LMAO. Is C3 getting taken for a ride? I mean shit, I'll take that ride too. But whether or not the album is out or not will not be the determinant of "epic" for this set. Come on C3.

Disgusting. Once again proving their marketing persons are the worst. Their album could be epic regardless if it's double album or just their standard format.

My crew really wants to go to this. What's it cost roughly for a place out there? Acl places seem more expensive then ever but we want to try and make them both work if feasible.

It depends. If you can grab that hotel on jakickers block, you are a 15 minute walk or 4-5 minute bike ride. I think it was reasonable. Depending on how many people you have will determine what you can get. Hotels will be elevated because of Voodoo and Halloween weekend. But if you can snag an Air B&B it will probably run 150/200 a night to split. Festival price is cheap and drinks and food are normal fest prices. So figure 170 (now) plus gas and lodging and then 70-150 a day depending on what you consume. \m/

Voodoo has partnered with some hotels and are offering deals. You can check out the list here.
Bought NY ticket. Might be a group of 5 or more w us. I feel very humble knowing I get to attend the only 2 festivals the Weaknd is and has headlined. 😲

Looking into going to VooDoo this year. Had a few questions. Does the schedule/daily lineup always drop in September? What do single day tickets usually run? Is it a wristband fest?

Thanks!
Last year it was 9/10; 2014 it was 9/4. It's now fully run by C3, so I don't know what their plans are. Rehage used to always add people throughout the summer, but that doesn't appear to be the case for this year (except night shows obviously will have to be announced, and most are unaffiliated with the festival anyway). Single Days run around $100 which is the price of the entire festival on pre-sale. And yeah, it's wristbands but I don't know if they give you a wristband for single days or not. Price will continue to go up all the way until the festival. You're probably talking $50 each increase, but you might as well spend that on something else if you plan on going. Also, they have never sold it out in the past, so the crowd sizes can vary greatly from day to day. It could be 20k or it could be 50 or 60k.

Just bought my ticket for my first Voodoo. Booked a room at the Chateau if I can get a few people to come and split cost but also booked a room at the Motel 6 if it ends up just being me and my one buddy. When are after shows usually announced? We're also staying in NOLA Monday for Halloween too. It's my first time spending time in NOLA I've always just passed through. Any tips on what I should check out?

If there is a Jimmy Buffet cover band at Tropical Isle, go there and drink hand grenades and eat Adderall until someone in your group gets arrested.

They'll start getting announced probably in September and then throughout October. Howlin' Wolf will do something (probably mashup/superjams) each night. Tipitina's will probably have something each night. The Joy will do something each night. Probably there will be a show or two at House of Blues including the one show Voodoo will sponsor which will be the Thursday kickoff (2014 was Moon Taxi, 2015 was Joey Bada$$ with Soul Rebels). The Republic will have EDM shows all that weekend. Dragon's Den will probably do (Bass) Church featuring Unicorn Fuk'r plus a heavyweight DJ or two on Sunday night after the festival.
^^^ In any event, I think we'll try to cover all those places as the shows get announced.
For instance, Galactic and Gravy are playing Tipitina's Saturday October 29. That will rule. Halloween Night is Funky Meters at Tip's.
It's mandatory that you need to go to Decatur Street/Esplanade/Frenchmen Street on Halloween night. That's where the party is at. Gravity A does a Bacchanal every Halloween night at Blue Nile on Frenchmen which will go from probably 11:00pm until 7 or 8 in the morning. I haven't been to that in a couple of years, but that's a great night for them. If you tell us what type of food you like to eat, we can recommend that.

