub, your local to DC right? Do you happen to know if Sweetlife is happening this year? This is looking pretty great. But I would like to compare the two.
Haven't heard, but seems early for that.
Doubt it'll be this good. Festivals at Merriweather are a mess, and Sweetlife is expensive.
This is not the type of lineup I expected and it's not really my style but I'm still stoked to have a great time and check out some artists I would have never otherwise seen. I probably wouldn't have bought full price tickets knowing this lineup, but the presale price makes it definitely worth it.
Yeah, after second thought and closer inspection of the full lineup, this doesn't look like my cup of tea. There's a few artists I'd really enjoy (Sufjan, Haim, Charles Bradley and Courtney Barnett), but not enough to justify a three-day, or even a single-day pass. I'm glad I didn't already buy tickets through presale.
I'm curious to see what the general public will think of this lineup, as this is very eclectic compared to what they've usually gotten.

Stuff like Odesza, Disclosure, and Sia will sell it to the younger teen/college/twenty-something crowd. I'd imagine the older crowd that's always present will be less noticeable, but I cant imagine it selling worse than last September.
I'm so glad bands don't conflict at this fest. This is just what I needed to cheer me up from that dump Bonnaroo has.
I'd rather have choice, just like most festivals offer. Different people have different tastes in music, and not everyone digs everything. I detest EDM and dance pop and would love to have something else to check out on another stage when this May's headliners perform.
