Probably no lineup till April but teases start in March (usually). Snagging a few $99/GA passes on Tuesday. If you have even a passing interest in going, this price is a steal. It gets you into all shows, both inside and out. Counting the free-for-everyone day parties, I saw roughly 35 bands in just under 3 days. The total could be more if I liked to walk around a bit.
From the website:
With more than 140 bands over 3 days, Hopscotch is known for adventurous lineups, memorable performances, and a fan-friendly atmosphere. From a large outdoor main stage in Raleigh City Plaza to intimate club shows, the festival features music in almost every genre imaginable—rock, hip-hop, metal, folk, electronic, experimental, and more—and its schedule highlights this diversity each year.

Excited for this, can't beat $150 for a VIP ticket. Was great getting into shows whenever I wanted to at the smaller venues. Raleigh is a great city, need to pace myself better this year so I'm not totally exhausted Saturday night.
Had it all loaded up and then got busy at work and forgot so I missed out on the $150 ticket. Still $200 for a VIP ticket is a good deal, excited to head back down. Lineup is kind of irrelevant since I'll probably only know 3 or 4 bands at most, but last year was probably the best festival experience I've had.
Based on passed lineups and the easy sell from Dave and GL, I might just drop the $99 for a 3 day because that really is a steal for the 3 day fest.
$99's sold out in minutes. GA is up to $135 but I really don't expect it to move from that till after the lineup drops in April.
Eh. $135 is still pretty reasonable. I don't have a significant other, or a car, or a pet, or expensive rent and I've been saving. If you keep us all updated, which I know you will, I'll keep it on the books.

Nah, doing Wednesday. Have like a 8 hour drive home so Sunday is a good day to recover and I think they had Wednesday night parties last year too so it works out well.
Nice! Are you staying Sunday then? They usually have some free stuff going on for the leftovers.
I'm actually gearing up for this:
Three Lobed Sweet Sixteen @ Kings
According to them, it's like a "long version" of the Hopscotch Day Party. Makes September feel not so far away.
Hoping we start getting conformations in the next few weeks.
Yes! See you there.
Can't wait to see who they book this year. I can't ever guess the headliners. Would love to see Animal Collective or Brian Wilson this year.
I'd be beyond excited for something like Brian Wilson/BSS/Baroness this year. Chances of me getting what I want is exactly zero. If tradition holds up then we have just two more weeks till we start getting single names.
I'll be floating solo to that show. Perfect primer to Big Ears the following weekend.

I'm not going to make Big Ears this year, unfortunately, but the Three Lobed thing is gonna be a great time. Long afternoon of drinks, jams, and hangs.

It's so hard to say what would be a headliner with them. Every year seems to be a different City Plaza formula. My first thought is Grimes, but she's HL Moogfest a few months before so that's probably a no go.
Since I'm here, wishlist #1 (not in any order):
Carly Rae Jepsen Anderson.Paak Converge Baroness The Necks SUUNS Beach Slang Boris La Sera Horse Lords Moses Sumney Lycus

I'd imagine Grimes being a HL at Moogfest rules her out. Anderson Paak is playing the Art of Cool fest in Durham in May (which I will definitely be at), so I'd imagine that would rule him out as well.
Would love to see me some more Horse Lords. That band rules. Also, The Necks, since I'll be missing Big Ears this year.

Not sure how to embed tweets but they mentioned they will be announcing two venues next week. Does that mean they are adding one or are two not coming back?
Tir Na Nog is shutting it's doors, I believe. I'm hoping the returning venue is Memorial Auditorium. That was the large place in between Fletchers & Kennedy Theaters (and get my hopes up for Sufjan). Not sure what the new venue would be.