Living in Florida we already get our fair share of Jimmy Buffet bars with overweight, older men in tropical button ups getting plastered. As tempting as it sounds I'll pass. Last time I was in NOLA it was only a few short years after Katrina and most buildings were either abandon or not built back up yet so I'm excited to see it all these years later.
I am in Florida in October and want to take a few days to go somewhere else relatively close. Would love to go to the festival and also see NOLA.
How is it as a festival, whats the vibe like? I got to quite a few fests here in the UK and been going to Coachella for a few years now.
I do fests all over the country, but Voodoo is my favorite. Being my local fest helps, but being in NOLA for Halloween weekend is so much fun. Mainly great vibes and great fun. Wouldn't try to compare this to Coachella whatsoever.
Great thing about Voodoo is that since its in the city, you can both explore Nola and rock out all weekend
Any more specific questions you have? We have a bunch of locals in this thread and we'd love to answer

Voodoo is a much smaller fest that Coachella. It is in the middle of City Park so there are trees and grass. There are aftershows and its in New Orleans, the city of over-indulgence that doesn't sleep. I personally love Voodoo, everyone dresses up, there is a good mixture of types of music, its my birthday weekend and its only 15 minutes from my house. Plus, it isn't far from any of cool, happening areas in the city.
I would suggest if you are going to be walking around at night in New Orleans you have friends. Just like any big city, you need to be aware of your surroundings and remember that you are in a city that can be dangerous. There aren't gridded off bad areas, you could be in a good area, walk 5 feet or turn the corner and then its not so great of an area. So be aware of that.
Where in Florida are you going to be? Are you renting a car? Are you going to need a hotel/AirBnB while in NOLA? How long are you planning on staying?

Awesome.
The idea its central is a big plus for me.
I am going to be in Fort Lauderdale. A friend I met at Coach lives in NOLA and two weeks in Fort Lauderdale is boring so I am trying to break the trip up this year. Everyone I know who has ever been to NOLA raves about it and its been on my bucketlist for a long time. So two birds with one stone.
This def sounds like my kind of fest. I got to Coach with my friends from FTL and I love it but it destroys me in every way. The smaller fests in the UK are a calmer vibe which I think I think vodoo is and will fit into my holiday.
Interesting to hear NOLA is dangerous. I heard a few things about what a difference a block makes. Also, 140 for three days is so good.
Voodoo's vibe is whatever you want it to be. The bulk of EDM is in its own area, so if you want to embrace or avoid or mix in that area, that's where most of the youth are. Keep in mind that if Coachella destroys you, this is a party fest meaning a good 75% of the crowd will be buzzed. But it's not a "fight you" crowd, just a generally wasted one. I'll be in that mix and am hoping they have a good whiskey sponsor.
Other than logistical bullshit that crops up in one form or another, I've never not had a fantastic time. Plus this year, I'm getting Tool, Pusicfer, Claypool/Lennon, Gramatik, Ghost, Pretty Reckless, Beats Antique and Cage. So I'm already pretty happy even if Friday ends up to be a shitty close. They do usually have opposing sets so if I get worst nightmare of Weeknd v Chainsmokers on Friday, the other 2 stages may have something worth seeing.
Also, no one goes in the daytime, so lines are short for everything until about 3/4pm.

I always go around 1pm, because there are usually daytime sets that I want to see, but it is DEAD in the fest grounds during this time. I love it, and you beat the stupid lines to get. I highly recommend getting there before 3pm to skip long lines.
FFS if they copy and paste Hangouts Friday night of Weeknd vs Chainsmokers. I feel like STS9, at this point tenure, have no reason to bow down and do a daytime show. They have so much invested in their light production and tech that it makes no sense to agree to anything but late night sets. Hope its Sts9 vs weekend and not arcade fire/tool
Hey Sts9, wanna play 6pm main stage?
Sts9: Go fuck yourself, in the most beautiful and soulful way possible granted upon you by the universe herself.

Yepp. Go right after a drunken brunch every day. Great to be able to move around for a while without crowds

You are a champ. We're always way too hungover and eating late lunches. Speaking of that, esteban is that corner store pho place open at canal and either 90 or Carrollton? I can't remember.

It is easy when you don't drink and are too cheap to eat out. Plus, I basically live on meat pies and fried oreos at the fest.

I'm about 90% sure STS9 will be in Live Oak, FL (Hulaween) on Friday. It was the obvious best case opposition to Weeknd with Tool & Claypool/Lennon not in town on Friday either.
