Its so painful seeing Chance vs. Sigur Ros and Mumford not conflicting with anyone. Just seems... so wrong. Good aftershow Saturday night please.
Friday: Vundabar > Xylouris White/Lucy Dacus > half of Whitney > Deerhoof > Sylvan Esso > Solange > end of Mac > most of Bon > first half of Chance/end of Sigur Ros
Saturday: Kevin Morby > Strands of Oak > Moses Sumney > Cousin Stizz > Danny Brown > Tegan and Sara > Hannibal > The XX > I guess some of Mumford
Sunday: The Hotelier > Hiss Golden Messenger > Mitski > Converge > Flatbush Zombies > Piebald > Wolf Parade > I guess Weezer?
As someone who puts generally puts rap low on the totem pole of music, this schedule is pretty good for me. I am upset about the Car Seat Headrest vs Sylvan Esso confict. CSH is in the mix of conflicts for me tomorrow at Shaky Knees and I was depending on seeing CSH at BC to help. Maybe not. Harumph. Sigur Ros and Bon Iver are top of the list for me that I wanted to get close for, but I won't be able to be close for both. I guess I can't complain because at least I will be able to see full sets of both.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Let me ask you this then, any good bars (preferably with a good selection of beers) close to the venue?
The holy grail of beer selections is Sunset Grill and Tap in Allston, which is a short taxi or bus ride away. The have literally hundreds of beers on draft and in bottle. Big place, reasonably priced. Should be just far enough from the festival grounds that it doesn't get crazy busy, but it's always moderately busy on weekends and evenings

the 2 hours of mumford vs. 90 minutes of tool is a travesty.
Yup, totally. Though Tool will probably only play 1 hour and 45 minutes on their standalone shows, so 90 minutes will still be solid.
It's a shame I'm not in New England this year after having attended all prior editions, since the schedule works out well conflict-wise if I were to attend.
Solange > Bon Iver > Sigur Ros is solid, but hopefully the crowd will be civilized and attentive during the latter two, since it'll be harder to get good spots for both Bon Iver and Sigur Ros if you stick with Solange till the end.
The xx not being in the dark is lame AF, but 75 minutes is basically what they'd play on non-festival shows.
Sunday is all about that TOOL. Given that weed is now legalized in Mass, hope security is pretty chill with all y'all blazing up.

Friday: Vundabar > Lucy Dacus > Hoof it to part of Deerhoof if I'm feeling ambitious; if not, Whitney > Francis & the Lights > Sylvan Esso (bummed about missing CSH, but SE is way up on my list) > Stay at red stage for Bon Iver, but hopefully be able to listen to Solange from there > Bon Iver > Sigur Ros OR Chance, depending on my mood at that point
Saturday: Alexandra Savior > Kevin Morby > Strand of Oaks > Moses Sumney > Oh Wonder > Brandi Carlile > Tegan & Sara > Eat/maybe catch Hannibal Buress > The xx > Mumford & Sons
Sunday: Hiss Golden Messenger > Mitski > Eat > Beginning of Flatbush Zombies > Frightened Rabbit > Wolf Parade > Cage the Elephant > Major Lazer OR Weezer, depending on my mood > Tool
My biggest conflict fear was Oh Wonder/Brandi Carlile/Tegan & Sara, so I'm pretty pumped about how that turned out - I was sure I wouldn't get to see full sets of all three, but I can!

I'm satisfied with this. Friday was the only day I was worried about; it'll suck to miss Sigur Ros but oh well. Sylvan Esso vs Car Seat Headrest is a motherfucker though.
Sylvan esso is the right choice
We'll see, I've seen them twice but haven't seen CSH. If it were just me I'd see csh but I'll be with friends who would probably prefer sylvan esso so who knows.

Sigur Ros is the easy choice after having seen both Sigur Ros and Chance last fall.
Sigur Ros at Academy of Music was one of the best sets Ive ever seen though so its hard to compare. I waa hoping to see Chances new show (since his Meadows show was corny) but oh well

I haven't seen chance since 2013...basically right after acid rap came out and he was relatively unknown and unpolished. I wasn't really impressed with him as he was running around stage and yelling and out of breath for the verses to the point that he sounded terrible. I want to see him 4 years later to see how much he has improved. But I wanted to check out Sigur Ros since I haven't seen them ever...but at the same time I don't really listen to their music. I'll probably make a game time decision, but I'm leaning heavily towards chance.

Yeah Im a huge Sigur Ros fan (p much all their albums) so that obviously is playing into my decision

For me, Car Seat Headrest vs. Eugene Mirman is the motherquacker (with Nathaniel Rateliff vs. Hannibal Buress on Sat. not far behind).
No Sigur Ros for me, either. Happy to say that I'm now more interested in the Bon Iver > Chance stretch, since seeing clips of Bon Iver from Coachella and being presently surprised that his festival set seemed to be louder and more sonicallly adventurous than I expected.
There's a lot of opportunity to check out acts buffet style, catching half of one set, all of another, then someone else's last two songs.
The conflicts may not be fun, but they're better than "You'll eat what we serve, and you'll like it."
As I anticipated, Saturday is my leave-early-and-get-some-rest day, since Sunday will be longer than long. (Thankfully, I picked up a couple of free bottles of Extra Strength 5 Hour Energy at the Harvard Square Mayfair. One for Friday, one for Sunday. That's Boston Calling first aid, to me.)

Their rules don't reference vaping, so who knows? Either way, there's no way they'll know if that's a cough drop you're popping into your mouth or a THC lozenge. #LowerBackPainHasItsPrivileges
