LD and actually @fortyfive33 now i'll be in Waltham for work, if i were planning on just doing friday should i stay there and commute to the area? Should i try and find a different hotel closer? Is this a good Solo fest? I know being Boston not sure it will have the same Friendly (i hate this word) vibe as Bonnaroo so curious as to crowd type and such.
Sorry for all the late questions, just got assigned this client recently and BC just became a possibility.
I'll be doing Friday solo as well, as my buddy can't make it in until late Friday night. Meet up would be ideal then for that reason. That's just me though.
I might be going to see Kamasi Washington's bass player Miles Mosley at Great Scott on the Thurs. before the fest. Not certain yet. But if that's up anyone's alley seems like it'd be a decent show and a good spot for a meetup

Waltham isn't too far out, I'll be commuting from 3-4 times further out. If you have a car available, you can go over to Alewife station in Cambridge which is the end of the Red Line T. Not sure where in Waltham you'd be staying, but if you're over by 95/128*, take that north to 2 east. When the Route 2 highway ends, Alewife isn't far away
* It's predominantly signed as I-95, but locals call it 128.

Gah, that sounds super cool. We're boogieing down to Providence to see Future Islands that night though.
For those who were at Boston Calling on Sunday last year, did they announce the acts for the Sept Copenhagen Beer Festival on the video screen the way they did for the now defunct Sept edition of Boston Calling?
It would be cool to get that announcement on Sunday night, right before Tool.
BTW, if you're going to the Mumford DJ thing, be forewarned that there's a dress code and what's going to be comfortable and appropriate for a long day at a music festival isn't going to get you in the door at the Royale.
(This doesn't appear to be a Bowery Boston event, but something the Royale is promoting themselves and the events they host themselves at the venue tend to be the sort at which t-shirt and jeans won't cut it.)

Bigtime update for you out-of-towners looking for some touristy things to do BC weekend:
Harvard yard (both old and new yards) will be closed to non-staff and non-alumni there for reunions from Friday at 3pm until Monday at 7am. So if you were planning on walking around Harvard either go on Monday, leave that out of your plans, or plan to not see the yard.

I've never seen them actually enforce the dress code at the royale once.

Well even if this makes Bon Iver and Sigur Rós overlap, I'm glad now that I can see the endings of both Sigur Rós and Chance. Smart move by Boston Calling for this.
Well, looks like I won't be going now that Bon Iver and Sigur Ros overlap by 25 minutes.....2 of the 3 acts I would have paid to see that day.
Such a bizarre conflict. You have to figure more people would want to see full Bon Iver and Sigur Ros sets than partials of both and the ending of Chance.
BTW, 3 day passes are down to $158 on Stubhub right now...thats a god damn steal. Did this sell really poorly?

Anyone have any idea how you would even buy a pass on stubhub considering this is the first year they send you an actual wristband, vs. exchanging a paper ticket at the gate for a wristband?
I can't tell if I like this better or worse. I was already planning on seeing all of Bon Iver, then had a tough decision between Sigur and Chance...I guess it makes it slightly easier to choose chance since I'll already have missed half of Sigur. I wish they had just opened the gates an hour earlier and slid everything down so I could see all three...
