It's normal, but the schedule has never mattered before. There was 0 guessing involved after they would release the day-by-day breakdown. Now the fest could go very wrong for me if it's scheduled poorly

Maybe they'll hold out in the case there are riots over the conflicts. Less time to hear people bitch about it and have to backtrack or make adjustments.

Yep Friday is worrisome, but they'd have to fuck up the rest of the weekend pretty hard to make it not work for my personal taste. Just give me Hannibal against Mumford, no Wolf Parade against RTJ, and we all good.
Also have fun at Pond tomorrow. They sounded excellent, as always, last night.
At the very least, there is still re-entry, so if they fuck us all over for a block we can all go get a slightly cheaper beer down the street.
As an aside, if anyone wants recommendations for anything in the area, let me know. I have spent an inordinate amount of time and money in Harvard Square and the Allston Triangle >_>

Let me ask you this then, any good bars (preferably with a good selection of beers) close to the venue?
Boston Calling has just released an official video with tips, suggestions, and rules for travel to and from the site.
BTW, this upcoming weekend will be the third straight weekend during which some portion of the "north of the Charles" Red Line has been shut down with shuttle buses replacing subway service. I'd like to think that they're wise enough to not do that during the festival, but they shut down Park Street to Kendall Red Line service last summer during a weekend which included the free Outside The Box Boston festival, the Davis Square ArtBeat festival, and Paul McCartney at Fenway, so who knows?
Aaannnndddd...they're at it again this weekend, with shuttle buses replacing Red Line service between Alewife and Harvard. This makes the fourth straight weekend with some sort of Red Line route diversion on this side of the Charles. It's going to mess up people's shiz big time if they pull this on Memorial Day weekend.

Would you say that Big Daddy's on Western Ave. is in reasonable walking distance from the grounds? A cousin of mine who used to live in Brighton swore by the place.

I'm assuming they are trying to get it all done now, so we don't have to worry about this on Calling weekend.

The holy grail of beer selections is Sunset Grill and Tap in Allston, which is a short taxi or bus ride away. The have literally hundreds of beers on draft and in bottle. Big place, reasonably priced. Should be just far enough from the festival grounds that it doesn't get crazy busy, but it's always moderately busy on weekends and evenings.
The best kept secret might be either Deep Ellum/Lone Star or Lulu's though. Strong beer selection (though not as expansive) with killer food options. You could ride a bike to either from the festival grounds.

yeah, that's not too bad a walk, though I'd say The Breakfast Club or Article 24 are better options down that way
Saturday: A. Savior > Kevin Morby > Strand of Oaks > Moses Sumney > Oh Wonder > Brandi Carlile > Tegan & Sara > N. Rateliff > The xx > last part of The 1975 > Mumford & Sons
Well, I wanted to catch Mac DeMarco & Chance as well, but I'll probably have another chance to see them this summer. I think they did an OK job overall.
I'm satisfied with this. Friday was the only day I was worried about; it'll suck to miss Sigur Ros but oh well. Sylvan Esso vs Car Seat Headrest is a motherfucker though.

A lot of my conflicts will probably end up being solved with whoever my friends want to see. I'm seeing Sylvan Esso/Lucy Dacus next week, so I unfortunately might end up skipping both of their sets. We'll see. I think there's going to be a lot of playing it by ear
