Depends on where you are. If downtown, streetcar, taxi, uber, Lyft all work but half the crowd will be using them. They also have shuttles you can catch from Canal St to City Park and back, but I don't know much about them. Should be easy enough to book. Top way to get there is bike. So if you have access, that's your best bet in my opinion.

Biking is an easy way to get around, but just a heads up that the drivers fucking suck here. So you have to be careful with that.
Just grabbed our tix and hotel for Voodoo - will be our first time. We live in Gulf Shores, so attend Hangout every year, but this year they took a dump on the overall lineup. Really excited to see Tool, Ghost, Puscifer and to explore the undercard. Also, if you've never seen Reignwolf, do yourself a huge favor and GO. Discovered them at Hangout 2014 and was so amazed we caught them again in DC a couple of months later. Jordan Cook, the lead, is a jaw-dropping talent.

We're staying at the NOLA Grand Canal hotel - map looks like an easy walk to fest. Is it? Thanks for local opinion in advance

Yeah. You're literally 2 blocks from where I live. We walk it every day to Voodoo and back. You'll just kick down through that neighborhood over toward City Park & N. Carrollton, and you're at the Museum. You have to walk about 1/4 mile through the park to get to the entrance behind the museum. You'll be a 2 block walk to Winn Dixie (grocery store that stays open until midnight) and depending on which way you take, there are a few bars and coffee shops walking down Carrollton toward City Park if you want to stop and get a drink for the rest of the walk. There is also a 5 guys there, a pretty badass bbq place called Blue Oak which is very good bbq for here, and a few other options. But yeah, that's a good spot for Voodoo and probably the closest hotel/b&b that you could have gotten.

I LOVE Reignwolf. I have been preaching about him since we saw him in 2013 at the Parish and then at the House of Blues. We actually got to meet them in the LOA pit at Voodoo while waiting for NIN. Jordon Cook, recognized me from their show the night before because of my skull headband. So good.

That is walking distance, but if the hotel rents/loans out bikes to hotel guests you might want to look into that as well. The walk home will be the worst part of each day (in my opinion), but there will be those pedicabs that will love to make a $20 off you to take you back as well.
esteban is correct on the fact that is the closest (and nicest) hotel to City Park.

I know esteban and Vieux have already responded to this, but I literally live on that block. Never stayed in the hotel before, obviously, but you should enjoy the area.
If Google tour is right, Gramatik is in Live Oak on Friday and Voodoo at 10:00pm Sunday (obviously this isn't completely right because Voodoo ends early Sunday unless it's a aftershow which I'd go to). This would suck vs Tool in which case I won't get to see him. If vs Arcade Fire I'd probably walk over there to see 10-15 minutes. If Weeknd some way closes Sunday, Gramatik is beyond a no brainier except if Claypool/Lennon or Pusicfer is on on a side stage.
Not sure anymore on Tribe since there is conflicting information where I had found them in Live Oak on Friday a few places previously.

Tool/Pusifer Sat/Sun either way
I would *expect* Weeknd to close on Sunday, honestly. That's where they usually place their most pop-friendly act, with the big rock acts on Saturday pretty much always. I expect Arcade Fire Friday, Tool Saturday, Weeknd Sunday. But I've been wrong many times before, so whatevs.
Plus, it'll be darker on Fri/Sat when the headliner plays. I can't imagine Tool in dusk. LOL

Could go either way, but Arcade Fire just feels like a Sunday band to me. I hope I'm wrong, would be great to head home early Sunday.

oh and i'm going to voodoo this year. some IRL friends of mine are going and convinced me to go. and i think my wife is going to bail on adele in atlanta and come too.

Dude, what happened to that crunchy weekend at Hula?
Edit: understood. Any other fall weekend I'm in Live Oak.

haha yeah hate i'm going to miss hulaween, again. it's a better lineup for me but it's twice as far away, and i could either go to hulaween alone or go to voodoo with some cool folks. i need to explore the lineup a bit more but as for now i'm looking forward to:
Tool Arcade Fire Die Antwoord Porter Foals Excision Gramatik STS9 Puscifer Claypool/Lennon Pres Hall Charles Bradley Bob Moses Bully All Them Witches

Not a bad list for $161.
Super worth it. There are underrated aspects of this lineup, but it's clearly Top Heavy with some decent mid-card action. I'd have to go back and look and my uber-preliminary Top 10 want to see, but I'll probably catch all the shows you have listed except Die Antwoord who I've seen a couple of times. They're okay, raw and entertaining, but in my mind, it's hard to get any more obnoxious than they are. I'd say in addition to what you have, Ghost, The Pretty Reckless, Lunice (he is/was half of TNGHT with Hudson Mohawke), Reignwolf, Beats Antique, Kevin Gates, Anderson.Paak and Mutemath are all on my list too. C3 takes their time in giving out days/schedules, so it could be August or September before we can start guessing at legitimate conflicts.
FWIW, Bear Creek Part 2 should be out soon. That's really where my head is at right now for festivals. Lineup so far is spectacular.

