Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Tool 3x in a year is as good as it's going to get for me (sorry Sarge).
Went down to Bayou Boogaloo yesterday and caught Gravity A with Khris Royal and John Paul Carmody. They did mostly Gravity A but ended up doing a badass Sledgehammer encore. Then caught Roar! (Formerly Yojimbo) which is Carly Meyer and her drummer. Fun show. Finally I was wondering who Low Rider band was and it turned out to be War (which I guess I should have known). Cisco Kid, Low Rider etc.
Also driving by Rehage's place yesterday, there was a banner they are bringing back Reggae Fest in June at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park. It's billed as Roots Reggae and Culture Fest. It's June 18th and features Third World, Higher Heights, I-Wayne, Ambush Reggae Band, Casa Samba, Kingman, Rebel Biznez, D.O.K. Et Eboni Essenz, Zion Trinity, Righteous Wrong, DJ T-Roy.
The 19th is Capleton, The Shepard Band 2, Richie Spice, Evolution Band, Michaela Harrison, Silence is Violence, Aya Movement, Ben Hunter, DJ Ilect. rrcfest.com
lol esteban, I'm totally cool with Tool, was just hoping for Maiden. Maybe NOLA will get them at the arena in the fall. My lady wants no part and says she may get wristband and just skip a lot of the fest to hang out with nola friends since she'll be moving in with me in August.
Tool-Arcade Fire-LCD would be a pretty nice top 3 Hopefully Voodoo gets Rob Zombie playing Astro Creep like Riot
Aftershock fest in Sacramento is also getting Tool. 3 shows planned before that, but not sure what those are. Still hope for them being a Riot addition. Maybe Voodoo gets to announce them first or something.
Rob Zombie pre-headling with Astro Creep set before Tool would be great.

When I saw you say they were confirmed, it clicked for me.
Voodoo is announcing their lineup in June.
Riot Fest holds off a second wave of names, last year they revealed System of a Down and The Prodigy - on June 23.

L.A. will probably be one of them, they haven't played there in a while. The Aftershock announcement is coming on June 7th at 12PM PST. I'm still hoping they play Riot Fest as well, or at least a few shows in the midwest.
The 5 shows are all fests apparently. More good news for Riot.
That would make sense since someone said that the question mark numbers neither represented the number of letters in a name nor placement on the lineup. You made a lot of people happy in Nola including those of us who saw back to back tool shows end of January. If Voodoo crosses some rock over with Riot, it's gonna be great. It's gonna be great anyway but still...

You guys need to give up on Tool, didn't someone on here say Tool was playing Riot and Nola. Then Tool didn't show up on the Riot lineup, and while one of the mystery acts could be Tool at Riot, I doubt it. Tool played one fest in the last year, it was in AZ where Maynard gets away to do his wine business. Anything's possible, but I'm starting to look at Tool rumors like I do Daft Punk, Oasis, and The Smiths.

Understood. But the source alone (judgmentalgenerationxwook76) is worth 85-90% likelihood. He's not going to jump in with that for trolling purposes. If he got it from a poster artist, sound guys or insider, it doesn't matter to me. I'll have fun at Voodoo whomever they bring in. But Tool would be the top pick for me.

Oh yeah! I am already happy with that $99 ticket like Sarge said, now to just make Tool • Radiohead (I will accept Arcade Fire) • LCD happen, and I would be a happy chickiedee.

I'd be happy with Arcade Fire def but I really want to see Radiohead again. Only seen them once in ATL '08 and was 98% sober. They were incredible but I'd def like some performance enhancers next time.
I actually paid $107 so I could get the commemorative 3d ticket stub or whatever they were offering. I am a total mark for stuff like that. I got lunchboxes filled with ticketstubs etc that I'll scrapbook one day.
My buddies Dad has a coffee table covered with his 70's and 80's stubs and shellac'd over or whatever with polyurethane I guess, that's a pretty cool idea really.

