True, it's not like they didn't book any acts which could play Newport or Riot Fest, they just didn't book the ones that I personally like the most. Maybe I just lucked out in 2014 and 2015, as opposed to the two latest editions.
But, if ticket sales aren't as strong as they'd like, it couldn't have hurt to sell more tickets by including a couple of acts that skew a bit older...like Paul Simon, who's headlining at Eaux Claires. And their folkish acts are the least country-skewing ones they could have booked. Would it have killed them to book Margo Price? If you're not selling as many tickets as you'd like, you need to look at your line-up and add what's not there or what's not plentiful. If there are any more cancellations, they should use that opportunity to broaden the booking a bit, not book yet another local metal/math-rock band.
Honestly, as soon as Illinois becomes a legalization state, I'm moving to Chicago. Lollapalooza, Riot Fest, Pitchfork, 6+ Wilco shows per year, great pizza, great public transportation.
Sure, if you like taxes on your taxes. And the public trans isn't actually that good.

Couldn't be worse than Boston, on either count.
It actually is. Cook County has the highest cumulative taxes in the nation, and the El is the only public trans worth riding here. And even then I'm being generous.

I'd rather pay higher taxes and lower rent. The greater Boston area has the third highest apartment rental average after NYC and the Bay Area/Silicon Valley. Chicago may not be as cheap as Des Moines, but it's cheaper to live there than in Boston. (Not being a property owner nor an automobile owner, I get to miss out on some of those taxes you mention.)

Eh. Living in the city for 18 years has led me to believe that it's the last place I 'd want to be.
Bummed he's on Friday because odds are that day will be too stacked with music for me.
Hannibal, Tig, and Kate Berlant & John Early are ones I'm definitely going to try for
Wish Hannibal could have gotten Eric Andre in on this, but it's great nonetheless
Oh yeah, Eric Andre would be perfect for this.
As talented as a lot of these comedians are, and they've gotten some really good ones, you need comedians who can make themselves seen and heard over the bleed through from the music stages. This isn't the place for laid-back observational humor delivered in a conversational tone. If you can't turn it up to 11, you shouldn't be telling jokes at a music festival.
i'm so happy about this after bumming about missing the bonnaroo comedy lineup. if it fits into my schedule, i'd like to see eugene mirman, hannibal, phoebe robinson, tig notaro and kate berlant and john early. what a nice surprise.

There's the chance it might be indoors. Since it's replacing the "film experience," which definitely would have had to be inside somewhere, that seems like the best way to separate it from the music.

The Bright-Landry Center (hockey) seems likely. Right next to the green stage.
EDIT: CoS claims that's where it will be. Taken with a quarry-sized grain of salt.

Wow this comedy lineup is much more preferable than some film experience. Hannibal during Mumford would be perfect. I'm not counting on seeing any of those Friday acts since that day is crazy.

Oh, it'll definitely be indoors, but there may still be sound bleed through. I went to grad school at Syracuse and the library in which I did most of my studying was right next door to the Carrier Dome. When there was a concert there, you heard everything in the library.
Not that it likely could have happened this year, since T&E are doing their own anniversary tour which is doing two nights in Boston, but I'd love some of that Adult Swim/Absolutely Productions vibe in the comedy lineup: Tim & Eric, the aforementioned Eric Andre, Neil Hamburger, DJ Dougpound, John C. Reilly as Steve Brule, etc.
I'm sure this has been asked somewhere deep in the depths of this thread, but whatever:
Where do I need to eat in Boston?
Depends on what you like and what your price range is. If you like beer and seafood, one of my favorite places in the city is Row 34. There are a ton of good places that I can recommend if you tell me what you're looking for.

Actually, now that you mention it pretty much anything not seafood related (gf is allergic to shellfish, great choice to go to Boston I know). I don't mind paying a little bit, just not like five star five course expensive

The brunch at the Four Seasons is one of the best dining experiences I've had. Also, go to The North End and walk around until you find one of the 100 Italian joints to sit down at, my fav is La Summa, but im not exaggerating about there being 100 of them.

When I saw him post his question, my first thought was that it's too bad it's not still at City Plaza just for the fact that there are so many great restaurants in the North End. I have no idea what's in the area of the fest now.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

They don't even have to be in that area, honestly. We're skipping out on Sunday to just walk around and explore, so these tasty finds can be anywhere. Once again, just no seafood. I'd prefer to not have my gf die on this trip.

You can't go wrong with...
The Friendly Toast in Kendall Sq. Cambridge and Back Bay (A lot of offbeat takes on breakfast foods, sandwiches, burgers, comfort foods, and more, with retro/kitsch decor.)
The Smoke Shop in Kendall Sq. Cambridge (BBQ and fried chicken. Their hot BBQ sauce is amazing.)
All-Star Sandwich Bar in Inman Sq. Cambridge
J.P. Curley in Downtown Crossing, Boston (best burger in town, lot of good comfort food/gastropub choices.)
Pizzeria Regina, original North End location
Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage, Harvard Sq. (The owner's a character, like the Soup N*** from Seinfeld, but really great burgers here.)
I've heard really good things about Little Donkey in Central Square (near Harvard Square), but haven't gotten there yet.
