I'm sure this has been asked somewhere deep in the depths of this thread, but whatever:
Where do I need to eat in Boston?
You can't go wrong with...
The Friendly Toast in Kendall Sq. Cambridge and Back Bay (A lot of offbeat takes on breakfast foods, sandwiches, burgers, comfort foods, and more, with retro/kitsch decor.)
The Smoke Shop in Kendall Sq. Cambridge (BBQ and fried chicken. Their hot BBQ sauce is amazing.)
All-Star Sandwich Bar in Inman Sq. Cambridge
J.P. Curley in Downtown Crossing, Boston (best burger in town, lot of good comfort food/gastropub choices.)
Pizzeria Regina, original North End location
Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage, Harvard Sq. (The owner's a character, like the Soup N*** from Seinfeld, but really great burgers here.)
I've heard really good things about Little Donkey in Central Square (near Harvard Square), but haven't gotten there yet.
Mr. Bartley's is a must if you're looking for a good burger. Excellent choices
"Hot off their international tour, Mumford and Sons is taking their talent to Royale for their first ever DJ set in the US! Mumford and Sons will be joining us right after hopping off stage for a can't miss top-40 set for over 1,000 screaming fans"
I'm hoping for Mac DeMarco or Deerhoof on Fri. and Danny Brown on Sat.

holy fuuuuuck is this for real?
I want to go to this just to see how terrible it will actually be.
Danny Brown at the Sinclair would be rad. Hoping for Wolf Parade aftershow too.
bonzai and I had tickets to go see one of the Mumford guys do a DJ set after their Governors of the Road stopover in Maine years ago, but when we got there, there was nothing happening and no one around. It was bizarre.

I TOTALLY forgot about that!!! I think it was Ben Lovett. It was at an art gallery and like Katy said, there were only a handful of people. We didn't stay very long. Obviously.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I cannot believe this is real. I for sure thought that was a lame joke. I supposed Mumford is now that lame joke.

In.
For real though, what if Mumford just comes out and drops a rad house set?

That 10 pm start time can't be right, if the BC headliners continue to wrap up around 11 pm. I'd bet that there's some sort of opener and the Sons (No Mumford) start greasing those wheels of steel around midnight.

Something just occurred to me (here it comes...another tw12 theory)
At some festivals, don't one or two acts go on after the headliner, usually on a smaller stage? Maybe Mumford's festival set will run 8-9:30 with The xx taking the Green stage at 9 or 9:30 pm in a post-headlining position, which would get M&S to the Royale closer to 10 than an 11 pm wrap-up would allow. (Perhaps the neighborhood concerns about noise are prompting them to wrap up at 10 or 10:30 instead of 11).
Why would Crash Line do this, especially at a festival much smaller than the ones which usually have a late night, post-headliner component?
Boston Calling is encouraging people to walk JFK street from Harvard Square to the athletic complex, rather than encourage people to hop the bus lines which run through Allston and intersect with a few green line branches. (I suppose this is to keep loud crowds away from the residential neighborhoods bordering the complex, after the day wraps up.)
Even if they close JFK St. to traffic so that people can walk both sidewalks and in the street, 30,000 people will still create a huge log jam during that quarter-mile walk back to Harvard Square, especially if most everyone leaves at once.
But what if there's a post-headlining set on the Green stage or in the Comedy Thunderdome which ends 45 min to an hour after the "headliner." This would help reduce the number of people spawning upstream to Harvard Square at once.
I could see the same thing happening on Friday night with Bon Iver or Sigur Ros post-headlining the Green Stage, or Eugene Mirman going late in the Thunderdome. Same with Major Lazer on Sunday night (Maybe they won't need to do a post-headliner on Sunday night, since Tool is bound to be too heavy for a lot of people, prompting some early departures.)
That 10 pm start time can't be right, if the BC headliners continue to wrap up around 11 pm. I'd bet that there's some sort of opener and the Sons (No Mumford) start greasing those wheels of steel around midnight.
Well let it be said it's 10PM doors and it runs to 2am. and it's also only 2 of the 'Sons', they end at 11, get there by like 1130/12?
Is anyone trying to just do Sunday? Something came up and I won't be able to stay for it, so if anyone wants my wristband Saturday night it's yours, free.

Yes, I'd appreciate it! I'm actually going to Friday and Saturday, but I can extend my Boston trip for one more day.

Did you buy day passes yet? We can just trade if that makes it easier.

Yeah, I bought it a few weeks ago. Sure, I know it's pretty early to plan, but we can do that on Friday then, before we get in to the festival? Thanks again!

Really, is it a good idea to sell beans at a crowded music festival?
Shocked to see Firefly's on there. Not shocked to see Tasty Burger and Roxy's. Both overpriced for what they are.
A few quick takes...
*FoMu is a nice option for vegans and the lactose-intolerant, but how do you not have real ice cream at a festival this size? Shameful.
*I wish they had upgraded the pizza vendors (the Stoked Pizza truck would have been nice.) However, while a good english muffin pizza can't compare to a good actual pizza, Stone & Skillet muffins are the best english muffins I've ever had, so...
*Similarly, I wish they had upgraded the burgers. So many better options than Tasty Burger (who can shine when they do specials, which they don't do much any more. Their more basic burgers -- the one's they're selling here -- are no better than Burger King or Wendy's.)
*Regardless of where you buy your food, if it would be upgraded by a great hot sauce, work your way over to the Smoke Shop and discreetly pour some of their hot sauce on whatever you've got. It's so much more than a simple BBQ sauce.