I know I'm always badmouthing Voodoo but I agree the vibe changed when they moved to the new location at City Park. Can't quite put my finger on why, it's just not the same. I was driving through the old grounds in City Park before Jazzfest and felt a little sad thinking about the old dueling main stages. Those were the best.
I'm always interested in what Voodoo will book but as it stands I'll be at Hulaween, unless Phish Fall Southern Run takes up all my money time and sanity.
What year did they move it?
I went in 2010. Was that before or after the move?

I think they moved it to the new festival grounds in 2012 or 2013. The last year of the dueling main stages was 2010. I think 2011 and 2012 had 6 stages still, but then they reduced that in 14 and 15 to 4 which was probably okay since not many people go in the early afternoon (particularly Friday) unlike ACL which gets packed early.

Dang. I really liked going back and forth between the main stages. Plus I thought it was cool that if I was waiting for an act at one, I could still hear the other act (and I think they would play it on the screen)

sucks they don't do that anymore.
I hear you. It was kind of cool. I only went Saturday that year, and that was the first time I'd gone to Voodoo. That was Street Sweepers/Drake/Ozzy back to back to back. A lot of the chaos was at the bingo stage and some of the smaller ones. Now there is one main stage (Ritual Stage) where the headliners and subheadliners play. There's one big EDM stage (Le Plur Stage) which has the majority of the electronica. There are two other stages farther down from the Le Plur stage that have everything else. That's where most of the daytime stuff is and the smaller rock/jam/rap/NOLA acts that they bring play. They sometimes have a DJ set at one of the smaller stages, but it's generally more likely to be a band.

I remember they had the Le Plur stage in 2010, think it was the first year for it, but it wasn't that big of a stage yet
I remember Street Sweeper blowing me away. I hadn't listened to them, just knew Tom Morello was in it, but they were awesome. I caught the beginning of Ozzy, then the beginning of Eagles of Death Metal (playing a really small stage), then the end of Ozzy, then the end of EODM for that last set.
I had a fun time at the fest, haven't got to go back since though. Usually the headliners impress me but the undercard doesn't do much for me. This year its an option since Fun Fun Fun Fest (which I've gone to instead the past few years) seems to be up in the air
For sure. It's always been headliner heavy, but there's usually some pretty good stuff in the undercard. It's often a smaller lineup since they have less stages than most of the other major festivals. But I can almost always fill out a day from noon on. Also you get the local stuff (Naughty Professor, Freeida/Katey, E-Collective, Hot 8) so there is usually some talent even deep in the undercard. But we'll see. I'm ready for the announcement!

2013 was the year they first moved and they didn't reduce the amount of stages until the move. They instantly reduced to 5 stages the first year they moved and then they got rid of (and got it back) the Toyota tent in 2014 along with another stage (making it only 4 stages) and they reduced the size of the front viewing areas. They are locked in this contract at this location (which was technically built for Voodoo) until 2023.
Gotcha and thanks. I'll take Tool if it works out, but there really aren't any leaks around town. Usually by now we'd know 5 or so artists we could confirm. I'm not hearing anything, and I usually would at least have some information on the electronica side if nothing else. You still got that connection or did that die out with the complete Live Nation takeover?

He got married about a month or two ago and I don't think he is even looking into Voodoo because of that right now. (Plus, threw a big ass New Orleans wedding and honeymooned in Hawaii) He is all about making/having babies right now. I mean technically I could hit him up, but I hate bothering him with a new wife/trying to have kids/bullshit in his life going on and usually if it was something he knew I would want to know, he would tell me. I just don't think he is worried and he would probably have to go out of his way to get information for me.

Apparently Danny (tool's drummer) confirmed Voodoo plus 4 other shows after his Volto side-project gig recently. It makes perfect since and I'd be surprised if Puscifer wasn't there as well similar to how they did Monster Mash last Halloween.
I enjoyed Monster Mash but hated the $11 PBR-only beer tents.
I am going to say, after having three people here confirm it, and one from my secret source pocket, Tool is pretty much a lock. Any news on anyone else?