Scheduling round up:
Tool: Saturday (in Little Rock Friday, plus non-inforoo rumor says Saturday) Puscifer: Sunday (in Little Rock Friday, plus non-inforoo rumor says Sunday)
Foals: Friday (per tour dates)* Bear Hands: Friday (touring with Foals)* STS9: Saturday/Sunday (in Live Oak Friday)* Gramatik: Saturday/Sunday (in Live Oak Friday per tour dates)*
* - Couldn't source these dates, I think Friday is just a placeholder for Hulaween. Checked band websites and they show the full weekend for Voodoo/Hulaween. Let me know if I'm wrong and missing a source.
I think the only strong kangfirmation is Tool Saturday/Puscifer Sunday.
Band of Horses - Website shows 10/28 Friday but then shows, "Voodoo Fest (OCT 28-30) Only other clues are that they play Charlotte, NC on 10/27 and their next date is November 3rd in Toronto.
Rebelution - Placeholder - shows October 28, Suwanee Hulaween Festival; October 28, Voodoo Music and Arts; October 28, The Spirit of Suwanee Music Park which would lead me to believe their are more likely playing Hula on Friday
Excision - Google tour feed shows Saturday 10/29. His website shows 10-28 thru 10/30 but then shows a performance at Something Wicked in Houston on 10/30/16. So he's out for Sunday.
Gramatik - Shows up Sunday on Google Tour Feed and Friday in Live Oak, so he's obviously more likely to be at Voodoo Sunday night. Unfortunately it's probably a conflict with Puscifer or Arcade Fire
Arcade Fire - Can't get anything on that, but I'm guessing Sunday anyway. It will be great to see how their show next Friday at Panorama is which should in turn hype me up to see them or give me room to find something else. I'd see Puscifer over Arcade Fire, but I'd still split it some way.
Beats Antique CONFIRMED for Sunday. They play Dallas on Friday and Austin on Saturday.
The Pretty Reckless - Saturday per Google Feed and Band Is In Town
Tool: Saturday (in Little Rock Friday, plus non-inforoo rumor says Saturday) Puscifer: Sunday (in Little Rock Friday, plus non-inforoo rumor says Sunday)
Foals: Friday (per tour dates)* Bear Hands: Friday (touring with Foals)* STS9: Saturday/Sunday (in Live Oak Friday)* Gramatik: Saturday/Sunday (in Live Oak Friday per tour dates)*

I just think that is a placeholder because Foals/Bear hands have NO dates listed on that weekend. I am not buying the whole Friday for them. They seem like a Saturday show, but what do I know?
It will be dark for Tool. They'll play 9-11 or 9:30-11 depending on what they pay them. Arcade Fire, if Sunday, will be on 7-9 or 7:30-9 because remember it ends early Sunday. Sunset here in late October is 6 o'clock or so (7 since it's before Halloween and we'll still be in Daylight Time).
Like I told you, I almost wanted to leave the typo in for irony and the general troll factor of having a misspelled word in a "dumb" troll. But since it wasn't intentional, I figured call them and they would fix. They said they would. If for some reason they fail to correct, you get the extra one. If not, the other one may just supplant that stupid fucking infowars sticker on a certain traffic sign near City Park and Bienville.
I hate to agree with anything on Reddit, but the bullshit information leak is kind of Maynard's MO. Double album on the other hand, I find EXTREMELY unlikely, but an album in general? We are like 5 years overdue for. Plus, there have been discussion about them working on this stupid fucking album for like 3 years now. Every year is the year it is going to drop. With the lawsuit being done and that out of the way, and them owing another album to Sony, I feel like this might actually be the year.

I was adding in my head but I think the song lengths add up to be over what can fit on a cd. It's not crazy for Tool to have a 12 min song, but 12 of them?

Undertow has 1 song longer than 10 minutes and 7 that were between 5 and 8 minutes long
Ænema has 1 song longer than 10 minutes and 7 that were between 5 and 9 minutes long
Lateralus has 1 song longer than 10 minutes and 7 that were between 6 and 9 minutes long
10,000 days has 2 songs longer than 10 minutes and 6 that were between 6 and 9 minutes long
I can't see them altering their album pattern too much just because it has been 10 years since their last album. But what do I know?
Uhhhh is the management running this page that incompetent to just post rumors? Or is this a sign that it's true? You would figure they know something... right?

They are fucking quoting Reddit. Worst marketing idea ever. UGH.
EDIT: If you read the comments on the Voodoo post about this, someone claims that they actually heard a very bad recording of Decem... I suspect he is the reddit poster and full of shit.
